How do I back up my phone contacts without iTunes?

iTunes is telling me that it won't recongnise the content on my iPhone. It is telling me to restore. I have not backed up my contacts. Is there any way of doing this without using iTunes.
Is there any chance that iTunes did it on my last sync (3 days ago)? If so, how can I know?
Thanks a lot in advance

Hello all. I have found a solution.
I downloaded an app to my iPhone called "xport contacts". It allowed me to send my contacts to my pc. I then imported them into Outlook.
I highly recommend this.
Wjosten - it may be right that itunes has backed up my contacts anyway. But I was rather nervous since Apple does not guarantee that it has.
I will let you know.
Thanks all.
And for anyone new to this thread, with a similar problem: "xport contacts" is terrific.

  • How do i back up new phone contacts to microsoft outlook 2007 ?

iam using Windows 7 Home Premium OS, and have all my iphone contacts saved on microsoft outlook 2007.
Every time i add a few new contacts to my iphone 2G 3.1.3 OS, and sync it to Outlook 2007; all the contacts from outlook overwrite allcontacts on iphone. I end up losing all my new contacts created on iphone. I am using iTunes version 10.1.0.56.
Please help me with the right steps to save my contacts and messages and voice memos too.
    Thanks

The safest thing to do with your pictures is to import them to your computer, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  You can also back up your contacts separately by using an app like My Contacts Backup.
Then back up your phone, either to iCloud or to your computer using iTunes, as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766.

  • How do I back up my phone settings when doing a restore

How do I back up my phone settings when doing a restore? Or  do I need to ?

This article explains how to back up your phone, then restore the backup to your new phone to transfer your data and settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.
You can use the same sim card if it's the same carrier and a compatible size.  You would need to contact your carrier to have the service transferred to the new phone.

  • How do I back up my iPhone 5s when iTunes doesn't recognize my phone?

I haven't backed up my iPhone 5s for a couple of months and I received a message that my data exceeds iCloud storage.  The other day I connected my phone to my iMac and pulled up iTunes and a screen popped up asking me if this was a new phone!  I'm afraid to proceed because I'm guessing I will lose all of my "Notes" and pictures that exceeded the storage limit on iCloud.  Any suggestions as to how I can back up my phone and not lose information stored on my phone?
One more note, I haven't been able to update to the lates IOS version 7.1 because it needs 2.5GB of storage and I want to back up before I make space available.
    Thank you so much!!

    DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED IN ITUNES
If you have connected your device to your computer and it does not appear in the side bar in iTunes then for Windows computers read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 or if you have a MAC then readhttp://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 for troubleshooting steps.
    try also
    RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

  • I lost my iPhone. i got a new one, how can i back up all the contacts i had in the old one (iPhone 4S).

i lost my iPhone. i got a new one, how can i back up all the contacts i had in the old one (iPhone 4S). When i go to Itunes it start as a new iphone.

Contacts are not a part of back up.
Contacts are sync with a compatible programme on your computer depending on your operating system (Windows or Mac). For example, Microsoft Outlook (for both Windows and Mac), Windows Contacts (for Windows) and Addressbook (for Mac).
Or contacts are also backed up in iCloud (depending if you chose to do so).
So, sync back the contacts from any of these programmes. If you have not made a backup of your contacts in any of these progammes, then they are gone.

  • How do I back up my restored iPhone to iTunes, without it reloading old content?

How do I back up my restored iPhone to iTunes, while setting it up as new, without having it reload all my old apps? I tried once, setting it up as a new iphone, and it reloaded all my old apps anyway. I then restored the phone AGAIN, and haven't plugged it into my computer for fear of it doing it again. I want to start over new and back up the "new" phone with my new apps, and sync my old photos, but I do not want to sync old apps.

  • Can you back up two phones on one itunes account?

I have just purchased an iPhone5s and want to transfer all of my information from my iPhone4s onto it. I was told that this could be done by first backing up my phone using itunes. Sounded simple.
Now i am having great difficulties!
My wife nacked up her phone earlier this year. Every time i go to back up my phone (turning on itunes and then plugging my phone in via usb) it comes up with two options - set up as a new iphone OR restore from my wife's phone.
I am really unsure what to do here. I fear losing all the data on my phone.
Is it possible for the one itunes account to back-up two phones?
    Please help.
    Thank you in advance.

Select setup as "New", the next screen should prompt you to rename your phone. Just name it what you already have it named. After that, you should be able to sync/backup and all of your data & settings will still be exactly as you've already set them up on your phone. That message is more threatening than what really happens.

how to get back music lost while syncing to itunes?

If the music you lost during the sync process is no longer on the iPod, in your iTunes library, or in a backup elsewhere, I'm afraid you are out of luck.
You may be able to redownload any lost purchases via iCloud (pending you live in a country where iCloud has gone live).
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
