How do I adjust maximum region length.

How do I increase the maximum length of time I can record in one go ?
I know this is not a tempo thing, there is a setting somewhere that defines the maximum length of a recording (not a song) and I can't find it anywhere !
Any help would be great
Thanks
Simon
I'm using Logic Pro 7.2 and have tried running the set up assistant / browsing the reference guide !

Thank you sir, that is excellent !

  • How to determine the maximum allowable length of a filename for Window ?

    Hi all,
    Could I know how to determine the allowable file length (the length of the absolute path) for a file in Window environment?
    Due to some reason, I generated a zip file with a very long filename ( > 170) and put in a folder(the length of the folder path around 90). The length of the absolute path is around 260.
    I used FileOutputStream with the ZipOutputStream to write out the zip file. Everything is working fine while i generating the zip file.
    However, while i try to extract some files from the zip file i just created, i encountered the error
    java.util.zip.ZipException The filename is too long.
    I am using the class ZipFile to extract the files from the zip file like the following
    String absPath = "A very long filepath which exceed 260";
    ZipFile zipF = new ZipFile(absPath);  //<-- here is the root causeIs it possible to pre-determine the maximum allowable filepath length prior i generate the zip file ? This is weird since i got no error while i created the zip file, but have problem in extracting the zip file ......
    Thanks

    Assuming you could determine the max, what would you do about it? I'd say you should just assume it will be successful, but accommodate (handle) the possible exception gracefully. Either way you're going to have to handle it as an "exception", whether you "catch" an actual "Exception" object and deal with that, or manually deal with the length exceeding the max.

  • How to adjust maximum track length?

    I'm working in GarageBand 3.0.5, and I'm using one track to record from an external microphone. I have no problem recording and getting the sound to play back, but it seems that I've run into a point where it is no longer possible to extend the track time. It has stopped at 1:06:08 and won't let me record any more, even after saving.
    Does anyone know how to adjust the maximum length of a track?
    I have tried going into GarageBand preferences, under the Audio MIDI tab and changing the buffer size from small to large, but that did not make any difference. I can not think of anything else to change. Any help that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I adjust [shorten] music length to fit slideshow?

    Making a memorial slideshow, hoping to use several songs but need to shorten their length. Any suggestions? iPhoto support directs me to a page that does not include the info.
    Thanks in advance.

    I use music in all of my slideshows and always adjust it to my slides either by timing the individual slides or by using the third party application Amadeus to adjust the music, cutting out parts or pauses that I don't need or want. It can also slow down or speed up music without changing the pitch but I normally just edit the music itself to fit the projected length of the shows. That way I can match certain slides to particular phrases of the music and the effect is great that way. I've used Amadeus for years  and find that I can't do without it, especially in my more intricate shows. I believe I paid about 40 dollars back when I got it but don't know the price now. Incidentally I use the Amadeus Pro version. Here's the developer's site:

  • Ipod 4G - maximum song length??

    I have a 4th generation 40GB Ipod, with plenty of space available. I transferred a song to my Ipod and it won't play, I think because it is too long. When I try, the Ipod locks up and must be rebooted. This same audio file plays just fine in Itunes, so I don't think the file itself is faulty.
    Question: how long is the maximum song length, or file size, for use on my Ipod?
    [This 'song' is fifty nine hours long. Actually, it is an audiobook. If you want to know what book, other than "War & Peace", could possibly be that long, check the NY Times fiction best seller list for 10/10/05 - it is #1. This audiobook was ripped from 48 CD's and is just over 3GB in size.]

    I have 48 separate files, each from one CD. I joined these files into one large file with MediaJoin. I know I could use each file separately, or perhaps assemble them into roughly four files of about twelve CD's each, twelve files of about four CD's each, or some other combination, but for ease of use and ease of locating my audiobooks, I prefer to have as few files as possible.
    In order to save the trial and error time it would take me to figure this out by myself, surely someone must already know the answer of how long a song, or large a files, I can play on my Ipod.
    This one 3G, 54 houre long, file plays without any problems whatsoever on my home computer in Itunes.
    What do you think?

  • How do you adjust the length of a project?

    Im currently working on a project and Logic won't let me extend my loops out past 4 minutes 50 seconds. Does anybody know how I extend the length of my project?

    In the transport window below the tempo display you find the End point of your project. Maximum project length is 13 hours equaling 21601 Bars at tempo 120 or 901 bars at tempo 5.

  • How can I adjust the length of a note? Please help.

    How can I adjust the length (the sustain time) of a note after I have selected the note? Many thanks.

    Just drag the right end back and forth (mouse over the end of the note - a ] appears) - by holding down ctrlshiftdragging you can change the subdivision into ticks. In the Midi event editor you can do it numerically - just change the numbers displayed in the length section.

  • Problem adjusting region length

    Hi folks, I'm having trouble getting regions to the precise length of a bar. This has been driving me mad, I just can't figure it out.
    I'm chopping up parts of a drum intro to use as a loop, and isolated a 1 bar stretch. I've set the tempo to roughly the right range and selected 'adjust region length to nearest bar/locators'. Only problem is, it doesn't do it accurately, and at the highest resolution zoom setting there is a fractional distance between the end of the region and the barline, even though the start of the region is exactly at the barline. Obviously this messes with the loop synchronising, but I can't get Logic to adjust the length precisely.
    Is there something obvious I'm missing here? Any help would be massively appreciated!

    Problem solved? It seems playing with the time and pitch machine algorithm fixes this - selected 'percussive' and that seems to do the trick. Not exactly intuitive though Apple!

  • Adjust Region Length without adding silence?

    Whenever I adjust a region's length either to the locator's or to the nearest bar, logic automatically adds a few ms of silence to both the beginning and end of the region. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? If not, than this feature is pretty much useless. Please help!

    I am adjusting an audio file region using the command "adjust region length to locators" or adjust region length to neareset bar".
    I have a four bar phrase whose tempo is slightly slower than my song's tempo. I want to time compress the phrase to match that of my song. I highlight a four bar section in the locators, move the region to start at the same bar as the locators, and then select adjust region length to locators. When I do this, the region becomes the length of the locators, however a couple ms of silence is added to both the beginning and end of the region.

  • How set maximum character length in Fxml

    Hey can any body help me set Maximum character length in Fxml.
    thanx in advance

    I wrote my own TextField.
    I can't give you the code right now, but it's easy to create it by yourself.
    0 - create a private method that deletes any unwanted char/s: restoreRightLength();
    1 - Add a listener on the textProperty of your TextField/TextArea that calls restoreRightLength() method.
    2 - Override  the following methods:
    @Override
    public void replaceText(int start, int end, String text) {
    super.replaceText(start, end, text);
    restoreRightLength();
    @Override
    public void replaceSelection(String text) {
    super.replaceSelection(text);
    restoreRightLength();

  • Why are my region lengths changing?

    Doing takes for a guitar solo yesterday, I had all my take folders on the same track. When I was doing my comping I noticed that some of the region lengths of takes further along in the song were changed. At first I thought I may have accidendally selected them all when I clicked on the track, but the same thing happened when I made sure I only had one take folder selected.
    Is this a Logic 8 glitch, or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for the added clarifications Noel. Can you perhaps explain to me how the behaviour of the color sampler in the info palette is actually desirable?
    Let's look at my example again. When I am trying to make an adjustment and I'm looking at my color sampler targets, I _must_ have my adjustment layer selected. Target #1 is pointed over a white pixel. Regardless of which layer I have selected, that pixel is white. I can't imagine a scenario in which the readout should be anything other than 255,255,255. That's not a feature, that's a design mistake.
    If I want to see, in the readout, the value of the background image's pixel, then I should hide the layer that contains that white shape. Then, that pixel is no longer white, and the color sampler readout should reflect that. Makes sense.
    If you truly and honestly believe that users are interested in the color that is a result of compositing all the layers below (and including) the currently selected adjustment layer when they are plaing with the adjustment layer controls, then the UI must temporarily hide any layers above that color sampler as soon as I select the adjustment layer. This is the only correct UX design in that scenario - so that the color sampler once again reflects exactly what is "true" - namely the pixel color on the screen that it is sampling.
    And if you re-read that last paragraph you will intuitively know that that would be crazy. I mean, there's no way that a user would want to have the UI hide any layers just because he's clicked on the Adjustment Layer - he probably wants to see the adjustment in the context of the entire composition. If he wanted to hide those other layers, he'd do it himself.
    I urge you to reconsider this from the perspective of a real-world user and consider logging this as a bug. I just can't see any way that it isn't a mistake.

  • How Do I Detemine Maximum DVD Time For A PCM Audio DVD

    I have been working with my CS2 Premiere to create some auto play, audio-only DVDs that are autoplay.  To clear the air, yes I know that CS4 will permit 24bit-96 kHz.  For the time being 16 bit-48 kHz will suffice as it has CD quality  The bonus that a DVD format provides a greater playing times.  So the object is to make a PCM audio only DVD.
    Here is my problem: How to get really long playing time.  I know I can make high quality, 2-channel (ordinary stereo)  DVD-A's up to 3 hours using Minatonka Bronze.  Unfortunately, DVD-A discs are worthless as they cannot play in 90% of DVD players, but they prove the time point.  I would think that one should be able to make a conventional DVD, but with the PCM sound format of that same length.
    I just finished one that fit with a 103 minute, 16/48 stereo audio file of 1.11 GB size.   I also had a video file that I created using several photos. Sorry, don't have the final video file size.  I erased it all from my computer.  However, the final disc size was 3.754 GB.  A little extrapolation suggests a maximum DVD length of 119 minutes.  That with simple video and PCM audio.  Now, can one make a similar DVD with 150 minutes?
    I had three 48 kHz files that I created in Adobe Audion.  They were 1.599, 0.911, and 0.974 GBs in size.  That added up to 3.480.  The playing time is about 2:30 Hours; quite a bit less than 3 hours.   I tried burning a DVD with these, audio-files-only.  I checked lowest quality video, used no video, and got an Export To DVD error that I had "insufficient" space on the 4.7 GB disc!  So, I used the two latter files, which added to only 1.884 GB.  Premiere did not baulk, and it successfully burned a DVD that played.  Then I added the 1.599 GB file, and, once again, it produced an error.  This was clearly not going to work.
    At this point, I realized that Audition had done what it liked to do: It had saved the 16 bit-48 kHz files as 32 bit-48 kHz!  So, I went back to Audition and used EDIT to change the files to genuine 16 bit-48 kHz files.  When I opened them in Premiere, Premiere reported 16 bit-48 kHz files.  Their sizes were now, 0.799, 0.456, and 0.487 GB.  Please note that this totals 1.742 GB.  This is less than the 1.884 GB I had successfully used before.   Once again, I was getting the "insufficient" space error.
    I searched the CS2 Premiere manual and its index, but cannot really find any way to calculate maximum times, or squeezing the most out.  So, anybody got some ideas?
    Mike

    When working from DVD-Videos, this ARTICLE might be helpful - All VOB's (the container for the MPEG-2 files in a DVD-Video) are not created equally.
    Most DVR's write a VOB 01, that is not up to the DVD-specs. That can create a problem for PrE (and also PrPro), and if you have issues, please do follow Neale's advice.
    Good luck and welcome to the forum.

  • SQL Azure Reporting - There was an exception running the extensions specified in the config file. --- Maximum request length exceeded.

    I am trying to deploy an RDL file (5MB) to SQL Azure Reporting server in South Central US using the deploy function in SQL Server Data Tools but facing the following error during deployment to Azure Reporting server.
    "There was an exception running the extensions specified in the config file. ---> Maximum request length exceeded."
    Is there any limit on the size of RDL files which can be deployed to Azure Reporting server? I have seen some online posts which talk about increasing the maxRequestLength in httpruntime of web.config in Reporting server. But in case of Azure Reporting server
    how can be make modification to this configuration?
    I have tried to upload it directly to SQL Azure Reporting server from the Management Portal --> Upload Report function which still resulted in error.
