How do I back-up my iTunes music to a CD?

I would like to put my iTunes Library onto "back-up" CD's
How would I do this?

You can use the CD/DVD authoring tools provided with your computer, however backing up like this becomes clumsy once your library occupies more that a few discs. I would recommend the approach in this User Tip.

  • How do I back up my ITUNES music?

I just spent a week going through all my CDs and picking my favorite songs to import onto my nano. After uploading the songs, I deleted them from my library so as not to take up too much space on my computer. (The only ones that remain in I-Tunes are the ones I purchased from the I-tunes store.)
In the event of a crash, I wouldn't want to have to import all the CDs again. Is there a way I can make a back up of my Nano in Windows XP? I would like to save all 950 songs in a folder and then zip it to minimize space. Then if worse came to worse, I can just import the entire songlist back onto the nano in one step. But I can't figure out how to do this. I can't drag songs from I-tunes to Windows folders. Can this be done? If so, what's the best way?

  • Why does itunes randomly put my music in my trash and how can I get them back into my itunes music list? How can I prevent it from occurring again?

Itunes has randomly placed some of my songs (it has done this a few times now. Not all of them but at times hundreds/thousands) in my trash and I don't know why this happens. How can I replace them back into my itunes music library? Is there a reason this is happening? What can I do so it doesn't happen again?

Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer as you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new/rebuilt computer using the same tool used to back it up, ideally before installing iTunes.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.

  • How can i back up my iTunes library if i want to uninstall it?

how can i back up my iTunes library if i want to uninstall it?

    Quit iTunes.
    Locate your external hard drive.
Mac: On the Desktop or Finder sidebar.
    Windows: In My Computer
Drag the iTunes folder (backed up earlier) from your external hard drive to whatever location you desire on your internal hard drive. It is recommended that you choose the default location for the iTunes folder, which is:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\My Music\
    Windows 7 or 8: \Users\username\Music\
Open iTunes while holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
In the resulting dialog, click the Choose Library button.
Select the iTunes folder you just moved to the internal hard drive.
Click Choose (Mac OS X) or Open (Windows) and then choose the iTunes Library file inside .
After following these steps, iTunes will open and your iTunes Library will be restored.

  • How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot get the music off it.

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do i back up my data/music

i need to reupdate my ipod/itunes, but it says that it will wipe out my music, but it also says if i back up my music i should still have it on there. how do i do that?

If you update the iPod, it will not remove anything from the iPod or iTunes Music folder on the computer.
If you Restore the iPod, it will delete everything off the iPod and it will nto remove anytihg from the iTunes Music folder on the computer.
The music is in the iTunes Music folder on the computer so you can simply reload the iPod.
If you update iTunes, it will not remove any of your music, either from the iPod or the computer.
You should back up your iTunes music folder, especially any purchased music you have, as a habit.
All you have to do is copy the iTunes Music folder onto CD/DVD.

  • How to get back library after iTunes update?

All of my music is installed in a folder named iTunes Music on a USB external hard drive. Everything was working fine until yesterday. I might have made a mistake. Without the external hard drive attached to my laptop, I downloaded and installed the most recent version of iTunes for windows. With the external drive attached, I opened iTunes and the library is gone and the entire music panel in iTunes is empty. I tried to change the library back to F:iTunes Music, the folder where the music is stored, but nothing happened. What do I do now? Please help.

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact. If you had moved your previous library to the external drive navigate to it and open the library file from there: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • How do I back up my iTunes folder to my time capsule?

How do I back up my iTunes folder to my Time Capsule?

    A couple of issues here:
First, keeping backups and other data on the TC's internal HD presents problems.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for an explanation and some possible workarounds.
Second, as Bob says, Time Machine can't back up either the TC's hard drive or a USB drive connected to it.
it's a bit messy, but this might work:
Attach a USB drive to the TC and put your iTunes library on it.
Create a disk image (as in #Q3) on the TC's internal HD, and use a 3rd-party app such as Chronosync to back iTunes up to the disk image.  I've not done that, so can't swear to it, but it appears it would work.

  • How do I back-up my itunes library in newest version of itunes?

How do I back-up my itunes library in newest version of itunes?

Fast backup for iTunes library  (Windows)
Grab SyncToy  2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time.
If your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes, regardless of the drive letter or path it appears on.

How can I back up only iTunes and iPhoto, so I can reformat my computer and restore the files in these two programs?  I have an external, but its not big enough to create a time machine copy of my HDD.  I have an iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  I am also running Windows 8 via Parallels and I would prefer to keep this partition in tact, but if thats not possible I'll re instal that program.
