How do I block "PRIVATE CALLER" or "ANONYMOUS" calls?

I am receiving SCAM calls that show PRIVATE CALLER or ANONYMOUS on the CALLER ID
How do I BLOCK these calls?

Check out this link:

If you have FiOS Digital Voice, you can control the feature from the FDV web page.
Enjoy.

How do you block private calls?

I've been using an app called Mr. Number for about 7 years.  It gives you the option to send private numbers, blocked numbers, spam, specific area codes, everyone but certain numbers,  and specific folks to 1)voice mail or to 2) it auto hangs up on them so they can't leave a vm. It also blocks their texts.
Many new Android phones come with the blocking feature in the phone settings.  But it will only send calls to voice mail.  If you don't even want to know they called use Mr. Number. I give that app 4 stars (it used be 5 stars when it also had to great caller id)   Not sure what phone you have but Mr Number is available on multiple platforms.

  • How can I block 'no caller id' calls from contacting me?

Over the last couple of days someone has got a hold of my number, and has been calling me with a private number. I want to know if there is a way I can block all calls on my phone that come from a private 'no caller ID' number, and only allow ones that have a caller ID through. I have tried contacting my service provider Telstra which they said the most they can do is put me on the do not call register (which doesn't help my situation at all, as the person isn't a telemarketer). Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix my problem?
    Thanks.
(I have an iPhone 5 iOS 7.1.1 and my service provider is Telstra Australia)

There is no Third Party App you can load onto an iPhone that will be allowed to take over your iPhone's Phone without jailbreaking your device (which cannot be discussed here nor would I ever recommend doing it).
One feature you can use is the Do Not Disturb feature.  You can set it to allow calls from your Favorites then add all of your people to your favorites, but that is not quite what you are asking for.

  • How do you block no caller ID calls

I have blocked someone on my iPhone. They realized they can call me under private. How can I block a private call?

Not true!  Do Not Disturb blocks all calls except those from the folks you specify.
Here's the Do Not Disturb writeup from the iPhone User Guide:

  • How do I block anonynous calls

I received a call this morning at 4:38 am that had the caller id info blocked.  How do I block these anonymous calls?  If I only get the reply "sign up for family base" (additional overpriced monthly fee), I will just start shopping around for another carrier when my contract expires September 28th.

Look into You Mail or Google Voicemail services - they are free third party options and do offer options for dealing with anonymous or ":unavailable" incoming numbers.

  • How can I block unwanted calls? (Besides Do Not Call List)

We just moved into our new home and have Verizon's home phone service (and everything else). In less than the month we've been here we've been BOMBARDED by HUNDREDS of solicitors! Half are non-profits, half biz/telemarketers.They're all unwanted (I don't even do charities over the phone). I've never been so overwhelmed with unwanted calls before! (Must be a California thing? We just moved here from Seattle). Our number is on the National Do Not Call registry, but of course that doesn't stop the non-profits, charities and politicians from calling (they're excluded). Nor does it stop the ones who just don't care. I see that Verizon no longer provides the option of blocking unwanted numbers, and it also discontinued the Do Not Disturb feature. There used to be other options from many of the various phone providers to block all calls except those on a pre-approved list of your choosing. Why aren't these options available to us anymore???
I'm thinking... with all this advanced technology...  there MUST be some way to block all those unwanted calls!!??!!
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hello rednorsk
There are a couple of options, including one that is on done through your account online, or by calling customer service and requesting the block.  Customer Service can tell you how many of these blocks can be done for free, and whether you will need a specific plan to cover more.
Here is a thread on just your issue.

  • How do you block a caller

How do you block a number?

    Hi Steve359,
Why should I be required to take time away to go to Verizon's website when all this could be handled locally on the phone taking only a few seconds of time.
    1. When people say block a call, many times they are just trying to block spam or wrong numbers. If it's persoanl issue or threats then yes have Verizon step in if legal action is need it's the user that initiates this. My suggestion is not meant for those in that situation.
    2. Verion, per your notes above, is limited to 5 numbers blocked and you need to renew. Again have the Iphone software handle the users preference which typcially is just ignore the number. I've gotten over 4 spams in Nov. alone as I use my phone for biz and life in general. I expect even more in December with all the holiday spammers gearing up. I can hear them buying server hardware on Cyber Monday deals just to increase spam capacity for Xmass hahaha hohoho.
    3. If you get a text message from spammer, allow the user would have to do is identify it as spam and send to a junk or spam folder. Keep tabs of the number and any text or Vmail for later. Let user decide what length to hold it or delete it instantly.
    4. Many spammers roll through phone numbers quickly so the numbers are constantly changing. Handle this in software so you do not limit users to what the carrier limits. Many of the Do Not Call laws were created from results of court cases and protection of individuals so why depend on that system for simple spam? Spam is a growing problem and you need to update how you handle it.
If you do it on the iphone, I get the feeling that Apple is not interested in adding this type of feature, you are not limited to 5 every three months, you don't have to renew, and the user gets more control and options. Something like this would help.
    1. Once a text comes in that is spam, send it to spam folder. That number and message is stored on iphone.
User can indicate ignore all messages, Note I'm not saying block!!!!!, the message is saved until deleted just in case "Do not call List or legal or carrier action is needed and you need to show proof" Next tiem spam is sent from that number it'll automatically go to that folder.
    2. Incoming calls handled same way, allow user to indicate if they get rings from spam folder or if no action is needed. Keep it stupid simple! Note a time in the recent call list and indicate it was spam.
So the question I have, why go through the hassle of calling carrier when Apple should have a spam option in the software? Let the carrier and legal system handle the bad stuff and let Apple handle the easy spam filtering.
True blocking calls should go to carier while spam should be handled by the user preference via software.

  • How do I block a caller on my iPhone 5?

There isn't an obvious and straight forward method to block a caller on this iPhone as opposed to my HTC. What's the trick?

    Good morning 3120,
Unwanted phone calls can be a HUGE inconvenience! The last thing we need in such a busy society is to inconvenience! The information that shell62 provided is absolutely correct! Thanks shell62 for the assist! This free service that we provide last for up to 90 days and be re-used over and over again. The link to website to this handy option is www.vzw.com/spamcontrols.
If you are looking for a more permanent option then we have a service calls Usage Controls. It offers call blocking for longer than 90 days and you block up to 20 numbers. You can even block private and restricted calls! It's super easy to setup and use. For more information on this solution then feel free to visit this link, www.vzw.com/usagecontrols. Let me know if you have any additional questions or concern that needs to be addressed!

  • How do I block unavailable calls

I receive a lot of sales and nuisance calls from "unavailable" numbers which I want to block, however the BT "Anonymous Call Reject" feature does not block unavailable numbers - which seems a bit pointless!!! is there another way to block these calls please?

I have some of the truecall facilities on the Fritz but cannot use the Fritz and the Truecall in tandem, so my brother has the loan use of the Truecall and even he swears by it now.

I keep receiving calls from Louisiana. Nobody answers when I say hello. Call and Message Blocking - My Verizon does not work. I have a prepaid Moto G.

A couple of other options, you can install Mr. Number (Mr. Number-Block calls & spam - Android Apps on Google Play) and block specific numbers or even block all suspected spam calls with it.  Alternatively you can add a contact to your phone and set it to auto reject calls from that contact.
