How do I back up SMS to my mac?

I have a Nokia 7390 and would REALLY like to backup about 150 important SMS text messages to my mac computer.   I've searched loads of discussion forums which all talk about Nokia PC suite (no good for a Mac) and iSync (no good for the 7390) and the Nokia mac software (which seems to be no good for SMS).
Is there any way at all to get my old texts off my phone and onto my computer?
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

iCloud can't back up Macs, only iPhones, iPads and iPods touch. Mac backups are too big for iCloud.
As you can't use iCloud, start looking for other services like CrashPlan, but if you are planning on making backups only in one site, I recommend you to get an external drive and use Time Machine to make backups. With this way, you won't need an Internet connection if your files get damaged and you will be able to restore them quickly

how to view backed up SMS messages in itunes or on my pc

If they are included in the iTunes backup, you do not view them.  iTunes backups are not viewable, they are intended solely for restoring to an iOS device.
If the device has been used as designed and the pictures were regularly copied off the device to the computer, look in the folders where you put them.
If the device has been used as designed and contacts were synced with a supported application on the computer or a cloud service, look in that application or cloud service.

  • To prepare for upgrade to Yosemite; How do I back up Office 2011 for Mac to external hard drive?

Any thoughts from the community; Is it a good idea or not to upgrade my MacBook Pro?  Any help is appreciated. On my Macbook Pro to prepare for upgrade to Yosemite, I have backed up to time machine the Macintosh Hard Drive which has my applications with the exception of Office for Mac 2011.  Office for Mac is on a separate drive; how do I back up that separate drive?

If it's on a separate drive, then it would have nothing to do with installing a new OS on another drive.

  • Ios 8 how to switch back from sms to imessage

One of my messages did not deliver, so I clicked "Send as SMS". But now I can not go back to iMessage anymore.
    Any suggestions…
I did file already a Bug Report.
    enjoy

I have the the same problem in reverse, iMessage sends (and reports delivered) to my daughters iPhone, the problem is that she never gets it because her data is turned off and she is not connected to wifi. I try to click the message and get it to "Send as text message" but iMessage says "delivered" when in fact it has not.  I can bypass that by turning off iMessage, but then, people sending me iMessages get the same "delivered" when it is in fact not.  So mine seems to be stuck in iMessage even when it is unavailable.

  • How do I back up iPhone to new Mac without losing all my music?

My old MacBook Pro died and I bought a new one.  i need to sync and back up my iPhone to iTunes on the new Mac, but my friend says that since there is no music in the Mac, it will erase all the music on my iPhone and I will lose it.  A lot of my music was not bought on iTunes, bu ripped from my CD's or bought elsewhere. There is no music on my new Mac.  I hope I can sync the iPhone to the new Mac and all my music will be copied to the Mac. Is this possible?  Is there a correct way to do it.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • How can i save iphone sms thread to mac

I need to save a long SMS thread from my iphone to my mac.  Afraid of the third party software that's suggested on forums.  Help?
    Thanks!!

    Hi...
Even if you could save the file on your Mac, because your iPhone is iOS based, you would not be able to read the messages on the Mac OS X. Two different operating systems.

This will tell you everything you need to know about the iPhone backup, including where that backup is stored on your computer:

The iPhone backup is not viewable. To see/extract the contents requires third-party software, like this:

  • How to turn off threaded sms on iPhone 4?

    Hi all
I get lost in the way iPhone stores the sms messages. I cannot find back to both incoming and outgoing messages since they are not stored in one linear time sequence.  The same functionality was also (by default)?) on the e-mails but happily that could be disabled.  If it is impossible to turn off threaded sms I quite frankly must buy another phone.
Hope someone out there has discovered how to disable the threaded sms functionality.
    Cheers
    FR

This is not an option on the iPhone.

If you backed up the phone to either iCloud or iTunes before deleting the message, restore the badckup.  If it wasn't backed up, it's gone, gone, gone.

  • Any info from Apple on how to downgrade back to IOS 3

Not happy with IOS 4, phone lags. Any info from Apple on how to downgrade back to IOS3.13?

I've just downgraded my old 3G to 3.1.3 before giving it to my girlfriend. While I was quite happy with iOS4, I did note that a few minor things were a little slower (mainly SMS), and she hammers this feature so I thought it best to hand over the device on 3.1.3.
Downgrading was incredibly easy, it's actually a fairly trivial task if you follow one of the many excellent guides. The entire thing only took about 1 hour, from first reading the article to the phone being at the "connect to itunes" screen on 3.1.3.
Just google "lifehacker iphone 3g downgrade", and you should get the same article I used.
The annoying thing is, she's now wanting to upgrade it to iOS4 herself because she wants folder. I shouldn't of even bothered downgrading it. lol.

  • How to recover the deleted SMS message, Contacts, CallHistory and Photos from ipad.

how to recover the deleted SMS message, Contacts, CallHistory and Photos from ipad.

If you did the backup of your data before deleting then you can easily get back the data by the following steps:
    1. First don’t connect your iPad directly to computer because the iTunes only saves the most recent backup
    2. Now make sure that you have a valid backup as listed iTunes> preferences> devices
    3. Before connecting your iPad make sure to check iTunes>preferences> devices "prevent iPad from syncing automatically." Because this will ensures we don't erase the previously stored backup. Then select ok and close the window after checking " don't sync"
    4. Now connect your iPad to your computer .
    5. Select the iPad as seen in the left bar of iTunes, as listed under the devices .
    6. Select version and click on restore from options.
    7. It takes a while to for iPad to erase itself, reset and restart.
    8. After the iPad is restart you will see Set Up Your iPad in iTunes on your computer, and now just click the restore from the backup and click continue. It will take 10 to 12 minutes to recover your data from iPad, including the deleted sms, notes, photos, music, contacts etc.
