How do I brighten my monitor?
I have been trying to brighten my old PB's dim monitor, but most Knowledge doc's indicate a Model Number is needed to proceed correctly with a PMU reset. I just completed a PRAM reset but that did not help.
Can someone please tell me how to find the Model number of my computer?
I have taken the battery out and there is no Model Number in it's cavity underneath the computer. I have also looked in the Pref's again without finding a Model Number.
I purchased my G4 17" 1.33 Gh PB in December of 2003, if that helps. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello Alan,
Thanks for the help.
The Knowledge Doc that you linked me to was the same KD (Title anyway) that I was perusing. And somewhere in there it wanted a Model Number. Anyway, all of that is history.
I just finished the PMU reset and the monitor brightness may have perked up just a trifle, but that may just me dreaming that it did. In truth, I have absolutely nothing to compare it to, so it is what it is. And, add to that the fact that I have recently purchased a refurbed 24' iMac whose monitor brightness nearly gives me a headache. Am now using Shades which helps a lot.
Back on topic: My old PB is still useable for my photography and travel, so this is not the end of the world for me - or it. Just old age setting in. Happens all the time.
I appreciate the help.
Phillip
PS. How's the snow at your end??

How to connect an external monitor to macbook pro. The monitor has no usb connecter, only a port.
Most MacBook Pro models have a Mini DVI port, a Mini DisplayPort or a ThunderBolt port for connecting an external display. USB does not have enough bandwidth to support a responsive display connection.
What model MacBook Pro do you have, by year, CPU speed or MacBook Pro 3.1 designation? -

You will need to purchase and use a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 (or any of the many other adapters on the market) to connect an external display to your computer. I personally use and recommend the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39.

How do I connect two monitors to my macbook pro?
How do I connect two monitors to my macbook pro? This question applies to both DVI and VGA, as I might have to work with multiple sets of monitors.
The MacBookPro only has enough horsepower in the video card for one external monitor.
If you want two or more, you need a MacPro.
Or a MacBook Pro and a Remote Desktop controlled MacMini.

How to use a secondary monitor in Portrait mode
Finally discovered how to do this. Here is how to use a second monitor in portrait mode:
Open System Preferences from your iMac dock.
Click Displays - Click Arrangement - Click Gather Windows - the secondary monitor dialog box opens.
Click Rotation - Click 90 degrees rotation for PORTRAIT MODE.
Click CONFIRM on the secondary monitor to keep Portrait mode.
Select the desired resolution. I chose 1200 x 1920.
You'll see a dialog box that says, "About to change the display mode."
Click OKAY.
Click Confirm. (If it appears. For some resolutions, I did not have to click confirm, most likely because the monitor supports those resolutions.)
Then resize the windows of the software you're using.
Done!I too got the same. Both monitors went portrait. Then I unchecked the 'Mirror Display' option in the Arrangment tab of iMac display and voila. Got what I wanted.

How to give browse and monitor only options of an ICM script to a certain group?
I am looking for an option in the Feature Control Set, how to give "Browse and Monitor" only options for a certain group in our contact centre. If someone give me some clue, it would be appreciatable.
Hello Praveen,
This work at some point. But it's not resolving what I intend to do. When I give "Read Only" previledge, to the certain group, it won't be able to do other tasks what they do day to day. I am looking specifically to give read only previledge in the scripting level. Not at the configuration level.
Thanks. -
How to mirror to tv monitor using macbook pro 2012
how to mirror to tv monitor using macbook pro 2012. The airplay is not displayed anywhere except I Tunes which only plays what is on I Tunes.
Howdy there nell a-7,
It sounds like you are not seeing the Airplay icon in the menu bar on your Mac but you do see it in iTunes. I would use these steps from the following article to help troubleshoot the issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215
Try these steps first
Verify that your iOS device's software is up to date.
Verify your Apple TV's software is up to date.
Verify that your iOS device has Wi-Fi turned on. Enable Wi-Fi on your iOS device by going to Settings > Wi-Fi.
All AirPlay-enabled devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Some Wi-Fi network configurations offer a Guest Network. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General >Network and ensure that you're connecting to the same Wi-Fi network on your iOS device. On your iOS device, tap Setting > Wi-Fi and confirm that this matches your Apple TV.
If the AirPlay icon doesn't appear
Ensure that you have followed the steps in using AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring. If you are still unable to see the AirPlay icon , try one of the following steps:
If trying to AirPlay, or AirPlay mirror, to your Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV as well. You can enable or disable AirPlay on Apple TV in the AirPlay menu: Settings > AirPlay.
Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices.
Some content requires an Internet connection to authorize content playback. AirPlay capabilities may be limited if your network is not connected to the Internet.
If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).
Here is some additional information about Airplay for Mac:

All the best,

How can I get Activity Monitor to work?
I've searched the discussions to no avail, so I have this question: how can I get Activity Monitor to work? It launches and its window opens but then the spinning beachball appears. I've checked the Console and it shows that the Activity Monitor is attempting to fully launch but then it "exits" and then it tries to fully start up again, goes into an infinite loop or something. Issued a "force quit" succesfully. I've deleted the Activity Monitor's .plist, no joy. What to do? Thanks!
I'm running 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro (late 2011)I wish I could be more positive but I have no experience of MacBook Pros and whether their demands on the system differ from my simple iMac. If you have the time to scour through 'More like this' ( to the right of your initial post) and the links within it, you may find leads.
I also found this thread via Google which in parts seems to echo your troubles. I hope it helps; thank you for the star.
