How do I avoid synching Outlook with iCloud?

I am about to move to iCloud.  My company email, calendar and notes are in Outlook 7.  My IT advisor said don't allow the Cloud access to Outlook.  I am avoiding installing iCloud on my iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 because it'll affect the Outlook program.  Any advice here?

it won't affect the computer if you don't have iCloud control panel installed on the computer or if your not signed in iCloud control panel.
even if you install icloud (iOS 5) on any of the devices, you'll have the option to turn it on or off

How do you synch iCalendar with iCloud?
I cannot get my father's Calendar data to transfer via iCloud to his iPad.  His Mac is running 10.7.2, and the iPad is running OS 5.0.1 (I think, at least it is OS 5 for sure.)  Everything else (Mail, Contacts, etc) is transferring, but not Calendar.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check that both have calendar syncing enabled, also check that the calendars in iCal you are trying to sync are iCloud calendars and not on my mac calendars (click on the calendar button in the top left corner of iCal).

  • Automatically Synch Gmail with iCloud?

Hej all! I have sync my iPhone Contacts with iCloud and Gmail contacts. How can I automatically Synch Gmail Contacts or iPhone Contacts with iCloud. Let me put it in simple way. When I add new contact to my iPhone contacts it is added automatically to my Gmail Contacts and vice verca but not to iCloud Contacts, and when I add new contact to iCloud it doesn't come to my iPhone or Gmail Contact? How can it be done automatically with iCloud Contacts too, so when I add contact to iPhone Contact or Gmail Contact or iCloud Contact, it should be added to my other contacts too?
    I have iPhone 5s.

Well, the standard way is to set up IMAP access to your GMail (you do this in webmail, under "Settings / Forwarding and POP/IMAP". You then configure Mail.app with the correct IMAP settings.

  • I have just purchased a Macbook pro, but my iphone is currently synched to my old pc. How can I now synch it with my new mac without losing all the apps/music etc on my phone, Ta

Hi, I have just purchased a Macbook, but my iphone is currently synched to my old pc. How can I now synch it with my new mac without losing all the apps/music etc on my phone? Ta

The easiest way is to copy the iTunes folder from your old PC to your MB (put it in the Music folder as a subfolder), along with the other valuable data on the old PC. Or restore it from a backup of your old PC. Then authorize iTunes on the MB to the same account you had on the PC. When you sync it will warn you that your content will be deleted, but it will be replaced with the same content from the MB. Before syncing you should also make sure there is at least one entry in iCal and Address book on the MB (assuming you sync to Outlook or equivalent on the PC) to assure that your contacts and calendar entries will move over correctly.
Al alternative that is less effective is to connect the iPhone to the MB without syncing, and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes File menu. This willl copy purchases music, videos and apps, but not ripped tracks from the iPhone to the MB.

  • Is there a set up tutorial for using Outlook with iCloud

I am using Outlook on my PC (windows 7 and Outlook 2010)
    1. Is there a set up tutorial for using Outlook with iCloud?
    2.  Please clarify, I don't need to set up a XXX@me email account to get iCloud to sync with Outlook, correct?
    3.  My emails appear to by syncing, but the Outlook Calendar does not sync its Pre-Cloud entries with my Iphone and IPad.  Is this what is to e expected?
    4.  If I put a calendar entry on my PC's Outlook Calendar, it should sync with my Iphone and Ipad correct?  Again, what about entries that were made in Outlook before I signed up for iCloud?
I am hoping there is a simple step by step tutorial somewhere, because I am pretty disappointed with Apple about how confusing this is all becoming.

    Hello:
Sorry I can't bring you a solution but I am surprised your mail is working. Many of us with outlook 2010 seem to be having trouble sending. It seems apple's Pxx-smpt.mail.me.com server is rejecting the loging. I have tried it on three PC's with Win7 and Outlook 2010. It simply does not work after installing from the iCloud control panel. I have also manually configured the servers, encryption method, etc to no avail.
On the positive side, Calenda and contacts does work. First time around, the claendar duplictaed everything but I manually cleans it out. The iCloud calendar is a seperate calendar in Outlook. It seems to perform a sync with your local calendar one time. From them on, I beleive you need to use the iCloud calendar to have the same appointments show on each device. I renamed the defaut iClouds calendar to "iCloud Calendar". It's definatelly confusing and not seamless. It would be nicer to sync your OL calendar permenantly so you don;t see two or more.
Let me know your settings for iCloud email on Outlook. Try sending an email from the @me.com account.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Outlook 2007 contact synch problems with iCloud

Running into difficulties synching iCloud 1.0.1 contacts with Outlook 2007.  It freezes/crashes outlook quite regularly. The contacts properly synched the the first time but now I'm getting "Couldn't save changes to x items" when Outlook tries to synch with iCloud. The reason given for a particuliar contact is "got no rsrc name for msg?!".  If i try again, same message. The other option it to 'delete' which then deletes the contact(s) showing up in the error message from icloud folder in outlook but does not affect them in iCloud. I have no contacts in the default outlook folder. I am only using iCloud contacts on PC and iphone 4s.
The iCloud addin is enabled for Outlook. I removed "contacts with outlook" in the iCloud control panel and re-enabled but this did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions? I've searched for this error message apple's support but do not find any matches.
    Thanks,
    Rick

OK, I bit the bullet and manually did the only "work around" that I could come up with. When the message, "got no rsrc name for msg?!" comes up I manually noted the 10 contacts at a time from Outlook that were giving problems and choose the only option which did something - I choose the "delete" button. It deletes those 10 contacts from Outlook's iCloud.  Taking note of which ones i deleted, then, using my iphone - I located those contacts in the iCloud (as it doesn't delete them from the cloud, but neither are then in Outlook) and made a small modification to each one - e.g. adding a period in the note field, saved and exited the contact. Then I went back to Outlook and refreshed from the iCloud. Sometimes you have to wait 3-4 mintues for the update to come through. If you get a message about a new batch of 10 contacts that have synch error problems, you will need to "X" out and close the dialog box. Sometimes only a few of the modified contacts come through and you need to go back to the cloud via phone a modify those straggler contacts again (adding another period, etc.)
Once all the previously deleted contacts come back into Outlook's iCloud folder, check them off your list as complete. Refresh iCloud on Outlook (mine has a button for this at the top of Outlook bar). You should get your next batch of 10 conflicts.  Go thru the WHOLE process for ALL of your Outlook contacts.
I am pleased to say this consumed half of my Saturday doing this incredibly boring and tedious workaround for an obvious bug.  I had about 250 contacts. I pity anyone that has 500+ contacts...you many as well throw the PoS phone out and go with an android.
Problem fixed, no more Outlook crashing/hanging or contact synch 'errors'.
    all the best....

  • TS4204 How do you merge Outlook with iCloud calendars

Can anyone help with this ?

If you are syncing your outlook calendar with an exchange or other server, you can't effectively do this, iCloud only syncs with iCloud calendars and exchange won't sync with iCloud calendars.

  • How to sync my google calendar with iCloud ?

To sync my work calendar (that uses outlook) with my iPhone, Is sync my work calendar with my Gmail Calendar so I get my gmail alendar on my iPhone.
But on my iPhone the gmail calendar is not the account that is linked to my iCloud account.
So how can copy all my calendar items into my iCloud calendar, so it get synchronised on my MAc ?
    Thanks

Yes but if set iCloud as my default calendar it wont resolve my problem. Because If I add an item into my Gmail calendar, it will successfully get synch into my iPhone but as it is the gmail cal it won't be ssnch with my mac
(If I add directly an item into my iphone, it will get synch with my mac)
So to be clear, is there a way to copy on the fly items inserted from GCal to Icloud cal ?
add item in my work calendar -> get synch to GCal -> get synch on my iphone GCal -> copy that to iCoud Cal -> get synch through ICloud into my Mac

  • How can I sync my outlook to icloud calendar?

I have an iphone 4 and was wondering how I would sync my outlook office 365 calendar with my icloud calendar?

You can sync by adding your 365 account under "Mail, Contracts, Calenders" "Add Account" then Outlook and finally enter your 365 email and password; the rest should happen automatically. Don't forget to go in to Sync settings in Outlook and click the things you want to sync.

  • Synching contacts with iCloud problem

Im have set up my macbook pro with contacts and synching them to Icloud, also have my facebookcontacts added to contacts.
    Everything looks fine and nice.
Though when im looking in my iPhone it not shown as is is in my computer, i got plenty of double contacts, different sorting aswell, some names are correct and others completely at the wrong place in the sorting,
I thought i would mirror everything to the iOs device?
Any hints how to solve this?
    Thanks
    Joar

If there's a problam with your ID you might need to contact Apple support for assistance.  You might start with iTunes store support: https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.  They frequently deal with Apple ID issues (your iCloud ID is also an Apple ID).  They should be able to help you reset your security questions and explain any potential issues with your ID that are preventing access to iCloud.

  • Synching Outlook w/iCloud sent invites to everyone

When setting up iCloud, I synched Outlook (local). It worked just fine.
Until... I heard from across the office, "Hey, why are you filling up my inbox?"
Turns out, it started re-inviting everyone (hundreds of emails) to events. Events I didn't even originate. Events that will happen in the future. Events that happened in the past.
I've spent the weekend emailing everyone trying to profusely apologize, sorting through each meeting (I have a lot of them, involving a lot of employees and clients).
Apple, ***? I can't even figure out what setting would've possibly caused this, and I don't even want to touch iCloud for fear of the same **** thing happening again. Which means, my new iPhone is basically useless with Outlook.
Can this be? If I simply sync it outside of iCloud, will this happen again?
No trust, no faith right now. Angry people/clients. No troubleshooting available that I can find.
    Help?

I found a way to stop the inviations from being sent to everyone.
    Outlook 2010
    -         Double click on the calendar entry that has the invitation
    -         File (on top at far left)
    -         Move to Folder – select delete
    -         You will be prompted to enter an email address – enter yours
The invitation will now be deleted and the copy only sent toyou. This is a pain and for me I had to do one by one since my reoccurring events did not transfer at reoccurring.
I beleive this will work in older version of outlook -
Open your Outlook calendar and select the meeting item.
Delete or cancel the meeting anyway you like.
The meeting dialog will open and ask you if you want to send the notification.  The attendees’ names are conveniently already entered in the To: field.
Delete all the attendees’ email addresses and enter your own (or any other) email address.
    Mouse-click the Send Cancellation button.
    My final solution:
Calendar:  sync mycalendar with categories on MSN.  I canalso use this on idevice and exchange
Email:  leaving on icloud since I was on a mobile and that account is all organized.  But, I still use my MSN address and forward my emails to icloud.  Why?  I was an early adapter to mobileme and it was very unstable.  Over time I have grown to appreciate always having a clean email account where the originals are kept.
Contacts:  At the moment they are on icloud but I am testing MSN.
Google is not a solution for me since I use more than one calendar and prefer to use categories.   You also need to use an intermediary sync program and it was slow……….  Plus I prefer the organization of outlook to Google.
Issues with icloud calendar that worked in mobileme:
    1.  Lost reoccurng events - they appear but not as reoccuring
    2.  Lost categories
    3.  There are actually fewer options in icloud!
    4.  Forced integration immediatly on all devices.  This is huge - we should be allowed to test and use.  Instead we could not access email, calendar or contacts until devices were updated.
For me this was a backwards step....

  • How do I STOP synching contacts with FB?

I accidently answered yes at the initial setup - but I no longer want to synch FB with my contacts.  Does anyone know how to change that setting?
    I have the iPhone 4  (not S)
    TIA!

It's Settings > Facebook > turn off Contacts.
And if you do not want all the Facebook birthdays and events on your Calendar turn off Calendar in the same location.

  • How to change the name associated with iCloud email alias??

I had MobileMe on the iPhone with alias email addresses and I liked how it didn’t attach any “name” to an alias. For example, I had MainUserName, then for aliases I would have [email protected], [email protected], etc. When I sent an email from my iPhone using one of the aliases as the "from" no name would be associated with the alias email address. If it was the MainUserName then it would associate it, e.g. Main User <[email protected]> will show up on the "From" field when I sent an email. But with iCloud on the iPhone (and iPad), it’s Main User <[email protected]>, Main User <[email protected], etc., which I don’t want.  If anything it should be Alias 1 <[email protected]> or Alias 2 <[email protected]>.  Anyway, I don't want any name associated with the aliases, so when I send an email it will simply say [email protected] or just [email protected] with no name association.
It works differently if I access iCloud through a web browser.  If I send an email via iCloud on the web, I can customize and have a different name with each alias, e.g., Tom <[email protected]> or Harry <[email protected]>  And the customization carries over to the Mail app on my Mac.  That would be ideal if the customization carried over to the iPhone and iPad, but I'd be happy if there was no name association with alias email addresses.  Hopefully, there's a solution to the iPhone/iPad situation with iCloud as I don't want the name linked with the main iCloud email address linked with all the different email aliases I have.

Can I change the name associated with an ipod on my Mac?
Select the iPod in the iTunes source list, click on its name, and type a new name.
And can there be more than one iPod on one computer?
    Yes.
