You can't. The Apple Messages app comes with iOS 5 as does the wifi update option.
Only the 3G and later iPod can go to iOS 5. -

there is nospecial way to locate your iPod, Apple will not help. Your SN is only good for identifying the iPod as yours if it is found.

Please , help me ..- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

Unfortunately, if the iPod was never backed up to iTunes, then the information is lost. But if you have synced the iPod with your iTunes account, you may be able to extract the serial number from there.

<Edited by Host>Do you have a backup of it on your computer's iTunes ? If you do then try going into Edit > Preferences on your computer's iTunes and on the Devices tab hover your mouse pointer over the backup name, that should give you the MEID number : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061

I started to do that then it said that this will become their apple I.D or similar and then I thought that will disconnect them from the same iTunes? I want them still on my iTunes as they are only young (8 and 10)? Or have I got this all wrong and even if I do set them up with a different e-mail will they still be on my itunes?
