How do I build a site (domain, hosting, etc)?

I've built a site in Dreamweaver. I have purchased a domain on moniker.com. I started a Tripod account to host it on. However, I don't know how to put these three things together to place all the information I've uploaded to Tripod onto the domain I've purchased. Anyone familiar?

So how this all works:
1) You buy (well, really you only rent it for an amount of time) a domain name - (example of a domain name: myawesomesite.com)
2). You find a hosting service (something like DreamHost or what not) and pay them to host your site. They'll set up your hosting service and correctly use your Domain Name (previously purchased) so that when someone types "www.myawesomesite.com" in their browser it points to this server.
3). Your hosting service will provide you with a username and password to log into the server (usually via FTP) so that you can upload/download items to the server.
4). You create your site and upload the files to the correct directory on the server.
5). Somebody typing in the correct URL will visit your site, the server will serve up your website files, and the browser will render it and the user will view it.
And that's how it works.

I'm pretty new to Flash. I've just been watching some
Lynda.com tutorials to get started. I recently saw this site

Show us the part of your code that actually does the output. If it's a Transformer, you'll need to put in the code that I posted in this forum twice just last week. If it's something else, then, I don't know, you'll need to do something else. But I don't see anything in that link that actually outputs XML.

How to create a muse site in various languages with multiple domains

I have been asked to create a website for a product. A very simple website with maybe one or two pages and one product for sale for which the client would like Paypal as the payment gateway. Simple right?
No! This client would like to market their product into Europe, they would like to purchase multiple European domains ( .fr, .de for example).
So how on earth can I do this? I will be using Muse for build and Business Catalyst for hosting.
Bearing in mind the client will not want to pay for separately hosted sites. Is there a way of translating the text for each domain. Or could I assign multiple domains but direct them to different home pages within the same site?
I haven’t a clue how to problem solve this.

How to publish custom web site with own domain name?

Hey out there. I wonder if anyone can give me any tips on how to publish a web site with my own domain name.
I have a web site I'm building and I want to purchase a domain name and then publish the site using that domain name.
I know how to buy a domain name. I have a .mac account so I'm hoping that .mac can host the site. What I don't quite understand how to do is get .mac to host the site using that domain name. I looked through Apple Support but couldn't find what I was looking for. Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation. Thanks in advance.

Dave ~ Welcome to the discussions. .Mac was re-branded as MobileMe last July. If you're not building your site with iWeb, it's considered to be a "custom" website. These Apple docs may help:

Note that you don't need to have iLife '08 to be able to direct your domain name to your custom website published to MobileMe. As someone wrote on another thread:

Once you are done with your sitet, Click on Publish in Muse, select New Site from the drop down, It will ask you a name for your site, which will be used for site url, you will get a url like mysite.businesscatalyst.com, then go to the browser and login to the admin panel, mysite.businesscatalyst.com/admin and on Dashboard, click Launch site. This will push your site live, and you can then add your custom domain.
Also make sure that you have completed all these actions mentioned here

You can use their BC login details and use them , which on publish the site will be under their account.
Please change the BC login from Edit > Preferences > Publish > Switch Accounts , for Mac it would Adobe Muse > Preferences

How to publcish new Muse Site with existing domain name

We've created a new site in MUSE and we are ready for it to go live via BC. can we just use the same domain name of our existing site that is hosted by others? Will it replace it? Or do I have to cancel my existing hosting service first?

You may create site using Muse, have the Muse project published to Business catalyst.Once done, have the site launched as either free site you get or as paid one based on you requirements.
Once the site is launched, you may have the domain added to the site via site settings > site domains > new domain.
When you add the domain you have two options :
1. Use our DNS service
2. Use External DNS service
Based of your requirement , you will need to add the domain and have the domain redirected to Business catalyst where the site is now hosted.
As far your existing site is concerned, you may want to keep it until the muse site is ready and published to business catalyst. However, once you are ready and domain is redirected , you may cancel your subscription with third party hosting service .

There is no specific function that turns FGL on or off.
When you say that it has stopped, do you mean that the handles no longer show?
If that is the case, then I think you may have modified the CSS to such an extent that Dreamweaver no longer recognises it as belonging to FGL.
There are a couple of avenues for you
Redo the site and make sure not to touch the FGL CSS
paste the code here so that we can see what has gone wrong.

Yes you can! It is a Basic level site but you can build it without Muse. I think you may need to create the site originally with Dreamweaver or Muse (meaning creating the site with Business Catalyst not building the site) but once that is done you can use any software to create the code for the site and upload it via SFTP. Hope that makes sense.

Just log into the GoDaddy web forwarding section and cancel the forwarding for the site that you don't want linked.
If you want to link it to a new site, publish that site when it is ready and set up web forwarding to that particular site at GoDaddy. So you would forward to web.me.com/username/sitename.
