How do I attached a file to an email in my ipad2?

Ok so this is such a basic function but I cannot figure out how to attached .pages, .pdf or .doc files in an email on my iPad2?  Also, I can't figure out how to have a new folder or icon and store my documents either.
Deanna

It's sort of backwards from the way you normally think of sending an email. Rather than going to the Mail app and attaching a document there, as you would on a computer, you need an app that can read the documents you want to send that has email capabilities. Many apps do. Then you send the document from within the app. In Pages, for instance, you tap the "wrench" icon (i.e. "tools"), then select "Share and Print". You'll find an option to email the document there.
As to folders and icons for document storage, you can't. iOS doesn't have a file system like a computer does. Documents are stored within each app, not in a central store. The only way to have a traditional file-storage layout would be to use an external service such as Dropbox to store your documents, and then use apps that have support for that service.

how do i attach a file to an email as an attachment and not embeded in the message?

This question has been asked and answered several times already.
Any file attached to an e-mail message is an attachment. There is no other possibility -- the mail protocol does not allow it.
However, different e-mail clients may have different ways of displaying or viewing attachments, depending on their settings and the type of file attached.

How do I attach a file to an email which is already open on the iphone5?  ie I have already opened an email and started typing it.  How do I simply attach a photo to the email?

Go to the Photos App, select a photo and then select Copy from the Share icon (box with arrow).
Return to Mail and paste the photo where you want it.

  • How do I attach a file to my email

I am unable to attach a file - excel - to an email message that I am composing. Could somebody guide me how this is to be done?

On my iPad, I'm using Office2 HD for my Excel spreadsheets. In Office2 HD, navigate to your file but don't open it. When you see your file listed, click on the arrow off to the right of the file name. On the next screen, you'll see a button that says "Email File". This will attach the file to a new email message.
I'm sure most iPad spreadsheet apps will have some sort of Share feature. Keep poking around the app that you're using and look for the Share icon. There will likely be an email option there.
    Hope this helps!

I am trying to attach a file to an existing message but cannot find the way to do so, and would like to know if it is even possible on my new ipad 3.

    Hi
In IOS6 you add attachments from photo scroll by pressing amail body and selecting Add Photo.
Other filetypes i.e. from apps cannot be inserter unless you send email from app, but that is always new email. So if you reply, you can only insert from scroll.

I use Mail for my email messages. How do I attach a file as an icon rather than showing the full text in the message box?

Glad you got it working! Incidentally, if you have a relatively new Apple mouse (Magic Mouse or Mighty Mouse should work), you should be able to enable right-click, if you'd like it, by going to System Preferences - Mouse - and turning on "Secondary click". Third-party mice, like Logitech or Microsoft, should have right-click automatically.

  • How do I attach photo files to email message in iPhoto '11?

Apple says, "If you want recipients to be able to use the photos you send, rather than simply view them, you can attach the photo files to your email message. (BUT HOW?) Recipients can then download the photos from the email message and print them, use them in their own projects, and so on."
How do I attach these files when sending an email of photos using iPhoto? (I don't want to use AppleMail, I know how to do it in AppleMail) When I click to Share my photos via email in iPhoto, I do not see any option rbutton to add files to make the photos easily downloadable for the recipient.  Anyone know how to do this?  Thanks!

Not sure why you can't deselect the option, but I would guess that yes, the files are being attached.
Who are you sending to? iPhoto sends HTML emails and not every application on Windows or Mac knows how to deal with them, for instance, nor every user.
    Regards
    TD

How do I attach a file to a Mail doc without the file being opened in the Mail document?

You will (often) see a preview of the attachment, depending upon the file type.  To get rid of the preview: control click on the attachment select "View as icon".
(What the recipient of your message sees is dictated by that person's email application.  If you want to make sure the person gets an attachement which is not previewed, you can zip it (control-click, "Compress...") and then attach the zipped file(s).  Or you can try something like Attachment Tamer.)

    @ adobe-admin (J.C.?):
Thanks for fixing the "backslash" error. Accuracy is important, and doubly so when presented as an F.A.Q.
The sad thing is how prevalent the usage of "backslash" is when a plain old slash is meant (generally, the "forward" attribute is assumed and unneeded), and by people who should know better. It's a direct result of people knowing just barely enough about the Windows file path naming protocols, and then applying the only terminology they're familiar with incorrectly to URLs.
I went about 10 rounds—TWICE!—with a labyrinthian succession of people at the Discovery & History cable TV networks because they were saying "backslash" in voice overs whenever their commercials promoted their websites. It took some doing, but I finally got in touch with somebody who was savvy enough to recognize that it was a rookie mistake made by a clueless marketing copywriter. The voice over person just read the copy they were given, oblivious to the difference. It amazes me that it wasn't caught by somebody early in the recording/production process and rectified.
They then had it correct for about a year, until new commercials started popping up with the same error. Unfortunately, the person I had talked to previously no longer worked for the History channel and I had to go through the process of finding someone who understood all over again.
Yeah, you can call me a nitpicker with nothing better to do.
But I've earned that dang badge, and I wear it proudly!

    Hello experts,
I just got an iPad 3 and I am trying to figure out how to attach a file to an email that is already drafted or while replying to a mail.
Am still exploring the features. If it is not there is Apple planning to add this feature ? I wonder how this basic feature is not available in iPad..
