How do I attach a file to a Mail doc without the file being opened in the Mail document?
You will (often) see a preview of the attachment, depending upon the file type. To get rid of the preview: control click on the attachment select "View as icon".
(What the recipient of your message sees is dictated by that person's email application. If you want to make sure the person gets an attachement which is not previewed, you can zip it (control-click, "Compress...") and then attach the zipped file(s). Or you can try something like Attachment Tamer.)

I like the feature of the PDF being opened on the new tab on firefox browser's windows. But the newer version (3.6 or 4.0) will automatically open PDF in a pop up adobe apps. My wife wrote her resume. Wants to email it as an attachment only. But whenever it is received it comes as an attachment and as an open document in the body of the email. How do we stop the resume from opening in the body of the email?

I don't have any problem attaching just a MS Word file in Mail. My process is pretty simple....with a message open I click the attach icon (paperclip) at the top of the message, then navigate to where the file is located and select it. I make sure I have the cursor at the bottom of the new message below my signature line. FWIW I use MS Word 2011. -
In Mavericks Mail, how do you attach a PDF (single-page or multi-page) without the PDF being embedded in the message?
I attached a .doc file to the message and it appeared as an icon, so I did not have to convert it. I attached a .jpg image — it appeared as a full image, but when I Command+clicked the image, the view as icon window did not appear on the screen. Likewise, I again checked the Mail Menu Bar, and did see 'View as icon.' Side note: I routinely use Mavericks Mail in Classic Mode, so I decided to try both modes. Same results in both modes. I checked my Mail Preferences, but couldn't find anything there, either. I'll continue to look around, but this has me stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi there. I used to wonder about this as well. Then I realized it was much ado about nothing. I even used to send it to another email account to see how it would appear and it's just fine. Sometimes it gets delivered in the body of the email, and other times as a "regular" attachment. Either way, the recipient is able to click or double click and download just fine. Hope that helps :-)

In an earlier version of Firefox, when I went to close it, I would get a prompt "save tabs and quit?" that allowed me to see the same websites open from the last time I closed the computer. Where is that feature on the new version of Firefox?

Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, move the following item to the Trash, if it exists:
Caches/com.apple.dashboard.client
and move the following items to the Desktop:
Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.client.plist
Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist
Log out, log back in, and test. If you still have the issue, put the items on the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items. -

Could be many things, we should start with this...

Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Report any errors it found for Disk Repair, don't need the ones for Permissions Repair.
Try it again & see if anything changed, but have Activity Monitor open & Show All Processes & sorted on CPU%, also have Console open if we can... maybe not when switching, but we'll see.
Does this happen if you just try to create a new admin user???
