How do I brighten a video in iMovie for Mavericks?

Since Apple likes to update their software without telling people the changes they made or how to access their old menus in the new interface, I am confused. I want to brighten a video. I don't want to use the new chance feature. I want to brighten a video like in the old iMovie but the settings and control panels are missing and I can;t find them. Where are they and how do I access them again? Thanks,

But well known that, movie maker can't run on mac but imovie has compatible versions for both kinds of computers, windows and mac.
Well, I know a free online program can also brighten video easily, supported by both computers also. You just need to load the video, and then it will unfold advanced settings, and at the bottom of which, you can see option of "change brightness"~
I think this method is suitable to the people who need convenient solution instantly. As although movie maker and imovie are powerful, yet the process is a little complicated to the first time users

Yes.
If you want to see the zoom, use the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool and select the Ken Burns effect. You can set the starting and ending rectangle for your zoom.
If you want to go directly to the zoom, use the Rotate, Crop, KenBurns Tool and select Crop. Set the rectangle to be where you want the zoom.

It's a clip from CNN (with all credits etc. added). When one refers to it as a clip posted on "YouTube", then people understand the quality will be poor.

to offer at last a few remarks:
• video files are huge.. check your contract, how much webspace your provider offers you.. (1 GB as a start)
• due to size, your guests will generate lots of traffic/bandwidth.. check your contract, how much traffic your provider allows you.. (a few GBs per months)
• the usual dilemma - what codec? YouTube made flv popular (=compatible with 99% of computers, 0% compatible with smart-phones and iPads..); actually, we're (and YT..) in transition to html5, which allows the more lean and 'better' h264 codec.. but do your guests use 'modern' browsers as Safari/FF/GC...? Do you have to offer a 'switch', flv/new? ...
• you have to upload your encoded files to your web-host, add some lines of code which generates a 'player'-experience (= tons of advice and free downloads around the net...); 'link' the code to your site-folders containing the videos - done.
• webspace and traffic
• decision to encode in what ..
• encoding video, probably wth some 3rd party encoder
• some 'website generator software' which allows manual coding for embedding your 'player'-code
=> now you see, HOW convenient iWeb is...
.. which, by the way, supports upload/FTP to 'foreign'/non-MobileMe websites..

In iMovie look in the Event Library. You should see an Event named "iPhoto Videos" (assuming the videos are compatible with iMovie).
Each time you open iMovie it will look for any new videos in iPhoto and place thumbnails in the iPhoto Videos Event. You will be given a choice as to whether you want the thumbnails generated now or later. The thumbnails will appear in chronological (date) order in the Event window. Note that the clips themselves are not actually imported to iMovie - they are simply referenced by iMovie (that is, iMovie points to the clips in iPhoto).
Drag clips (or parts of clips) to a project. To start a new project, select File > New Project from iMovie's menu.
Please ask if you need more advice. Otherwise, click on Help > iMovie Help in the menu. There you will find plenty of good information about how to use iMovie, including short video tutorials.

Dear Apple iMovie Form Participants,
I'd like to use iMovie to create a music video. My son and I already recorded him playing drums and singing, and me playing bass and singing into an Event in iMovies. I have saved all the video clips from this session in iMovie. I also exported the audio, so that I can import it into GarageBand, and then start Play on GarageBand, which will play through the monitor speakers in the studio, so that if I have iMovie set up beforehand, my son and I can film ourselves playing guitar and electric violin in synchronization with the drum and bass tracks that we recorded before. We would then end up with video clips that show us playing guitar and violin accompanied by the sounds of drums and bass. How do we then use the Project editor to show clips of the drum and bass + vocals playing in synchronization with the music, alternating with the clips of guitar and violin?

Your best bet:
Finish the entire audio recording in garage band first. Give yourself a click to start off. You can record the video lip-sync with your instruments later. Burn it to a cd and play it from a cd player so your computer can be dedicated to recording the video.
Imovie 09 does not have true multi-camera editing capabilities like Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro, but you can get it done with a little extra patience.
Decide which video will be the main one. Shoot that one first. Put it into your project. Bring your audio from garage band back in and sync it.
Record your second, third, and fourth video shots...
Go to the iMovie>menu>preferences>general and make sure "show advanced tools is checked.
You will be using the cuttaway to put sections of your second video ontop of the main one. With your first video already in your project window, drag a few seconds of the second on top of it. A black menu will appear and select "cuttaway". It will essentially paste your second video on top of the first. Sync it by dragging back and forth. Unfortunately, with iMovie, you have to sync it by hand each time you paste a cuttaway video on top of the main one. The main one sync stays fine.
You can also choose "picture in picture" and see both videos at once.
Repeat with the third, fourth, or whatever video.
Practice so you understand the editing workflow before you spend all day trying to record your actual video. It takes someone who is patient and clever, but it will work!
Here is an example, I couldn't sync the close up shots at all (they were from a different piece), but most people can't tell. The camera panning is all done by using the "ken burns effect":

Is it possible to directly Import video into Imovie 09 from the 5d2 Camera?
Im always downloading first the files into the computer (50 min process) and then into iMovie (60 min)?
I want to be able to bypass this step and shave down time on my workflow.

As far as I know, MPG is not on the iMovie support video format list. In addition, according to official website, the most compatible video format for iMovie to afford is AIC MOV. Have a try to encode MPG to AIC with a powerful program. Good luck!
