How do I allow another user to access my pictures, etc?

Hi
still getting used to the Mac feel, after switching over from Windows, and I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to.
I have the following issue:
Under my account, I have all our family photos and documents. I have also set up a user account for my wife. When she logs on, she can't access our photos, etc., because she has no read/write rights. (Which is logic, since they are my "private" folders.
I have then logged on myself, used the "info" button on the respective folders in order to give her user the rights to access my folders, but I can't seem to "allow everyone" to access the folder(s). What are the settings I need to use?
Thanks

Hi,
I have tried to recreate this myself, and your right even after changing ownerships and movie the iPhoto library to the public folder ( Harddrive/Users/Sharing) the second account is still not allowed to access the library. This is strange behaviour because moving the iTunes Music Library to Sharing does allow all users to access the library.
All I can suggest is that you deselect the option in iPhoto preferences (Advanced) to "copy files to iPhoto library" then store your photos in a folder that resides in the Harddrive/Users/Sharing folder - then your wife can use the import command to add them to her copy of iPhoto (she should also deselect the copy to library option)

  • How do I allow other users limited access to iPhoto?

I am seeking to create other user accounts for my Mac that will allow my wife and my 8 year old to view photos in iPhoto but will not allow them to screw it up (i.e., will not allow them to edit or delete any photos, etc.).  Is there a way that I can give them access to view only?  Thanks.

When you share a Photo Stream and invite a family member to view it, the family member will see the photo stream in the iPhoto Library, in the iCloud section:  It will look like regular albums.

  • How can we allow internal users to access internet through ASA firewall?

    Hello,
I am new to security track, i have been asked to setup lab and allow users from inside firewall to access internet. here is my lab setup
    PC -> switch 1 (layer2) -> (inside) ASA (outside) -> switch 2 (Layer2) -> Router
does switch 2 port needs internet access through router?
what configuration required on ASA to allow users behind the firewall to access internet?
any help on this would be much appreciated.
    thanks,

    Hi,
Okay , can you clarify on this for me. Are you able to ping the internet from the ASA outside interface ?
    Just try something like this:-
    ping 4.2.2.2 .. Does this work ?
If this does not work , then i think the ASA even is not able to get to the internet and that would be a problem on the router.
Also , internet from Switch 2 is not a requirement as that is only a Layer 2 device.
You can assign the ISP allocated address on the PC , connect it to the Switch 2 port and then try to ping something on the internet or surf internet and i think that should work.

  • How do i allow guest users to access programs such as word or excel

I have Office installed on my MacBook Pro but I need to let somebody else use it for a training class, i want to let them to log in as a guest but still have access to Office, when you log in as a guest you don't really have any programs available, help would be appreciated!

I would have thought that all applications which are properly installed in the Applications folder would be available to all users, including Guest.  That's the case on my machine.  Is your MS Office installed in your **user** application folder (in your home folder, which limits applications to that user) or is it at the top level of your folder hierarchy (which is where you should be installing applications which you want to be available to all users)?

  • How do I allow another User to upload photos to iPhoto?

I have a new MacBook and I set it up so that my wife and I have different user accounts and use Fast Switching. Here is what I would like to do but I am having difficulty with it. I am the administrator for the machine. I set sharing to on and put the iPhoto library into the Shared folder. I would like my wife to be able to open iPhoto and download photos. Is this possible or can she only see the photos in the Library? In iPhoto preference I have checked off Look for my Photos and Share my photos. I have File Sharing turned on in System Preferences. Now when I go into my wife's account using Fast Switching and try to open iPhoto, I get a prompt asking me to locate the file where the photos are stored. I navigate to the iPhoto Library in Shared Folder and click on it. However, I get a message that says "The main photo library appears to be locked or in a read-only cd." Is there a workaround for this so that both my wife and I can add, edit, etc. photos to the same iPhoto library or is this not possible? I hope I was clear. Thanks.

You would need to make her ~/Pictures folder an alias of the shared Pictures folder within /Users/Shared
Make sure the permissions on that folder (get info) allow her there via others or group. (read & write)
Now, as for the first step, make sure that you move her ~/Pictures folder to the desktop first to copy over items after you've made the appropriate shortcut. That way, you two will be sharing the library and anything you copy there as well as her will be in the same place.

  • What is an access point? How do I allow another computer on my wireless network?

First of all a basic question, what is an access point? I am trying to allow another computer to access my wireless network and have no idea where to begin. I have seached the Linksys product support website, but was not able to find the help I need and am confused as to what to do. The home computer that my router is setup up to is running Windows Vista. I want to be able get on the wireless internet at my home with my work laptop, which runs Windows XP SP1. I am new to having a router, and would greatly appreciate any help.

    Hi Radeksgirl,
A wireless access point is where your wireless computer would connect to in order to be able to access the internet wirelessly.
Linksys wireless routers are also wireless access points, so you can connect a wireless computer to it.
In connecting wirelessly to the router or wireless access point, it would depend on the wireless utility used on your wireless computer.
Click here for an example on connecting a wireless computer to the router.
    Hope this helped :-)
    Good luck!

  • How do I allow my users to set the option to save a new timezone for future sessions?

The option to save a newly selected timezone for future sessions has been greyed-out
in the Calendar Client. How can I allow my users to choose this option?
    <P>
This is controlled by the settimezone setting on the Calendar Server. By
default, it is set to FALSE. You can change the value to TRUE in the
    unison.ini settings. The
Calendar Server must be restarted for the change to take effect.

    Hi,
Based my research, OOB SharePoint don’t allow anonymous users to contribute contents(Edit, Upload and Add) into list and library.
This is by design behavior, and it’s a consideration about security in order to help protect your site from potential script injection attacks.
For anonymous users, only the View Item permission is available for libraries.
If you want to know more about this, please refer to

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If you want others to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account(s). In the other account(s), enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in their source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
