How Do I Adjust the Double-Click Speed in 10.8.3

Hi. I only found this to adjust the double click speed for Lion http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4930
but how do you adjust it if your Lion's version is 10.8.3?
Thank you for your time.
Have a great sunday & a nice sunday mass.
God bless.

For 10.8.3,  it's in System Preferences > Accessiblity > highlight Mouse & trackpad on the left.  The Double click speed slider shows on the right.  Moving it to the left gives you more time between clicks.  Moving it right gives you less time.

You can associate files from the Bridge level and the Desktop level.
In Bridge CS4, go to Preferences > File Type Associations and change it to Photoshop CS4 for the file types you want.
If you want to open files from the Windows Desktop in CS4, these are the instructions:
Do this from the Windows Desktop:
If you want your image file to open in Photoshop and it doesn't, right click on it and choose
Open with > Choose default program… select Photoshop CS4 or CS6 and checkmark "always use the selected program to open this type of file".

  • The double click is not working so cannot navigate. Do you think this is a fault or have the setting been changed

I am new to apple and found that the double click on my MacBook air is not working so stuck on one screen and can not move. Is there another way other than double clicking to move between screens? Do you think this is a fault or just that the settings have been changed
    Thank you

It is probably set too fast or too slow. Go to System Preferences from the Apple menu. Click on trackpad and adjust the double-click speed here.

  • Double-click speed

I've noticed that in Java programs double-click speed is faster than in other applications ?
In any non-Java programs on my computer the double-click works fine.
But in Java programs i have to click mouse very fast to get the effect of double-click.
Are not they supposed to be the same ?
Is there any way to adjust the double-click speed in Java VM ?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    P.S I use Fedora Core 3 and Java 1.5.0

I've been playing around with Ubuntu linux lately and have noticed this double click problem. After reading through the Java source code I think I found a solution:
Under the linux JVM getDesktopProperty("awt.multiClickInterval") maps roughly into a C function call to XGetDefault(,,"multiClickTime"). The problem is that unless this value is explicitly defined it defaults to 200ms. The solution, then, is to define it. Under Ubuntu (Debian) I created a .Xresources file in my home directory with the line:
*multiClickTime: 400You might need to name the file .Xdefaults in other flavors of Linux.
In my opinion, Ubuntu should have done this for me when I used their graphical tool to change the double click speed. I think I'll bug them about it.

  • Double Click speed on Lion

Hi, need help desperately, I cant seem to find the option to adjust the double click speed on Lion, (10.7), Its not under "system pref>mouse"?

It's in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > either Mouse or Trackpad options... button > Double click speed slider.

  • Double Click Speed of the mouse

    hi,
Can we increase the double click speed of the mouse using Java????
Is there any API available in Java???????
    Any help please?????
    Thanks,
    Manikandan

It may be possible, but most likely not. Double click speed should be platform dependent, like for windows, go to the control panel and then the mouse settings, you'll see that double click speed can be adjusted. So this probably isn't possible, just change it in your operating system's settings.

  • GTK3 double-click speed

    Hi all, how are you?
I am running the Awesome WM which does not have its own sitting for mouse double-click speed. In
such situations you have to set the double-click speed through whichever tool-kit the application
you are using is based upon. For GTK2 apps this is not a problem, I simply place
gtk-double-click-time=1000 into ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and I am good to go. Unfortunately GTK3 does not seem
to have an equivalent file, so I don't know how to change the double-click speed for GTK3
    applications.
Do any of you know how to change the double-click speed of GTK3 applications when using a simple WM
(as opposed to using a full desktop environment such as gnome)?
    Cheers,
    Steven

    Hi,
    try to create
    ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
this should be the equivalent to .gtkrc-2.0
    cheers,
    Paul

  • Figuring out System's Double-clicking speed

    Hi everybody!
I have a task to implement event handling. I would like to know how I can find out the double-clicking speed of the underlying system.
This would be the short description. Here some background for those interested: I am aware, that I do get double-click events by the system, but I need to detect triple, quatro and so on clicks, too. Thus, I accumulate the mouse pressed / mouse released events and start a timer that gives me a time out, after which I send the real event to the next layer. I, thus, need to figure out the system's double-click speed in order to set the timeout correctly.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    PI

I don't think you can. Supposedly this is because it's OS dependant. What if you are on an OS that doesn't use a mouse. DOS for example. Whatever would they return?
Oh, I don't know, hmmmm, maybe... Satan!
    (or zero)
Anyways, maybe you could track the separate clicks yourself and time the interval between them and use your own double click speed. Just an idea. Otherwise, it's System.exec() with some small .exe or JNI.

  • Double-Click speed with new TrackPad preference pane

I have an original white MacBook. Ever since I updated to 10.5.6 with the new Trackpad preference Pane no matter where I set the Double-click speed setting (everywhere from slow to fast) I constantly get a double click event even when I single click the track pad. Prior to 10.5.6 the trackpad worked perfectly. Has anyone else noticed different behavior since the update? Any solution to getting the correct double-click speed to stick?

I've got a similar problem, but in the opposite direction.
After the 10.5.6 update, my double click speed sticks to slow.
I can change it and make it faster, but after every boot, it starts up with a slow speed again.
I'm on a Early 2008 Macbook Pro (first multitouch, last non unibody)

  • Double-click speed resetting after reboot

    Hi,
Every time I start my MacBook the mouse and trackpad double-click speeds resets themselves to very slow.
I've installed all the software updates, and tried repairing permissions from single user mode, but nothing seems to change.
It's tough to live with because I'm a very fast clicker (drink lots of coffee) and prefer the double-click speed to be set to maximum.
I'm using Leopard (10.5.5) on a brand new 15" MacBook Pro.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
(I'd even settle for a startup script that sets the speed on boot.)
    Thanks!

I have been having this exact same issue for several months now. I followed the instruction re: deleting the .plist files, but the problem persists... however... today I discovered something new, and perhaps it might help with the troubleshooting.
I started my machine today and opened my System Preferences to reset my double-click speeds (before my system finished it's start-up routine), but to my joyful surprise they were already set where I like them (2nd fastest setting). I started working in different programs (Mail, Firefox 3.0.3, and Adium 1.3.2) and noticed that my double-click speed had slowed down. I re-opened System Preferences and indeed... both double-click speeds had been reset to zero.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Magic Trackpad Double Click Speed Inconsistency

I have set the double click speed in the system preferences for the Magic Trackpad at about the halfway point. But it won't stay there.
Every so often, about once a day, I find myself unable to double click and I discover that the slider that controls double click speed has gone to its highest setting. I set it back, and pretty soon the same thing happens again.
I think there's a bug. Please reconfigure the software so that the double click speed setting remains where it was put.

When the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are used together it is not possible to set the double-click speed independently.
If the trackpad is set to the highest speed the mouse will not double click. Lower the mouse speed and the trackpad becomes hypersensitive, producing inadvertent selection and dragging problems.

  • Double click speed & key repeat

I use 10.7.2, sometimes with an USB optical scroll mouse on my 13" MacBook Pro
Since yesterday I am having problems with the mouse, it either double clicks automatically or does not at all.
Similar for keyboard, I am not able to repeat many keys like "q" "1"
I tried changing the settings for these 2 issues in system preferences, but I cant get it to just work.

If you go into System Preferences and click on Accessibility/Mouse and Trackpad, there is an option there to change the double click speed.
