How do I back up my ipod library to disc???

Went back this morning, did the exact same thing I did yesterday, and the Burn option was not grayed out in the menu. I guess iPhoto was having a bad day yesterday.

I looked this up, and it said to select the pics I wanted to back up, then click on Share, Burn. Problem is, all the options, including Burn, are grayed out. Does anybody know the "trick" to get this to work?

How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data canny be read from or written to"?

Regarding not being able to open iPhoto.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Were you able to create a new library?
If so then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I need to have my MAC (Snow Leopard) hard drive replaced.  How can I back up my iTunes Library?

Just drag-copy the entire iTunes folder, presuming all your content is in that folder, to your backup device.

how can i back up my iTunes library if i want to uninstall it?

    Quit iTunes.
    Locate your external hard drive.
Mac: On the Desktop or Finder sidebar.
    Windows: In My Computer
Drag the iTunes folder (backed up earlier) from your external hard drive to whatever location you desire on your internal hard drive. It is recommended that you choose the default location for the iTunes folder, which is:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\My Music\
    Windows 7 or 8: \Users\username\Music\
Open iTunes while holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
In the resulting dialog, click the Choose Library button.
Select the iTunes folder you just moved to the internal hard drive.
Click Choose (Mac OS X) or Open (Windows) and then choose the iTunes Library file inside .
After following these steps, iTunes will open and your iTunes Library will be restored.

How do I back-up my itunes library in newest version of itunes?

Fast backup for iTunes library  (Windows)
Grab SyncToy  2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time.
If your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes, regardless of the drive letter or path it appears on.

The memory on my MAC is full. It holds 4GB of RAM of which 79GB are photos. I would like to back up my photos to an external drive but just do not know how. I do not wish to use time machine. How do I back up my photo library, then delete them from my MAC to free up that 79GB? Thank you.

    Hi
Just to clarify a couple of points in your post.
RAM (memory) is different from hard drive space. You have 4GB of RAM, but that has no bearing on the amount of drive space you have, of which we know that 79GB are photos.
If those photos are in iPhoto, you should be able to move the entire iPhoto Library, from the Pictures folder, to your external hard drive. You can just drag and drop. Do not have iPhoto open while you're doing this. Once it's done, you can double-click on the moved iPhoto Library file to associate it with iPhoto, so that the app remembers where the library is for next time.
One more thing. When you move a file to a different location, and then delete the original, you don't have a backup. You still only have one copy. So if that external drive dies, you will lose all your photos. Time Machine is a very good way to prevent this from happening. You should dedicate a different drive for Time Machine backups.

  • How do I back-up my ipod touch 4g?

so I have the white screen of death and I heard that rebooting might help it. but if it doesn't work, I really dont want to lose all of my apps, musics, bookmarks, data, EVEYRHTING!! so will backing-up my ipod(for the first time) before rebooting( for the first time) EVERY SINGLE THING I have on my ipod? if it can: 1) how do I back-up my ipod? 2) once i've rebooted, how do I get those saved data and put it back into my ipod??

Sadly if you have the white screen of death you may not be able to do much, all depending on if it's the screen that has malfunctioned or the iOS.  First I would recommended plugging into iTunes and seeing if its recognized to be able to backup.  These instructions are listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 including the answer to your second quesiton.
If you are unable to backup, indicating youriOS is not working properly, I would start with a 2 button reset as outlines on the 2nd slide here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the iPod continues to boot to a white screen and does not allow you to backup, you may be out of luck and have to follow the rest of the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
    I hope this helps!

  • How can i back up my ipod?? PLEASE HELP!

Hi, ive had 3 ipods in the last 2 years, 2 of which have froze so i lost all my music. Is it possible to back up the actual ipod? (not the itunes library as i deleted my music - stupid i know)I've noticed in itunes there is an option to back up to disk, but this doesn't allow you to back up the ipod, only the library. I have also tried selecting all the folders on the ipod in my computer and sending them to the hard drive but this wouldn't work. I don't know if this is even possible but your help would be apreciated.
    Thanks very much
    Craig
p.s if it makes any differance i have a 1st gen 4gb nano with around 1800 songs

You need the music back in iTunes in order to back it up.
First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Once it's all there, see this.
