How do I apply a Mail rule to only a certain mailbox?

I want to put certain messages into a mailbox and have them "expire" (be deleted) in 30 days.
For example, I want to put all my "email receipts" in a folder after I complete the transaction and have Mail automatically delete them after 30 days. That way, if I ever need them (for returns or whatever [which I would do in 30 days]) I have them, but after a point (when I don't need them) Mail would delete them for me.
As a side note, is it possible to create a rule that meets ALL of some criteria and ANY of other criteria?
Thanks.

Yes.  I understand this.  I want to set up a rule to move the message to a different folder.
There's a header field X-Envelope-to: and the mechanism to edit header list - select Delivered-To lets me do this.  Previously I had tried to select Header, and that did not work:-(  I solved my own problem!

  • How can I copy the Mail "rules" I have already setup on my old MacBook over to the new machine?

Setting up my new MacBook Pro. How can I copy the Mail "rules" I have already setup on my old MacBook over to the new machine?
Is there a file I can copy & paste?

    Thanks Barry & all,
Is it enough to just copy the rule-related files ??
    i.e.
    Library/Mail/V2/MailData/RulesActiveState.plist
    Library/Mail/V2/MailData/SyncedRules.plist
    Library/Mail/V2/MailData/UnsyncedRules.plist
What you suggest copies the local mailbox content + all the settings ...
while what I need is much less... and I'd like to be able to sync rules also in the future
by copying something light and simple ... not the entire Library/Mail folder
    Many thanks,

  • How i can send a mail to the user SAP Office mailbox through the spool.

    hi all,
I have created an report and scheduled for background and it generated a spool now how i can send a mail to the user SAP Office mailbox through that spool.
please provide me the sample code if possible.
                   thanks.

Read the spool number with this...
        SELECT RQIDENT
        INTO (T_TSP01-RQIDENT)
        FROM TSP01
        WHERE RQOWNER EQ SY-UNAME
          AND RQCLIENT EQ SY-MANDT.
        APPEND T_TSP01.
        ENDSELECT.
Use this FM RSPO_IRETURN_RAW_DATA to read the content of the spool into an Internal Table...
Finally use this FM SO_OBJECT_SEND to send the mail to an SAP Office user...
    Greetings,
    Blag.

  • How do I restore my mail rules from Time Machine?

There's a thread here with a somewhat complex process for restoring rules after an update to Mt Lion.
HOWEVER, this is a case where MT lion has been working nicely for months, and allovasudden all the rules just disappeared.
I'm not sure what I should look for and tweak to fix this.
I'm not afraid of using the terminal.

The mail rules are stored in your ~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~mail/Data.MailData folder, in a plist called SyncedRules.plist.
If you're signed into iCloud D&D, that's where you'll find it.
If you're *not* signed into iCloud, then you probably have a folder called something like ~/Library/Mobile Documents.####### where the # signs are actual numbers.  Digging into that folder, you'll fild the SyncedRules.plist file.
Thing is, I don't know how Mail uses rules without iCloud; if there's a "local" rules location.  There probably is, but someone else who's not using iCloud may have to help you there...

  • Why is Mail rule syncing only one way?

Odd. I've got a Mac mini and an iMac, both running 10.8.2, both with iCloud syncing Documents & Data. Mail on the mini has rules -- created on that machine -- for SpamSieve that are not syncing to the iMac; in fact, both rules disappear every few days and I only notice because spam starts piling up.
On the other hand, changes to Mail rules on the iMac are synced to the mini. The mini has been running Mountain Lion for five months; the rules only started disappearing after I upgraded to ML on the iMac last month.
Any ideas on why the syncing is only one-way?

It appears that I can't edit my original question. So here is new information. It is syncing. However, the contacts are syncing with my personal folders. The calendar is syncing from Outlook to Ipad from my personal folders. However, the calendar is syncing to Outlook in a hotmail calendar in the profile that I didn't know existed. How do I get it set right.
I tried to select the calendar. However only one calendar is available in itunes. It must be the correct calendar as it is syncing fine. So how do I get ipad to sync back to the personal folders calendar instead of the hotmail calendar in my profile?

  • How to create a notification mailer that handles only some of Item Types

    Hi All,
we are currently try to create another notification mailer to handle ONLY some of the workflows.
I have been browsing the internet (oracle site and none) as well as looking for an answer here but I was unable to find a solution/detailed documentation.
The only reference I was able to find is in the Oracle Workflow Admin's Guide where it's written "you can create a notification mailer that processes only messages that belong to a particular workflow item type" but it does not explain how.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank You, Pier Paolo.

You may use Correlation ID parameter of the mailer to specify the Itemtype that your mailer should process. This information should be available in the Workflow Admin Guide or Oracle Apps Admin Guide.

  • How do I set a mail rule to select msgs on which i am BCCd?

  • How can i set up mail rules from an iPad?

I am familiar with using rules to filter email.
From my Mac at home I acces iCloud.com and have no problems.
I went away for the long weekend, and brought only my iPad.
I started receiving spam from a new source and wanted to filter it out.
From safari, when I go to iCloud I only have three choices, none of them useful.
I have tried to use different URLs but always get redirected to /ipad_welcome/
Is there a way to do this?
Or does the post-PC device still need a PC?

I think there is not a good solution for it (yet). The best solution is to check if you mailserver provides a spam filter solution. I use Gmail and it provides a filter on the serverside. This means the mail is filtered befor I receive it on my iPad (and iPhone). You can also set up a gmail account as a exchange and push all the filtered folders.

  • How can I make compound mail rules in iCloud?

I love the control that rules give you in Apple Mail, or any mail client for that matter.  I use them for everything to sort nearly every piece of email that comes in on a daily basis.  From daily advertisements to receipts they all have their place.  I used to run my rules directly on my iMac or MacBook, but they didn't seem to translate to my mobile devices.  I was told that I needed to manage my rules in iCloud directly.  I've been doing so and they work well for the most part, but I've recently encountered two limits that I can't get around without a combination of iCloud rules and local/mac based rules:
    A.  iCloud limits you to 99 rules.
Now I know this number is a lot and maybe I'm just too type A because I've hit that limit and have needed to delete old rules to make room for new ones.
    2.  iCloud rules only allow for one criteria.  For example, the iTunes store sends me emails for weekly alerts and then sends me receipts for my purchases.  I'd like to filter receipts to one folder and all other iTunes emails to another folder, but since they both come from the same email address I cannot do so.  If I choose to filter by "has subject containing" and type in "Your receipt" I'll obviously grab receipts from ANY vendor, not just iTunes.  I could go the other way and filter by the subject containing "My Alerts" and the others, but then I would have to make multiple rules for each individual subject coming from iTunes, hence using up more than one rule of my 99 rule limit.
I know this sounds picky and granular, but it's just frustrating when the rules are SO detailed on the local machine, but so basic in iCloud.  Any plans to update the rules or make them more robust?
    Philip

I'm afraid that whether or not there are any plans about this, Apple don't tell us. If they do decide to increase the facilities we will only know when they implement it. (And by the Terms of Us of these Discussions we are not allowed to speculate.)

  • When I apply a mail rule to move a message to a different mailbox, large attachments are unreadable

I have a rule in Mail: Move messages that were sent to a particular accout, to a particular mailbox. It moves the message like it's supposed to but if there are attachments over about 1 MB the attachment is no longer there, and instead there's  a bunch of code in the body of the message. With smaller attachments, the message appears in the new mailbox with the file attached, just as expected. Anybody know what's up? Thanks, Bob

You can't simply feed it some arbitrary script to execute, you have to write a handler that Mail can dispatch events to. This generally looks something like
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
    tell application "Mail"
    repeat with suspectMessage in theMessages
    --do something
    end repeat
    end tell
end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from

When I delete e-mails on the handset, it also deletes them on my laptop. How can I stop this and keep the more important mail? My Blackberry gave me different options.

you will need to set up your email account as a POP or POP3 account instead of an IMAP account.
YOu can contact your email provider to get that info.

  • Yahoo Mail account can only see certain subfolders, not main inbox

Can anyone please help? I've been on the phone with Apple tech support for 2 hours. I have a Yahoo Plus mail account that I've had for about 8 years. I've had my iPhone for a week now and have had no problems receiving or sending mail from my Yahoo account up until today. Today, I noticed my inbox was not updating. All of my subfolders (Trash, Bulk, other self created folders) retrieve email perfectly. My Inbox and Sent Items folders, however, won't retrieve mails, and they just sit there with the pinwheel saying "Checking for mail." I've done a soft reset on the iPhone, deleted and recreated the account multiple times, then even did a full software restore on the phone. No luck. I created a fake Yahoo account and used it to check mail and it works perfectly. This to me indicates a Yahoo issue.
The last guy I spoke to in Apple customer service mentioned that older Yahoo accounts were stored on an older server, and that those older account were having problems and not working correctly. His solution was to create a new account, as those are configured on the new server. I'd rather not do that considering I've had this account for 8 years now. Does anyone know if this sounds correct? If that's the case, it's a ridiculous Yahoo problem, especially if it means loyal users have to start over (and I'm a paying user as well).
I'd welcome any thoughts or suggestions. In typical Yahoo fashion, they're unavailable on the weekends, but I was able to get their email help line which is open during the week. It's 1-866-562-7219. If you're having the same issues that I am, join me in bombarding them with calls until they get it fixed.

I read somewhere someone suggest going into your Yahoo account via the web interface, and send an email through that. You may be promted to enter a code to prove you are a human (a manner of spam protection). Doing that apparently "unlocked" the Yahoo account and it would work again. Give it a shot, its worth a try and not hard to do.
I had very bad service during the week with Yahoo and decided to move all my mail accounts to GMail. I don't get push email, but I get CONSISTENT mail delivery, which is better than intermittent push.
