How do I arrange Pages doc so that page no.s work in duplex print?

Hope one of you bright sparks can help1 I agreed to take on the production/editing of my local village magazine. Created a template, put all the adverts/articles in without too much of a problem, being pretty new to Pages. However when I went to print it I had a problem that I cheated on by manually typing page numbers at the foot of each page.
What I need to do is print two A5 pages to each A4 sheet so that the magazine can be stapled as an A5. So what I effectively want to do is: put page 1 on the right & page 52 on the left, then page 2 on the left and page 51 on the right (so that this can be printed on the reverse of the first A4 sheet) etc. I have (rightly or wrongly) made each of the A5 pages a separate section. Does anyone have any advice as to how to easily accomplish (and have different margins for left and right hand pages) as this as it must be a common requirement?

Once installed, you can make booklets from the Print>PDF dialog:
The above is for Cocoa Booklet. There is another Booklet-maker if you search Apple downloads for "Booklet." Both give similar results.

I have a brand new iMac with my evolving manuscript for a book transsferred from my now defunct MacBook Pro by external drive. Pages tells me that "PowerPC apps are "no longer supported" and Mavericks will not open Microsoft Office, though it is still in Applications. Would really appreciate ANY help!

You will have to have an app that will open them first, you can upgrade to Office for Mac 2011 which is an Intel based app then open the docs and retry. Your docs were created with extremely old version of Office for Mac, version 2004!
Another possiblity is using a web based compatible MS Office for Mac app and see if it will open your doc and then save it, then attempt to re-open in Pages.

I think I'm not following you. In my opinion, PDFs can't be folded; and whether pages are in reading order or not cannot be changed by the free Reader.

Gavin is right. You are bound to lose images in tables of docs made in previous versions. If you wish to continue using Pages 5.0 to edit docs from previous versions, you can try re-inserting your images using the following method:
1. Click on the cell you want to insert to.
2. Select CELL on the right contextual menu.
4. Click on FILL and select IMAGE FILL.
5. Click CHOOSE then select the image you need from Finder.
6. Tweak the appearance using the SCALE slider or drop down menu.

I don't believe that feature can be turned off.
I'm not experiencing any problem with full-screen video play on IOS 7.1 on an iPhone 5.

Convert older Pages docs to current Pages?

I have older Pages documents on my Mac and when I try to open them, it says "Too old. Save with Pages '09 and try again."
Well, I don't have Pages '09, just the one that came with this MacBook Air (version 5.2)...
Is there any way to upgrade the old Pages docs so they will work with the current version?

Since I didn't have Pages 08 on this computer, that did not work. But I did go and download a Trial Version of iWork/Pages here: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Business/Apple-iWork-06.shtml which was good for 30 days. Opened the Docs, saved them in 09 format and now my up to date Pages can open them.

How can I get a .cgi file that keeps downloading to work in the browser?

When I click on the .gif "Mod 3" on the URL below, Firefox (and Safari) just download a .cgi file to my desktop. I don't know if I CAN get this link to work, but I'd like to.

Tried monkeying around with the Applications preferences, but doesn't seem relevant. Doesn't give me an option to do anything other than download the file when I click the link. I tried Safari too, just to see if that'd make any difference, and it didn't.

That is a problem with the code on that page.<br />
It is a perl script that needs to run on that server, but the link seems to be missing (GET) parameters that the script should evaluate. If there are no such parameters passed to the script then you get such a download pop-up.
What should happen if you click that button?

How do I create a new document that is 8" X 8" and with Print as the document profile?

Page 47 in Chris Botello's Adobe Illustrator CS6 of Cengage's Illustrated Series asks this for the Independent Challenge for Unit B. "Create a new document that is 8" X 8" and with Print as the document profile." As long as its CMYK it's "Print". Right? If I go and change the size the profile goes custom. I'm a Graphic Design Student at a local university. If there are others who have used this book, Please giver me a holler. I wonder what they want there? You think they want to change the "Print" profile? That hasn't been covered. I'm on CC not CS6 but haven't found differences in that area. Probably just not written very clearly.

How do I create a multi-page doc / add blank pages in PSE 11?

I am creating printable PDF files and up to yesterday I was using a free trial of PSE 10. To create a multi page document I first saved it as a PSE project file, then added blank pages, then when I was done I saved it as a PDF and voila - done!
Now my trial has run out I have bought the paid version (which is now version 11) and I seem to have lost that option entirely. The product is useless to me without a way to create multi page PDFs - can anyone help?
Alternatively can I downgrade back to PSE10 which was fine for me!

Thanks - I just spent an hour online to support, they won't refund me until they can work out why it won't allow it in the new version?!! So they have shared my screen and taken my files to be worked on "at the next level" - there didn't seem to be an option to accept that this feature just wasn't available in the version 11, they kept trying to make it do it. Especially as they could open my multi page projects created in version 10 and add pages to them!
Anyway, I would be open to using another free software MichelBParis, but I found it such a steep learning curve to figure out how to do it in PSE10, it would need to be simple. Do you have links to any you could recommend?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
You need Pages in order to save a file that's been saved in Pages' native format. But you can export Pages documents to Word or PDF so that they can be opened on Windows computers. From within Pages, click on File > Export > Word (or PDF).

You can't. I tried even searching this iPad...documents don't show. You can search in the documents using the magnifying glass, but in the document main page I couldn't find a way.

I was working on a file in the iPad Pages app, collapsed it to see all my documents in the program, then left Pages to check the 'net for a second, and when I returned to the Pages documents screen, the file thumbnail was not the usual microscopic text image of the file, but the Pages logo, and I was unable to access it when I tapped on it.
No reason was given.
So I restarted my Ipad (was this bad?), and when I went back in Pages, the file was there on the doucments screen with the Pages logo for only a second before it disappeared or was deleted.
Boo-urns. Can I get back? A data recovery sort of thing?
I back up my ipad regularly with my macbook via iTunes. Can I find an older version of it on my macbook somehow?

If your have backed up your iPad to iCloud or your computer you can recover the file otherwise you may be out of luck. Did you you have iCloud backup turned on?

Safari. When going back on a web page, why does that page start at top?

Hi, new to Apple and macbooks etc, but bought a new Macbook Pro and very happy I am with it too.
However, one thing with Safari bothers me. When I am on eBay for instance and have scrolled halfway down a page, I then click a link that takes me to whatever, within the same tab. When I then want to return to the previous page, at the same point that i left it, i.e halfway down the page, when I do this it always opens at the top of the page and I have to scroll down again and find the place I was before.
Hope this makes sense and someone can answer why this happens or offer a solution to stop it from happening. (pretty sure it doesn't happen in firefox but I don't really use that now.)

Do you mean opening a link to one of your pages or opening an external link?
Can you go back properly if you open the tab history via the right-click context menu or by holding down the left mouse button on the Back button?
You may need to reload your web page(s) and bypass the cache if you've made changes to files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
