How do I assign static ip address on time capsule

I want to assign static ip addresses to certain devices in my home but not sure how to do it through the iMac and Air Port/time capsule

Not sure as I don't own an Apple router but on mosdt modern routers there is a way to set, that is SET, a constant IP for devices by their MAC address, that is Mac, Media Access Control address not Mac computer.
I would think Apple has included that feature in their Airport routers.

  • Configure static ip address through time capsule for Filemaker Pro

I am trying to setup a static IP Address for Filemaker Pro Instant Web Publishing.
My current configuration is that I have a Netgear CG3100D modem/router set up to be a modem only.  NAT Mode is Disabled (Bridge Mode).  This is then connected to my Apple TimeCapsule.
What I am now trying to do is to configure my Windows 7 PC to have a static IP address so that remote devices can access my filemaker pro database.
I have downloaded (and configured?) a tool called no-ip DUC v3.04 that I thought would help solve my connection issues, but I think that I still have a problem with how to open a port number.
When i open my browser and make a connection on my network with the ip address:port number specified through Filemaker I can get a connection.  However I can not get a connection remotely.
I know I haven't provided a great deal of information here, but I am happy to provide more, once I konw what information is required.
Any assistance or advice with this would be really appreciated.
    Thanks

I'm not too familiar with FileMaker Pro, but if you like to give static IP addresses to anything you would have to use DHCP Reservations using Airport Utility.
Open Airport Utility, select the Time Capsule device, click Manual Setup, navigate the Internet icon, then the DHCP tab, you'll see DHCP Reservations towards the bottom.

  • Change to a "static" IP address impact time capsule backup?

It just hit me that another thing I've done since my last backup is change from the DHCP (?) IP assigning to a static IP address. Also set up some "port forwarding" for a few sites.
Could that be why time capsule is now forever "preparing?" I have added a lot of content but I let it sit for 24 hours with no change in status. I'm wondering if somehow the IP address is screwing this thing up. I don't think so but what do I know? =)
    Thx.

  • How to assign static ip address to the server having solaris 10. i.e. nge0

    hi,
how to assign static ip address to the server having solaris 10. i.e. nge0 i.e. 192.168.3.125 ipshold be persistantt across reboots. what steps do i need to follow to put all information including gateway, netmask etc..Also i want to integrate one init script ..can i integrate it using /etc/init.d/<service name> like linux. and do chkconfig on it?i am not getting complex procedure of SPF and FMRI etc..can u help me?

Create a file in your /etc directory called hostname.nge0. Add the hostname of your system to this file. In your /etc/hosts file, assign the static IP address you want to the same hostname. You can then disable and enable the network-physical service to configure the network interface:
    svcadm disable network-physical
    svcadm enable network-physical

  • Assigning static port address

    Hello All,
We are having a standalone BOE server. I have a doubt about assigning static port addresses to servers. We had a standard deployment of BusinessObjects 4.0 SP2. Our admin has assigned static request port address to APS, CMS, FRS, Crystal report servers and Dashboard server instead of using "Auto assign".
Does it necessary to assign static port address to these servers and does it necessary to open these ports on firewall?
What are the advantages of assigning static port address instead of using "Auto assign"?
As per my understanding, request port of APS, FRS and other servers are used to communicate those with CMS. And CMS and all other servers are hosted on the same server. Then why do we need to open those ports on firewall in a server.
    Appreciate your help and suggestions.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Aashutosh

    Hi,
if you dont have a Firewall in between your Client PCs and the BOE Server you dont need to assign static ports. You only need this if a Firewall is controlling the communication between these two parts.
Most of the Services communicate only with the CMS - thats correct.
But if you use the BI LaunchPad only for vieweing and creating Reports like WebI you need to open the Port 8080 for the Application Server.
If you are using Front- End Clients for viewing and or editing Reports you need to open the CMS Port 6400 and assign a static Port to the IFRS and OFRS and open these ports too.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • How to change mac address on time capsule

    Hi there,
How to change mac address on time capsule?

There are routers that allow you to create/clone a mac address to whatever you like. Since many companies use the mac address to 'register' a unit connected to it's system, you usually just have to let them know you've changed your router and they will reset your system to accept connections from the new device.

  • How do I add an Airport Extreme with Time Capsule to an existing non-Apple network?

How do I add an Airport Extreme with Time Capsule to an existing non-Apple network?  I have an ISP provided wireless Router that has to remain as the base station.  I am able to join my 1/2TB Airport Extreme and Airport Express to the network, but I can't access/use Time Machine.

One option would be to connect the Time Capsule (TC) to the ISP-provided wireless router by Ethernet. You can then configure the for a roaming network. Then, depending on what your goal is for the AirPort Express, you can either: 1) Add it to roaming network, 2) Configure the TC & the Express for an "extended" network, or 3) Configure the Express to "join" the roaming network for AirPlay.

  • I have used Airport Time Capsule with my iMac for several years. I recently purchased a MacBook Air and when it tried to backup to Time Capsule it couldn't because Time Capsule is full. How can I now use the 3TB Airport Time Capsule to back up both?

I have used Airport Time Capsule with my iMac for a couple years. I recently purchased a MacBook Air and when it tried to backup to Time Capsule it couldn't because Time Capsule is full. How can I now use the 3TB Airport Time Capsule to back up both the iMac and MacBook Air? I don't mind losing earlier backups. I have excluded some items from backing up, but since the Airport Time Capsule is full, I can't even begin to back up the MacBook Air.

    On your Mac.......
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click on the Disks tab at the top of the window
    Click Erase Disk
On the next window that appears, select the Quick Erase option, then click Erase
The operation will only take a few minutes.
Now you are ready to start new backups of both Macs.  Back up one Mac first, then back up the other.  Do not try to back up both Macs as the same time.

  • I have Time Machine that I used to back up my old computer. It was running snow leopard. My MacBook died, so I got a new one which is running Lion.  how can I restore the data from the time capsule to my new Mac?

I have Time Machine that I used to back up my old computer. It was running snow leopard. My MacBook died, so I got a new one which is running Lion.  how can I restore the data from the time capsule to my new Mac?

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • How do I back up music on my time capsule?

How do I back up music on my time capsule? I want to remove it from my computer because I have too much music to store on the computer. I want to access the music to put on other devices too. What is the best way to do that? I just set up my airport time machine today and have never used one.

You can move the iTunes library to the TC.. but it has consequences..
Moving it is the easy part.. Apple have specific instructions.
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support
The problem is the TC is far from ideal place to move the library to.. a USB drive plugged into the computer (USB3 if you have it is very fast.. but even USB2 is faster than TC).
Once the library is there.. you will have a few issues.
    1. You cannot back it up with Time Machine.. so you must take steps to back it up manually or using a third party utility.
    2. Where are you going to back up to.. a USB plugged into the TC is the worst possible location as any file copy will be exceedingly slow.
    3. The network drive will tend to continually drop out.. and Apple did not design the TC with media extensions.. so it is nothing but a dumb as a board HDD in a router.. it will give constant errors in iTunes that it has lost the library because of the time it takes for the disk to respond to requests.
    4. The best way is to not put your Media library onto the TC at all.. but Good Luck..
