How do I adjust print margins in Safari

Hello
I am trying to print out multiple forms via Safari for printing onto removable sticky  address labels.  I cant seem to adjust the print setting to align the text with the label.  I need to set margins to do this.  I have tried adjusting the printable area via the manage custom sizes but this doesn't seem to work.  All my efforts still result in the printer printing will very narrow margin and my text doesn't align with the labels.
I am worried the I might create a world shortage of ink in my attempts to work out what's wrong.  Please help.
I am printing shipping labels in eBay using the Seller manager pro package .
I am using an OKI C531 LED Printer
Many thanks

I am using Snow Leopard and I don't really see a +shrink to fit+ option.
Using Safari (This also happens with Firefox and Opera), when I do the ⌘P, I get the following dialog:
[Print Dialog 1|https://files.me.com/w1jp/udykuc]
The only option I see to scale is either putting some number in the +Scale box+ or on the +Paper Handling+ dialog:
[Print Dialog 2|https://files.me.com/w1jp/uwm676]
Selecting +Scale to fit paper size+ didn't fix the problem either.
It's like the margins aren't working for this printer when printing web pages. All the other applications (non-browser) print correctly.

Tnx,

  • HT3771 How do I adjust print margins when printing from Safari?

    When I try to print email from Safari, my messages go all the way to the edge of the paper and get cut off. I can't find any page set up adjustments for margins when in Safari, like I can in other software (Word, Excel, etc.).  All I can find are page size, orientation, etc.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
    Let me hazard a wild guess that you're using Outlook, formerly Hotmail, for email in your web browser.
    When the forced 'downgrade' from Hotmail to Outlook occurred, they decided to hide some frequently used commands and made simple message printing from a browser print command nearly impossible, at least for Mac users.
    The trick is to use the Print command now hidden within the Outlook menu bar.
    It's in the "..." section of the Outlook top menu bar following Categories along with "Mark Read, Mark Unread, Flag, Unflag, and View Message Source".
    Select Print from there, it will open a new Outlook Print Message window. You should once again be able to print emails in their entirety.

  • Adjust print margins or printable area on laserjet printer

    Is there a way to adjust printer margins or printable area on HP laserjet printers such as the 5000, 8000 or 9040 series?
    Using either Windows XP or Windows 7 64-bit.
    We print CAD drawings to these types of laserjets and the CAD software shows a usable printable area.  I'm wondering if this can be adjusted through drivers or firmware or what controls this?
    For example, one printer shows a printable area of 10.653" x 8.138" for a letter size sheet.
    Thanks.

    Hi 3gman,
    There is a non-printable area for the LaserJets.  The margin for those printers is about 4.5mm or 1/6" around the edge of the paper.  Even if your software allows you to set a margin value of 0, the printable area will still be approximately equal to your example (10.653 x 8.138").

  • How do I get printer margins and resolution

    How do I get printer margins and dots per inch for the so-called default printer that is attached to my computer (and possible the less critical paper size)

    Thanks for your trying it. I learned from you that prinJob.pageDialog() sees the physical limitations on the margins.
    I found in the docs: "When creating a Paper object, it is the application's responsibility to ensure that the paper size and the imageable area are compatible".
    It seems that most of this stuff is the program telling the printer.
    I want the printer to tell the program two critical sets of data: the minimum margins and the resolution.
    Thanks again, I really appreciate your efforts, and learning one more thing.
    Here is my try. Sorry about the long lines.
        PrinterJob prinJob=PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
        PageFormat pgFmt = prinJob.defaultPage();
        System.out.println("old iW="+pgFmt.getImageableWidth()+" iH="+pgFmt.getImageableHeight()+" iY="+pgFmt.getImageableX()+" iX="+pgFmt.getImageableY());
        PageFormat newPgFmt = prinJob.pageDialog(pgFmt); //min: l=.226(16.272pt),r=.273,t=.25(18pt),b=.25 so wid=8.0(576pt), hgt=10.5(756pt)
        System.out.println("new iW="+newPgFmt.getImageableWidth()+" iH="+newPgFmt.getImageableHeight()+" iY="+newPgFmt.getImageableX()+" iX="+newPgFmt.getImageableY());
        Paper pap = newPgFmt.getPaper(); //pageDialog() seems to get the physical printer correctly approx agreeing with MSWord
        System.out.println("pap wid="+pap.getWidth()+" hgt="+pap.getHeight()+" iX="+pap.getImageableX()+" iY="+pap.getImageableY()+" iW="+pap.getImageableWidth()+" iH="+pap.getImageableHeight());
        pap.setImageableArea(0,0,72*8.5,72*11.0); //this allows programmer to set it incorrectly
        System.out.println("pap wid="+pap.getWidth()+" hgt="+pap.getHeight()+" iX="+pap.getImageableX()+" iY="+pap.getImageableY()+" iW="+pap.getImageableWidth()+" iH="+pap.getImageableHeight());
        newPgFmt.setPaper(pap);
        System.out.println("new iW="+newPgFmt.getImageableWidth()+" iH="+newPgFmt.getImageableHeight()+" iY="+newPgFmt.getImageableX()+" iX="+newPgFmt.getImageableY());

  • How can I remove print margins when manually setting them to zero doesn't work?

    I'm trying to print a web page that I've created with a custom paper size of 4.5x10.25 inches. I want the page to be printed right to the edge of the paper, with no margins at all.
    I've been reading for a few days and the best thing I can find is to use Mac's Page Setup dialog to create a custom paper size and custom margins, which I've done and set to the default for all of my printers. (Hopefully I'm able to post links to images --> http://i.imgur.com/kVbOZLk.png). No matter what I do though I can't get the margins to go away. There's always always always a .75 inch margin when I print and when I print preview (Again, hoping I can post links to images --> http://i.imgur.com/cxlVS8o.png). Just to note: The same thing happens printing other websites and documents (i.e it is not a problem with my website).
    Things I've tried:
    I've read that the margins are only visible in print preview and printing the page will remove them. This didn't work.
    I've tried tricking the system by setting my margins to 0.01 inches
    I've tried adjusting the website to not be exactly the size of the page (I made it smaller) and the margins were still there.
    I've set "print.print_extra_margin" to 0 in Firefox's about:config page.
    I've tried a different printer.
    I've tried a co-worker's machine running a newer version of OSX.
    I've made absolutely sure that my page size it set correctly.
    I'm using OSX 10.6.8 with Firefox v21.0.
    The closest I can come to this is using Google Chrome, where there is a specific option for "none" in margins and the Chrome preview looks okay, but I'm not able to specify paper size unless I click "Print using system dialog" which gives me the same problems as above.
    How do I remove the margins and just fit to the exact size of the page?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
    Does your Print dialog offer photo 'borderless printing' settings for various paper sizes?
    Every photo printer I've ever encountered leaves some unprintable margin, unless 'borderless' and/or 'photo' media are specifically selected.
    On many of the Canon inkjet color printers I've used, borderless printing is only available when one of the photo papers is selected, even when a custom size specified that is smaller than the actual paper, trying to make it 'borderless'
    I stitch together and print panoramas of theatre sets for my local community theater, so I end up with an image about 4.5 inches by 11.5 inches to be printed.
    Selecting a photo and opening in Preview and selecting 'Fill Entire Paper' illustrates the standard unprintable borders for my specific printer.
    When I open the panoramic image in Preview, I get this print preview. (The set image is of course rotated left)
    By selecting Letter and Borderless in the Paper Size dialog for my Canon MG5320 printer, I get this result.
    This particular Canon printer of course does NOT actually 'know' what paper is inserted, but the ink is applied assuming that a photo paper is being used, so it will saturate a standard paper.
    Hope this helps!

  • Printing Margins in Safari

    Every time I print anything in Safari (4 or 5). there are zero margins and it doesn't print whatever is on the edge. It does this with every page I print, with all three printers (Epson, HP and Brother). Surely there's a way to adjust this but I can't find it.
    There is no "shrink to fit" option in the printer dialogue boxes.
    Derek Boles

    HI Derek,
    If you haven't tried printing to PDF format...
    From the Safari Menu Bar click File/Print - Save as PDF
    Now open that .PDF file. From the Menu Bar (top of your screen) click File/Print.
    That way you have the margins....

  • Custom adjusting print margins

    I want to adjust the margins of a print so they be asymetric. In the parameter window, the margin adjusment section is inactive. How can I activate it?

    Thank you for the additional information. I have Elements v.8, and the margin controls are not active in the dialog for me either.
    Here is a work-around using MS PAINT, although if you do not have this, try another program from which to print.
    Enhance the picture in Elements
    Go to Select>all, Edit>copy. This puts the picture on the clipboard of the computer
    Open Paint, go to Paste
    Drag the picture to where you want it.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=14iJ2ZqhlP3wCdhH058PCva5qZyy
    This screen shot shows a 4x6" picture in landscape mode. The dialog for setup of margins is active.
    Hope that this helps you.

  • How can I set printing margins of report?

    Hello,
    I am trying to print programmatically a portrait of a JPEG image that has been created by a Front Panel.
    I print it by creating a Standard Report.
    While the JPEG image is fine, the printed image is compressed at the long edges. So, the printed image is a little bit distorted.
    I change the Printing:Margins Property of the vi at the First Call of the vi, but the result is the same.
    On the other hand, if I open the JPEG image with a program like Picasa and print it, the printing image is not compressed/distorted.
    I attach an image of the code that is used to print the JPEG and an image that shows the Printing:Margins Property.
    How can I print it correctly via LabVIEW?
    Solved!

    Hello,
    I tried the solutions that you proposed and I have the following results:
    1. The solution to print the Front Panel through the invoke node of the vi's reference is not ideal, because the desirable printer cannot be chosen.
    2. I cannot use the Word Report because I have not the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office.
    3. I used the HTML Report and I change the print settigns by modifying the registry keys in the following folder:
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup"
    I can change the margin_bottom, margin_left, margin_right, margin_top, Shrink_To_Fit and assign the values 0,0,0,0,no to them.
    The result in the printing image is obvious. It is no longer compressed and it is positioned almost according to the margins. Although all margins are set to 0, it has to be positioned 2cm more at left and about 2cm higher to be proper.
    But the footer and header registry keys even if they are deleted (I cannot assign empty string from command line), they are appeared in the printed page.
    I attach the new vi files that modify the registry keys of the above folder before printing and restore them after printing.
    Also, the Front Panel size of the Report.vi has been changed and set equal to the A4 paper size 21x29cm and a little bit bigger in order not to print the decoration border.
    So, the problem of proper printing of HTML report remains having only to remove the footer & header and understand why the printing image is not positioned at full left and full top even if the registry keys margin_left and margin_top are 0 and 0.
    On the other hand, if the vi's Front Panel JPEG image is printed from a Photo-program, it is printed correctly given that the margins are set to 0 and the "Scale" option has been disabled.
    Thank you very much for your help.
    I am looking forward to hearing from you if it is possible.

  • Printing Margins - Reset Safari Library?

    I am having a problem printing documents from safari, from only 1 of my accounts on my macbook. The guest account has no problems printing.
    The problem is the same regardless what printer I print to. When told to print safari will format the document to fill the entire page. Creating a custom size paper with custom margins doesn't correct the problem either. When printing pages, safari formats the page to print larger than the margins the printer can physically print to (unless set up to print borderless). Also, printing to pdf produces a document that is formatted to outermost margins of the document.
    Is it possible to reset safari to a like new state? I've tried going Safari -> Reset Safari, with no improvement. I don't want to create a new user account, there must be a way to reset it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Ok, I had the same problem where the left margin was clipped off and literally spent hours trying to fix it.
    I found a solution that worked for me so I registered for this Forum expressly to post the fix.
    It's simple, but not intuitive.
    From *within Safari* choose "File-->Print." Then select the "Paper Size" drop-down option and choose "Manage Custom Sizes."
    Use the "+" sign to create a new template.
    Double-click on the name of the template "Untitled" and type in a name of your choosing, such as "US Letter for Safari" and hit "return" to save the name.
    For "Paper Size" type in "8.5 in" for width and "11 in" for height.
    For "Non-Printable Area" select "User Defined."
    Then input your Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margin settings.
    I input the following:
    -Top and Right: .25"
    -Bottom: .5"
    -Left: .35"
    Then hit "OK" and quit Safari.
    Then go to "System Preferences -->Print and Fax" and then select your printer from the menu on the left side.
    Once you do that, you should see a drop-down tab in the lower-middle section of the screen that says, "Default Paper Size."
    Select the paper size that you just created in Safari and quit System Preferences.
    Then open Safari and print a test page.
    What's really odd is that you DO NOT need to select the Paper Size on the "Print" screen menu. For me, it still defaults to "Letter," but it actually prints the margin sizes that I set for my Custom paper size.
    I hope this saves at least one person all the frustration that I went through looking for a fix!

  • How to Set Default Printer Just for Safari

    I use 2 printers.
    One prints paper docs etc.  The other prints labels only.  When i want to print the labels I have to select that printer in the print dialogue in Safari every time.  Super annoying.

  • How to get Acrobat print dialog in Safari

    I am asking this question here as well as in the Win forum as I do not know if it is a Win ony issue:
    When IE or Firefox is displaying a .pdf the browser print button, file/print and ctrl-p take you to the Acrobat Reader print dialog and the .pdf itself is previewed and printed. In Safari Win they take you to the browser print dialog and a blank page is previwed and printed. Given the futility of telling users to use the Acrobat print button instead of the browser print button or File/Print, is there anything I can do with the .pdf to get this to work under Safari?

    hi all,
    thank you for replying. i got rid of the print dialog box by filling in defaults->spool control->output device in the user profile->own data. And i just set the following in my code:
      ltp_control_parameters-no_dialog = 'X'.
      ltp_control_parameters-preview = 'X'.
    And also previously i mistakenly reset ltp_control_parameters-preview to 'LOCL' (refer to my previous post).
    regards,
