How do I back up MUSIC FILES ONLY?

Hi, is there any way that I can automatically back up ONLY my iTunes music files to CD? (I don't want to copy large movie files to my CDs).
If there is no automated way to do this, what is the simplest way for me to do this manually? (FYI, I have consolidated the music files in my itunes library). Thanks.

To Find your music You would Enter iTunes then do the following: Search for Quick links on the right> then Select Purchase> From there you can search for All Media that you have on iTunes, can all select from the two options on the Right> All or Not on this Computer & then once you've selected your choice you can see what you have and what's not on your computer, but this only works for media you've purchases through iTunes. At the moment they're both on the external hard drive and also stored on the computer but I'm quickly running out of memory on my iBook G4 so I'd like to only keep them on the external hard drive and, if possible, delete them from my computer's hard drive. At the moment, when the hard drive isn't plugged in a lot of the files won't play and I get the exclamation mark next to the particular song in iTunes, but everything plays fine when the hard drive is plugged in.

Sounds like your files are playing from the external drive already. To check go to iTunes - Preferences - Advanced and check the Media Folder Location. Change it to the external drive if you need to.

You can move the iTunes library to the TC.. but it has consequences..
Moving it is the easy part.. Apple have specific instructions.

The problem is the TC is far from ideal place to move the library to.. a USB drive plugged into the computer (USB3 if you have it is very fast.. but even USB2 is faster than TC).
Once the library is there.. you will have a few issues.
1. You cannot back it up with Time Machine.. so you must take steps to back it up manually or using a third party utility.
2. Where are you going to back up to.. a USB plugged into the TC is the worst possible location as any file copy will be exceedingly slow.
3. The network drive will tend to continually drop out.. and Apple did not design the TC with media extensions.. so it is nothing but a dumb as a board HDD in a router.. it will give constant errors in iTunes that it has lost the library because of the time it takes for the disk to respond to requests.
4. The best way is to not put your Media library onto the TC at all.. but Good Luck..

If you used the Finder to move the files, iMovie will have lost track of them. iMovie holds the locations of the Event files, and Project files contain references to those locations. If you move the files, iMovie has no way of knowing where they are.
If you can, first move all the files back to their original locations. Plug in the external drive. Open iMovie and move the files in iMovie's interface (help explains how, but basically, just drag and drop in the event pane).
Then you can connect the drive to the new computer, and iMovie will see them.

A erase of the drive or boot partition is not always necessary.
Flashing question mark at boot could be a easy fix, sometimes it's the firmware that simply forgot what bootable volume to boot from.
Try holding the Option key down while booting the machine, a choice of bootable options appears, select your OS X and boot up.
When you get in, head to System Preferences > Startup disk and set it again new. This will tell the firmware what to boot from. Test it to see.
Now if you don't have a selection of bootable options, it could be that the drive is dead, or OS X is erased or corrupted so it can't boot.
You'll have to run through this list of fixes to see what's going on, if you need a hardware fix or what, I've also included links if you can't fix it and need to recover your data etc.
(If it's not remmebering your boot selection then also run through the list to reset things.)

You can't do that.
And before you decide to store any music that you own on a computer at work, talk to your IT department. Many organizations do not permit it for legal reasons. Standard policies are that anything stored on company owned computers is the property of the company. It could not be legally stored on their machines unless you transfer the licenses and all copies, physical and digital, to the company, meaning you no longer own the music. If they were to be audited and could not prove that they own the music, they would be subject to copyright violation penalties. Just use your iPod when you're at the office if you want to listen to music.

I do not have iMovie, so I can't try this!
Run iTunes with your iPad connected to the computer, either by the USB cable or by WiFi. Select the iPad under DEVICES in iTunes. Click on Apps at the top of the window and scroll down to File Sharing. If iMovie appears there, select it. The Documents window to the right is where you transfer files to (Add) and from (Save To) the iPad.

Make sure, your iTunes version is up to date. Connect your iPhone to an USB port and launch iTunes.

If you want a separate folder with your photos, download the camera roll contents by connecting the iPhone to USB. You emac will see it as camera and you can download the photos using Image Capture to a folder on your Mac, or using iPhoto or Aperture to your photo library.
