How do I authorise my new MacBook to my iTunes account?

Hi
I have a new MacBook and I'm now trying to download music from my iTunes account onto it. I've got as far as the list of all my downloaded music and when I click "download all", it tells me that this computer is not authorised. I've tried going into my account and adding it as an authorised computer, but can't find anywhere to do it!
Can anyone explain in reeeeaaally simple terms how to do this?
Thanks

To authorize a computer using your Apple ID
Open iTunes
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

" how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?"
You cannot.  Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

The bottom section (iTunes part) gives instructions. The first few panels discuss backing up the old phone but then it gets into restoring to the new phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • My old computer crashed, how do I make my new computer my main Itunes account? It's still looking for the other when I need to back up my other apple devices.

My old computer crashed and my itunes is on a new computer, but my I Pad and other devices keep waiting for me to hook up the old laptop for updates. How do I make my new laptop (windows) my primary I Tunes acct.?

It does not matter what the settings are for your iPod.  iTunes syncing generally works in one direction only, from iTunes library to iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library

  • How do i associate my new mac with my itunes account?

I was trying to download a movie from icloud that I bought on itunes. it said that this device was not associated with my itunes account. how do I do that? I thought if I just logged into my account from this device it would do it.
    Thank you

If the Mac is brand new you will need to authorize it, as well as sign into the store. In iTunes pull down Store > Authorize and enter your iTunes Store account AppleID credentials.

  • How do I point my new Macbook at my iTunes Library on my NAS

    Hi
I've recently bought a Macbook Air and switched from a Windows 7 laptop.  I have my iTunes library (and my wife's library) located on my NAS.
I now need to configure my Mac user accounts to use the libraries on the NAS (QNAP).  I no longer have access to the Windows laptop (it's broken).
    Please could you advise.
    Thanks
    Mike

Completely quit iTunes if you have it open.   Then Holding down the Option key while you re-open iTunes should prompt you to select the iTunes Library you wish to use.
Just Navigate to the folder on your NAS where your iTunes library resides.

  • I am trying to authorise my new macbook air and it won't let me. I try to de-authorise all the other computers and it says I can only do this once a year and have to wait until the 7th Feb. It does not give me an option to authorise this computer

Always remember to 'de-authorize' you computer when selling or sending for service. If sending for repairs you might not get the same mother board or HD back and some how this counts as an authorized computer against your count.

How can I restore my new Macbook pro to Factory setting?

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: Be sure you have an active internet connection.
