How do I block adds with Safari???

No add blocking thing will REALLY make me switch now that we can not use PithHelmit. It was a god send
Is there any type of safari add blocker??

OK I am a techno peasant, I went to floppymoose and saw the script, but do I have to copy it to textedit and then put it in library/safari? Not sure how to make it work.
I'm not even sure this will fix my problem, I don't want to see the "enlarge your *****" adds on almost all websites, they are not pop-ups and I have disabled java-scripts in prefs. That is a hassle to have to do and then have to enable it to see other flash trailor and such.
Is there a keystroke that will turn java-script on/off w/out having to open prefs each time?
Any help appreciated.

How to fix blocked plugins in Safari on my Mac OS X?

    Which plug-ins, specifically?
If the plug-in was disabled by Apple, it's usually because of a security update (<cough>Flash</cough>), in which case the solution is to update to the latest ('more secure') version.
If you're on a corporate network then certain plug-ins may be disabled by your network admins - talk to them about.
If neither of the above apply then you should be able to manage settings via Safari -> Preferences -> Security -> Internet plug-ins

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Can you block webpages with safari

i was wondering if there was a way to block certain webpages with safari, i kno that you can make it so that a user can only view certain webpages, but that would mean blocking everything but the page that i dont want viewed.

Hi yes you can but you need to have the administrator account and you can only specify pages for user accounts. If this is the case then:
In 'safari' go to 'preferences' and 'secuirty' tab. Click 'Enable parental controls'. However this only works in Safari. If you want to stop people viewing pages in other browsers you'll need to set-up on that application or prevent them from accessing it all together in System Preferences.
    Hope this works

  • HT1688 How can I block calls with my IPHONE

Researching the internet shows that you have to jail break the IPHONE to be able to block phone numbers. Did the designers forget to design the application with the IPHONE? There has to be a way to block phone numbers without jail breaking the phone. Just about every cell phone out there has that ability, why not the IPHONE?

    FYI:
No cell phone has the ability to block calls/sms's...none. True blocking must be done by the carrier, as there is no other way to block calls/sms's.

  • How do I block adds served by Primawega?? I have added 3 popup blockers but none of them work! Running Windows 7...

Adds keep popping up from primawega and none of the popup blockers I've used have works. I'm running Windows 7
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == When I updated to Windows 7

Here is a mix of solutions from different sources:
Tools->Add-ons->Extensions->Loudmo (or anything strange, suspicious, unknown, etc.)
Disable them or even uninstall them. Restart Firefox.
    Quote:
"I deleted those over a week ago and everything has been running fine since. Check your add-on programs in Firefox."
    Quote:
"In the Mozilla Components directory [C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components], I found a library called wry-NhK-.dll, which got created/modified around the same time the problems started. Since I renamed the file, the popups stopped."
    Look out in
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components
for *.dll file which was created/modified at another date than all other files around.
    Quote:
"In profile directory [application data/mozilla/firefox/profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/extensions], there should be a number of directories that look like: . If you look under/inside those, one will have a components directory. There a conspicuous dll [-zfdgl.dll] will reside. Delete/rename that...
But you aren't done. Now in your registry, HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/AppDataLow there will be another conspicously named hive with a number of binary, hex and such entries. While I don't condone deleting anything in your registry, in this case, it was so obvious that it wasn't part of the normal computer, I delete the hive entry (NOT appdatalow) and viola, problem gone... "
Comment: In my registry, in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/AppDataLow I see only empty AVG folder (while I have just recently uninstalled AVG). So I suppose that deleting a hive of keys in this directory (if you have any keys in this directory) is relatively safe. But, just in case, you can backup it before deleting:
    right-click AppDataLow
    click Export
save the backup of this one registry folder somewhere
I hope you have some anti-malware program. Just in case primawega is a malware.

  • How to view webpage films with Safari

    Hello all!
I have offered me a new iMac (yes yes the 5K one) for Christmas :-)
At the very beginning viewing spiegel.de I could see the little video files. But now it has gone, like on my laptop.
I changed some settings in the Preferences. But I am unable to bring the capability back, to watch mp4 content ...
Any ideas? I would be grateful for a hint, because I don't want to download Chrome to watch web films again nor install the Adobe flash player.
Best greetings - have nice holidays!
    marek

    Thank you Allan!
Finally an answer All others are celebrating Christmas I suppose.
Funny enough, when I first started Safari and my news page spiegel.de I clicked just for fun on a linked video and it was working in Safari! I thought: fantastic I don't need to download Chrome to watch some videos in the net. But then I changed some security settings in Safari Preferences. And it was not working any more. ( And Adobe Flash I refuse to download - don't ask me, if you want to celebrate your evening again ... )
I will try to find it on myself. I keep you informed, if I find the culprit!
Have a nice and happy evening
    marek

  • My computer is old and any add-on's take up memory space. Usually these cause other programs to not work. How do I block add-ons?

Anything that occupies more space prevents my ability to use my computer. I have taken off all pictures, all programs which I can delete (including games from the Windows program.) I cannot download any new programs because it it at a maxiumum of 50% space occupied. I have to keep the older Firefox program because they use less space. Every so often I have to delete firefox and return to earlier versions because too much has been automatically added on. Then my computer refuses to work.

Also, after [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ updating to the latest Firefox], you can consider the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems Reset Firefox] feature via '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information'''. You can also try to update via Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''About Firefox'''.
(To revert to the previous profile, close the new profile, start Firefox and choose the '''*.default''' profile. While the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Profile Manager] is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers)).
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles Managing profiles]
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Profiles?s=profile&r=2&e=sph&as=s Profiles Howto]
It would also be a good idea to periodically clear the cache via '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Clear Recent History'''. Usually the websites cache could be the main reason for the filling up of the hard disk.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

Niel, I clicked on the message and tried to download an updated flash player but it would not let me do it! The same error message - blocked plu-in - came up again when I went to step 3 in the download process. My iMac ia an older model 4,1 with power PC could this be causing the problem?
