How do I batch replace footage in Premiere Pro?

I want to batch replace all my footage. My original files were .mov but I want to replace all of these with .mpeg4. Long story short, I downloaded all original files from dropbox as mpeg4 but have the original project file where the editing was with the .mov files.
It will take far too long to upload and download the .mov files.
Is there a way to batch replace all .mov files with these .mpeg4 files?

When I create a new project I have PPro put "everything" in an Adobe folder on my temp file drive... E:\Adobe
INCLUDING the files that default to the C: drive - Drive C space http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1007934?tstart=0 see reply 4

  • How Do you import C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC

I just tried importing  Canon C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC, but get no sound. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I pray I don't have to convert this footage before bringing it in. Is there a workflow anyone can recommend? Do I have to convert the footage first? Thanks, Lucian

    Lucian,
PrPro should work natively with the Canon C100 footage ... it works with almost everything out there. And with the C100 shooting MP-4, AVCHD, & H.264, those are all handled easily by PrPro.
My question ... I would surmise (from what little info you include) you are shooting AVCHD? The reason I say this is that format splits audio & video into different files ... so it's a bit trickier to "import" than others that have the a & v in one file. Make sure you copied the whole top-leveL FOLDER and all sub-folders (not just the footage or contents of a folder) from the cam/card into the computer for AVCHD ... and then when you import into a project via the media browser your audio & video should be all connected by PrPro.
There have been numerous threads here where AVCHD users have "lost" their audio, only to find they'd simply left it behind by NOT copying all the folders & subfolders their camera had created.

  • Batch Replace Footage Option? CS6

    HEY!
I submitted a feature request and wanted to see if anyone else had some interest in this option. I use DUALEYES to sync .WAV files with my DSLR footage so I have high quality audio. When I have the new files, I then replace the original footage that is already imported to the Premiere Pro CS6 project. Without this option, to the best of my knowledge, you have to right click each file and choose replace. Then choose the new file that is labeled MVI_0889_CLEAN.MOV to replace the file MVI_0889.MOV ( The original with a basic scratch audio track. ) This works out great except for the fact I have to do it roughly 300 times for the footage I have imported. Next time I can do this all before starting the project, but this time, it would help out a lot to be able to batch replace.
Does anyone have a better way of doing this or a way to make this process easier?
It would be really nice if Premier Pro CS6 could do this processing of syncing audio and video files with clean separately recorder audio files. Dual Eyes saved me so much time, it's odd that Premiere doesn't have this built in. It would help out so much.
    Thanks!
    - Rob

    ExactImage,
That's a great idea and would work but I would like to have the new file names when imported. I know it isn't a big deal, but it would help me organize which footage is the new synced audio clips and which is the original.
My original clips with scratch audio is labeled MVI_2345.MOV
My new clips that have been created with DualEyes are labeled MVI_2345_CLEAN.MOV
If I go offline and then reconnect the media, I believe all of the clip names will be the same. I do feed my external audio into the 60D via a cable and the H4N audio recorder, so my original clips audio isn't all that bad. I just don't want it to slip through the cracks instead of having the clean HQ .WAV file synced clips in the timeline. That's where the _CLEAN label would help out if a batch replace footage option with a check box that says "Rename clip names to file names" would be excellent. FCP had something similar to this which worked great. You would right click on a clip and choose rename, then you had the option to rename the file to the clip name or the clip name to the file name. It helped out greatly when trying to keep a huge project organized. If we can add this feature to a new batch replace footage option, that would be AMAZING!
I switched from FCP 7 to Premiere Pro CS6, and what an excellent decision that was. Thank you ADOBE!

  • Canon 300 footage crashing Premiere PRO 6 on Mac PRO

As stated above... C300 footage crashes Premiere Pro when using on my Mac Pro. It happens when you scrub through the footage.  I have done plenty of searches and everyone with a Mac Pro seems to be having the same problem. The footage also has glitches in the frames when it plays and renders.  The only solution I have found is to transcode the footage to something else, which kind of defeats the purpose of using Premiere Pro 6 in the first place.  I know this is a problem specific to the Mac Pro because my Macbook Pro does not have this issue when dealing with C300 footage.  Does anyone know of any actual solution to this other than transcoding all the footage?

    Hello,
Because you've said you already "re-downloading":
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2, Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"?
Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.

  • Importing DVC PRO 50 footage into Premiere Pro

I recently imported some DVC PRO 50 footage into Premiere Pro.  I used a rented DVC PRO 50 deck via firewire 400.  The footage came in at 480 x 720.  Is this the actual resolution of that format or is it the default setting in the Premiere Pro import module?  A few months ago, I imported some HD footage from a tape format using the videographer's camera via Firewire.  It also came in at 720 even though it was supposed to be 1080 footage.  Is there a way to set a target resolution in the PP import module before importing?  Or does it bring in whatever resolution the source has?

DVCPRO50 is standard definition footage at 50Mbps. So 720x480 is correct.

  • How can I batch replace audio in .avi files without re-encoding?

I have hundreds of .avi files that have two audio channels. One channel contains the audio from the original video footage, and the other channel contains speech-shaped noise that was added later.
I need to replace the speech-shaped noise with a different type of noise (multi-talker babble) without re-encoding the video and degrading its quality. I would like to be able to do this in a batch process if possible. Do any of you have an idea about how to approach this in Premiere Pro?
Some more details: each .avi file is about 2-3 seconds long, so I would need the replacement noise to be the same length as the original noise.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • I cannot figure out how to edit my h.264 footage in Premiere Pro. Please help.

I have been trying to import AVI video into Premiere pro CS5. I have a new Dell Laptop with Windows 7. Every time I try to import the video into Premiere it only shows up as audio files. However, Windows Media Player plays the files just fine. I've tryed converting the files with Media Encoder but that sees the files as only audio files as well. I've used the G Spot program and it tells me that the Codec is the H264 codec and that the name is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. It also tells me that the codec is already installed on my computer.
I've had problems trying to edit h.264 stuff for longer than I'd care to admit and I just want to figure it out once and for all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Read the 2nd post for NEW ITEM pointer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/770072?tstart=0 and follow the instructions, to let PPro analyze the file for you
This is not going to help in the OP's circumstance; if the video doesn't play in Premiere, it's not going to magically start playing once dropped on the New Item button. That sets up a sequence with parameters that match the footage (is that what you mean by letting "PPro analyze the file?"), but Premiere is pretty black-or-white when it comes to format/codec support--it plays everywhere or it doesn't play at all.
If that were not true, DV footage would have to be edited only in a DV sequence, and AVCHD only in an AVCHD sequence. Of couse, that's not the case--sequences are format-agnostic.
