How do I backup everything on my Zen Xt

We have had several problems with this Zen Xtra. First, in December the hardri've had problems!! Couldn't get assistance without sending ir all back to Creative. We didn't want to do this and be without it for any length of time. The way the individual acted on the phone at Creative was a little worrisome too. We didn't want to take a chance sending back. So, we looked out here and we actually got it to work via a suggestion in this discussion forum!! Yeah! Now, problems again! It's like the unit won't take a charge. It will only play if it's hooked up with the adapter!! I was going to try to buy a new battery! Not! You can only get one from Creative! It's very confusing all this warranty info, 30 days, 60 days and then some things are guaranteed for a year. Nothing is in writing, it's not in the manual. And why should it cost $40.00 when you send it back in,if it's not your fault!! That I don't understand!! It's already cost us enough upfront and then these problems are very frustrating. Now we have to be without the unit for atleast 0 days after they receive it! I wish it was easier to get things fixed! I guess we have to take a chance this time and return it with a $40.00 check since there's not a way just to try a new battery! Has anyone else had similar problems?
I now need to know how to back it up. Creative re-formats it when they receive it and we will lose all our songs if we don't back it up first! (Thanks to Douglas for filling me in on this!!!) I don't want to have to pay for another long distance call to ask for more assistance. Will someone help me?

OK, in summary...
To backup the player you need to use say MediaSource to copy all your files back to the PC.
The important thing is that in MediaSource settings you select a folder structure, otherwise you'll end up with a mess of files in one directory, and any duplicate filenames won't be copied back.
For example here's a screenshot of the relevant page from MediaSource's settings.
<IMG src="http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net/ms7.jpg">
Set the Default Media Folder to say Artist (for the first field) and Album (for the second field).
Set the Filename to something like Track Number _ Artist _ Album _ Track Title.
Then all you need to do is copy the files back to the PC.
Make sense?

  • How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro

How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro (playlists and music, etc.)
Everytime you need to update the firmware it deletes everything in your player and you have to make everything you had in it all over again. I know I have to transfer everything again, but you have to make the playlists all over again and that's kinda hard...

Faith: To backup the files you can either sync or simply do a manual copy of the files to the PC. You might want to take a look in the Appendix of my?Nomad Primer which has some advice about backing up.
You can't backup playlists with the Creative software, but Notmad Explorer will back them up.

  • How do i backup everything on my iphone 4

i am a new iphone user and my new phone is defective.  how can i backup everything that i have created and saved on my verizon iphone?  i am transferring to a replacement iphone.  i have read way too many support pages that clearly fail to properly address this issue.  and please dont mention anything related to itunes sync as it doesn't save many things.  i need to backup my call log, text messages, to do lists created with 3rd party apps, facebook settings, photos (they disappeared when i did a restore, luckily i did a manual backup of those), microsoft exchange settings, favorite contacts, the arrangement of my apps, and a great many other things.
    many thanks in advance

Just sync your phone before you get your replacement. First thing done when you perform a sync is an iPhone backup. Read here to find out what's included in that backup:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
The rest of your content should be on your computer: Apps, Music, etc.
Then, when you get your replacement phone, follow the directions here:

  • How to not backup everything?

    Hi,
Is it possible to only backup my pictures, apps, and documents instead of backing up the whole machine? If yes, how ?
    Thanks.

Go to your System Preferences, and then choose Time Machine. If you click on the Options button, you'll be able to add drives and folders that you don't want to back up. Add in all the stuff you want to skip (for example, the System and Library folders), and Time Machine won't include it.
One word of caution, though. Most applications have files that get placed somewhere in the System or Library folders. Preferences and settings and support files and such.
    Good luck getting everything configured.

  • Backuping everything on iPod Touch

How do I backup everything on my iPod Touch? I need to update to 2.2 from 1.0, and I need to backup everything on it. How can I do this. Also why does this update require a reformat of the device?

I updated mine and did nothing out of the ordinary.

Itunes does a back up, itunes should have your music in it, your contacts should be in you contact program on your computer, calendar should be on your calendar on your computer.

  • I'm trying a full restore in Lion, but it won't. States that there isn't enough space on the Mac HD. How do I restore everything from a recent Time Machine Backup?

I'm trying a full restore in Lion, but it won't. States that there isn't enough space on the Mac HD. How do I restore everything from a recent Time Machine Backup?

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

  • I want to upgrade iOS from 5 to 6, but when I go to synch everything in preparation, it tells me I will lose all my stuff on the iPhone and iPad which is unique.  How can I backup or do a "real synch" (both sides have same data) and then upgrade?

I want to upgrade iOS from 5 to 6, but when I go to synch everything in preparation, it tells me I will lose all my stuff on the iPhone and iPad which is/are  unique.  How can I backup or do a "real synch" (both sides have same data at end of process) and then upgrade?

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • How do you backup your Zen Touch (or any other playe

I have some seen posts that suggest that you backup your MP3 player. This sounds like a sensible idea. I own a Zen Touch, and so far have been using WMP 0 exclusi'vely to sync files to my ZT.
Can someone tell specifically how I might backup my ZT (even though I have all my music on my PC, so I probably do not need to do something explicitly)?
I think others might find this backup information useful.

hot_guitar: Backing up is covered in my Nomad Primer, but as Cat intimates, it's just a case of backing up the data. There's no way just to image the player, for example.
lukeg_uk: Similar to hot_guitar, take a look at my Nomad Primer. I think you'll find you can't copy files with DRM back to the PC. I would guess there are guides about backing up the licenses and the files on the PC itself, at least you would hope (and this is one of the irritations about DRM).

  • I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water. It still does everything but get service, can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one...

I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

  • Zen micro, how do i delete everythi

i want to delete all the tracks i put on it and start from scratch.is there a way to do this without going one by one? i tried deleting the playlist, deleting the genre (only had one on there so far) but the music is still there when i go to "all tracks". how do i delete everything? also on a sidenote, what does the new firmware update do? thanks

The player makes a distinction between removing a track from the Now Playing and actually deleting the track from the player, and you can't delete a song while it's playing. If the song is playing, Remove will be your only option, and then it will just be removed from Now Playing but not actually deleted.
To delete a song fully from the player when you aren't docked, you find the track in the music library and use the little drop-down menu button (the lower right button) and you can choose Delete. That's why you think you're removing songs but they don't go away - you just removed them from your Now Playing list while still leaving the track on the player.
The best way to delete everything, in my opinion, would be to just pull up all your tracks in the Organizer when you are docked and then select all of them using the Shift key (click first, hold down shift, then click the last one) and then just hit the delete key. Or else you can reformat, like the others said.

  • How to backup everything in my iPhone?

Is there a way to backup everything including apps and settings to my desktop for later restoration?

Yes, I did read the instruciton and I don't see a way to tell where to save my backups to that's why I'm asking the question.
The article tells you where the backup will be saved. There is no setting to change it.
    "On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\"
It's kinda dumb for iTune to not offer me an option to where I want to save my backup to. Let's say that it's saved in my "C" drive. If my computer is dead where can I restore my backup from then.
You restore your "C" drive from its backup. Then you can restore the iPhone. Why are you so concerned about the iPhone backup when your "C" drive is gone? It's unlikely that the iPhone will need restoring at just that time. You should be more concerned about always having a good backup of your "C" drive.
In addition, what about all my imported musics? Is there a way to specify where the imported music can be saved to? If the default is "C" drive and no option to specify a location that I want, I think it's pretty dumb.
The music is not saved in the iPhone backup files. Any music on the iPhone is already in the iTunes music library on your computer (music purchased using the iPhone will be copied to the iTunes library when syncing), so doesn't needs to be in the iPhone backups. The iTunes music library (probably on your "C" drive, but can be set elsewhere via iTunes preferences) will be backed up during your normal backups of the computer hard drive(s).

  • How to backup EVERYTHING

    Hello,
this is a sad day for me. I have accidentally dropped my 6 years old 17 inch powerbook and its screen has cracked. Apart from that it seems to be working fine, but I'm afraid that it is not going to live for long.
So I would like some tips on how to back up everything such as mails, preferences, bookmarks etc....in order to transfer them to my ext hard disk and then to my future laptop (I'm planning to buy soon a 15in Macbook Pro).
My current specs are OS X 10.3.9, (no dvd/cd drive, it stopped functioning a while ago)
    Please help!

you may want to use external hard drive and another Mac with 2 FireWire ports
    and OS 10.4 installed.
connect PowerBook to another Mac in "target mode":
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
also, connect the external hard dirve to secpnd FireWire port.
then use Disk Utility on the host Mac, select Restore option and make exact copy of your PowerBook's drive to the external (make sure the PowerBook is a "source", and external drive is a "destination")

    Hi experts,
I have some important data in the ides server for which i want to take backup of them.
I have some question regarding the same.
1.How to take backup/download of an entire module pool program with code, screen, etc.
2.How can we take backup/download for a DB table with its structure?
3.How can we take backup of a search help?
Please give some suggestions abt the same.
    Regards,
    Ashesh.

    Hi,
May be just for viewing, try downloading from SE80 transaction from the others option.
Here just try issuing the print, it will generate the spool.
Now using the spool, download to your desktop as required. It will have all the information regarding the attributes, fields, elements everything.
The only issue is, may be you need to take all the screens separately.
    Regards,
    Santhosh.
