How do I backup web browser prefs, bookmarks, and cookies?

I've got the hang of backing up files to an external hard drive. Not too complicated.
This weekend I'm installing a new hard drive so I've got to rebuild my desktop from scratch and re-import all my files from my external drive.
I use Firefox and I'm loaded up with bookmarks, preferences, and cookies for all kinds of sites I visit like Amazon.
Can all this be backed up just like files and folders? How do I backup bookmarks, preferences? And can cookies even BE backed up? Or do I have to re-enter passwords and such to all these sites I visit and start from scratch?

Hi, John. I have no experience using SuperDuper to make anything but a bootable clone, so I can't advise you on the ins and outs of using sparseimages. The one thing I would caution you about is that a sparseimage combines everything that's included in it into a single file, and if that file somehow gets corrupted and won't open, the contents may all be lost.
The great advantage of a regular clone over any other backup method, even when you aren't going to clone it back to your internal drive, is that every file in the clone is exactly where it was on the original: you don't have to keep track of where to copy each file back to. Just drag-copy it from wherever it is on the clone to exactly the same place on the reconstructed-from-scratch internal drive. But in the four years I've been using OS X, I haven't tried the kind of manual, piece-by piece restoration of essential data from a backup that you're contemplating, and I don't know what obstacles you may run into. My guess is that incorrect permissions will figure largely in whatever trouble you encounter, but permissions are still a dark mystery to me: I'll be no help to anyone with a permissions problem.

You don't need JavaTV to write a web browser.
Whichever Java platform you're using with JavaTV should provide enough.

How do you backup an app called Pen and Paper to ensure that the sheets created are saved? I lost them when I tried to backup and sync my device, then upgraded to iOS 10.5. What might have happened?

When you backup your iPad, the app data (not the app) is stored in that backup. When you updated, it should have restored the app data assuming you installed your backup when requested during the update.

My desktop computer crashed and I purchased a new laptop. I was able to salvage the hard drive and files. Can I pull my bookmarks and cookies from the old hard drive and install them on the new computer with FireFox installed?

I have saved the entire contents of the failing hard drive on an external hard drive. I need to know where the bookmarks and cookie files are loacated and where they need to go on the new system.

Formatted HD, but have backup of all the folders and files of Firefox. How can I restore everything, including plugins, bookmarks and saved settings?

I have formatted my computer's HD because of a problem with Windows 7, the thing is that Windows 7 didn't start, so I couldn't backup my Firefox settings, bookmarks, plugins, themes, personas and etc. the right way.
I also don't have a Firefox Sync account.
What I do have are all the folders and files of Firefox, because I just created a new partition and installed Windows 7 again, what I'm having trouble is finding a way (if there's any) to restore everything from my previous installation to the new one.
I have searched for days on both Google and on te Firefox forum with no success, the only questions I found are about restoring a profile, but what I'm trying to do is the same thing that the Firefox add-on " FEBE " does, which is restoring everything to the previous configuration.

I have tried copying, pasting and overwritting from the " .default " folder to my new installation of Firefox (yes, Firefox was closed), but when I opened it again, nothing was restored.
I every single folder and file Firefox ever created on my computer, this includes the installation folder (at Program Files), the profile (.default at AppData) folder, the Mozilla folder (ProgramData) and the Mozilla Firefox folder (also at AppData).
I also had the FEBE add-on installed, but like stated before, unfortunately I couldn't start Windows 7, forcing me to create a new partition to install a new copy of the OS.

To close any app that is running you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Running and force stop on the browser.

Certainly this may not always be the case, especially if an app is not coded correctly - but generally the guidelines for developers of smartphone code across multiple platforms discourages having an exit button and instead focuses on how to make sure an app is well behaved and low in demand during expected prolonged periods of dormancy.

i don't see a problem with your code.
but i know not every browser lets you (the popup creator) control those aspects of the browser unless the user has settings that allow you to control them. so, for example, the fact that you have a browser that continues to show the location field in your popup is not surprising.

Atomic Web Browser - Lost Bookmarks

I've been using this browser for a while now and I've more or less fallen in love with it. The tabs are much more Chrome-ish than in Safari (making them 100 000 times better in my book) and it really seems designed around the touch-screen interface. I did notice some slight bugs and even a few crashes, but this was only when I would try and open 15+ Tabs supimultaneously.
Just today though, I don't know what I did, the browser went and deleted all the bookmarks I had put on it. I couldn't find anyway to transfer my desktop bookmarks from Chrome, so I had to do it the old fashioned way, one at a time... I hadn't assembled my entire collection, but I had a working set of resources going. And then this happens! It's very frustrating because I don't know if he might go and do it again.
I was playing with the privacy and password settings. I gave it a try, thinking it would be cool, but I decided to remove it after a while. Imputing a code every time I open the app was getting annoying. And right after I did, all my bookmarks were gone. The strangest this is that I tried to reproduce the effect (to make sure it was the password or privacy settings that did this) but the bookmarks stay fine this time! I have no idea what caused it.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I am pretty new to Windows Phone 7, and now what I am trying to do is to create a simple app. When a user click to start this app, a browser will open and show the content of a webpage from a specific address.
I tried to use a webbrowser object, but it seems like that doesn't sport cookies. So I need my app to open a real web browser (maybe IE mobile) to do the job.
