  • How do you back up your contacts if you don't have a Mac?

I use to have a windows mobile phone and there were 2 different apps: Dashwire and MyPhone. Both of them would back up your phone for you and it you ever had to reset your phone, you could just restore your contacts and stuff from either one of those websites. How can I back up my contacts with the iPhone 4?
    Thanks for any help.

Outlook, yahoo, google, etc. are all programs that are compatible with iphone.
You haven't looked at the manual have you?
    Page 58:
    "Contacts
Sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Yahoo! Address Book, and Google Contacts on a Mac, or with Yahoo! Address Book, Google Contacts, Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), Windows Contacts (Vista and Windows 7), or Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with one application at a time.)"

  • How do I back up My contacts from My iphone to My computer

I was told I can use itunes to back up My contact but I can't seem to find how I could do that?

The normal backup you create in itunes includes your contacts as well as other data (read
Learn more about what is stored in a backup.) Information on backup and restore can be found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If you just want to save all your contacts to your computer you can use a free app like MCBackup and email a files containing your contacts to yourself

  • How do I back up my contacts from my iPhone to iTunes

My mobile phone carrier (optus) is preparing us for the delivery of the IPhone 4, and to get ready they are changing us from our old SIM card to a new "MicroSIM". I am confused with step 1...
Step 1. Connect your current iPhone to iTunes to back up your contacts as you will need to move them from your old SIM to the new SIM (which I have ready to go)....How do i do this? Am i just syncing my contacts with my yahoo address book. This doesn't seem right.
the other steps I think I'm okay with...
    2. swap the SIM over, and follow some steps with my phone carrier
    3. sync iPhone to Itunes again to restore contacts
    4. SIM swap is complete, and this new "microSIM" is ready to go when the new iPhone 4 is delivered.
Your help is appreciated with Step 1.....thanks

thanks for your reply, but Im still a little confused.
I do currently have an iPhone 3G, and they want me to use theis new SIM card until delivery of my new iPhone 4.
So, the contacts that i currently have in my phone are different to my contacts in my yahoo account. My yahoo account basically just has all email addresses and that's it.
So, do I have to update my yahoo contact list first, then "sync"? Does this then mean I've backed them up also?
Or, when I sync, will it take my contacts from my phone into iTunes and my yahoo account??

  • How can I back up the contacts on this windows phone

I just purchased the iPhone and need to back up the contacts fro the windows phone.  How can I do this?

They automatically sync to your Hotmail when you add them, if you use your Hotmail address.  As for your contacts from Facebook and other social media that show up, those of course are part of that social media account. One other thing.  If you have Windows 8.1, your contacts are backed up automatically (as are your texts, your list of apps, etc.) so that if you need to restore, update, or get another Windows Phone, you'll have them made available to you again.

  • Ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos on the ipod to my new pc ?

ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos and music on the ipod to my new pc ?

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content such as music, videos, and photos synced to the device, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software available to assist you with this task.

Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

I'm trying to back up what's on my iPod Nano 5th generation, but when I plug it into my computer, I can't click the backup button. How can I fix this, or is there an alternative?

  • How do I delete all my contacts from my iPod Touch?

I'm giving my iPod touch to my grandson and want to delete all my contacts from my iPod Touch. These have been synched from Mobile Me (.Mac). I've unchecked the synch contact box in the setting section of iTunes, but the contacts do not get deleted. (Also, I want to be careful not to accidentally delete them from my .Mac contact list in the process.) I successfully removed my music and photos in this manner, but the contacts are not being deleted. Advice would be appreciated.

Connect the Touch to iTunes and click the Restore button. After the Touch is erased and the OS is re-loaded, you'll have the option to load your last backup or set it up as a new iPod (which is what you want).
Alternatively, you can simply use the built-in utility. On the Touch go to Settings/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings. That may actually take longer than Restoring though.

  • How can I back up my contacts and apps to Windows 7 if my iPhone has been previously sync'd to a Mac?

I have always used my iBook G4 to sync and backup my iPhone 3GS, until the screen went wrong on my Mac.
I managed to salvage the songs off the mac by turning it into a mass storage device (holding T on startup), and I'm currnetly using a Windows 7 laptop whilst saving up for a new Mac.
I'm trying to back up all my contacts and apps to iTunes but as it was initially sync'd to a mac, it is saying that all my apps, contacts etc etc will be lost!
Is there any way to download my apps and contacts (all contents of my iPhone really) to iTunes on Windows if it was originally run via a Mac?
I'm due for an upgrade to the iPhone 4 on Friday and I'd like to get all my stuff backed up before then please!
    Can anyone help?

Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
    Then back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to the new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

  • I have an iphone4 and i can only hear calls when i use speakerphone.  I'm trying a master reset but how do i back up my contacts from my address book??

I have an iphone4 and I can only hear calls when I put them on speakerphone.  The people I'm on the phone with can hear me I just cant hear them.  I am about to try a master reset but how do i backup my contacts from my address book? Does itunes do that when i backed up the rest of the stuff on my phone?

Back it up in iTunes! Just make a backup of the entire device but make sure you check sync contacts and the option to add contacts from phone to address book on computer.
