How do I back up my entire Thunderbird account and all emails?

Thunderbird has been having more and more crashes and I think I may have to uninstall it and put in back on the computer. Before I do that, I want to back up all my emails. I am having difficulty with that. The emails are coming from an AOL address. Everything else on the computer backs up to the cloud. Thanks

Your data is all in your Thunderbird profile. If you reinstall Thunderbird, it will just continue using the same profile, since, in theory at least, profiles are untouched by installing or deleting Thunderbird. So, you may not need to do anything in order to "back up your emails" as they should just stay in place. OTOH, the profile itself might be the reason for issues in Thunderbird.
Regardless of all this, it's a good idea to back up your profile from time to time.

It is just a folder, so you can back it up by copying it in your file manager. If you copy messages to the Local Folders account beforehand, they will also be downloaded and available to your backup, if you are not happy relying on just the cloud for backup.
