How do I burn a DVD? i have I tunes, but do I need I movie?

Not sure how to find I movie on my mac or do I need it to do CD with pictures and music. I was a PC, trying to learn...

Since you are new to the Mac you might want to get this book which explains how to use your new Mac as a former Windows user. I recommend it to all switchers. iPhoto, which you can freely download through the App Store if you haven't already, is a very good photo organizer and you can use it to create slide slows. It isn't a massively featured slide show program but it probably serves the needs of the majority of users. Having created the slideshow you can export it as a QuickTime movie that anyone can view.
Having created the movie you can burn it to a data DVD without any additional software. Just pop a DVD into the drive, drag the movie onto the DVD and burn. Any Windows or Mac owner will be able to play the movie (Windows users might have to download the Win version of QuickTime but it is often pre-installed today.) What cannot be done without additional software is creating a DVD that the typical commercial DVD player can play. This is what most of us have been talking about. But if the people who'll be viewing your slideshow have a computer, this isn't going to be an issue.

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?  I have read other forums on burning HD DVD's but I do not see the option to turn the 8 pi into 40 pi the one forum recommended.  I want my DVD to be HD so I may sell these videos online for my business.  I can't sell them the low quality they are burning now.  Hopefully you can help me.  Thanks.

    Thank you for your reply.
You cannot burn your high resolution video that you can view on your computer to an AVCHD on DVD disc
that will replay through a regular DVD player. But players are marketed under a variety of names with
different support opportunities. One manufacturer may call its product MultiMedia Player, media player, Blu-ray player,
etc.The bottom line is the specifications for each of the players that are candidates for the playback of
the AVCHD format on DVD disc or the format of interest.
If you upload your HD (1920 x 1080) video to YouTube, YouTube converts the video to flash format, but it goes up as the HD video.
But, beware. Look at the YouTube viewing setting when your uploaded video is playing back. The YouTube default is not
HD. It might be 360p, 480p. If you have a 1080p video, then before the YouTube playback, you should be looking
at the video with the YouTube 1080p HD setting for best viewing. That is a YouTube matter.
    Best results depend on you
    a. setting up the Premiere Elements project preset to match the properties of the source media. That means, if
you have 1080p source, you (manually) or the project (automatically) set the project preset at
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
or the PAL counterpart, depending on your region need.
    b. if you upload your video to YouTube using the Premiere Elements feature, there is a HD preset, but you cannot
customize it.....if you need customization, then you can export your Timeline to a file...in this example
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or PAL counterpart
and then customize the preset under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset. In increase quality, you might look to increase
the Bitrate under Advanced Button/Video Tab settings - without compromising the file size.
Then you would upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
All of the above are factors that need looking into in order to determine the why for what you wrote
I have published a shortened advertisement video to YouTube- say 5 minutes-
    and it is low quality
Often SD video upscaled to HD can present poorly. But, you are dealing with a HD workflow so that should not be introduced into the matter. The setup of the project and
the properties of the source video are important, but let us start with the above and rule in or out those considerations first.
Thank you. As always, any clarification needed, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • How can I burn a dvd now that I can't download premiere pro cs6 with Encore?

How can I burn a dvd now that I can't download premiere pro cs6 with Encore?

Here's what you do to get Premiere CS6 + Encore:
Just click here (it's the same link as the more information link in CC.)
    or
Go to your Creative Cloud application (on the menu bar) and go to Adobe Premiere CC and click more information
There is a dropdown menu that says "Adobe Premiere Pro CC" near the top.
Click it and the other option is "Adobe Premiere Pro CS6."  Select that.
Now on the top right corner of the page it has a download button that says "Download Adobe Premiere Pro CS6."
It is included in your CC subscription.
However, a word of warning, you cannot use Adobe Dynamic Link to link to a Premiere CC sequence directly in Encore.  A CS6 sequence still works fine, but if you have a CC project, you will need to encode your sequence into a DVD friendly format (MPEG2 file).  I'm really hoping that Adobe changes this in their upcoming release, and just adds the ability to import CC sequences into Encore, then I would be fine with them not including it in the normal CC package, or updating it.  But I haven't seen anything about it in the release notes.
A lot of people still want their DVDs and it's a lot easier to just dynamically link the sequence.

  • In v.11, how do I burn a DVD to full-screen? I tell it to, but the program keeps burning to widescreen.

In V.11, how do I burn a DVD to full-screen?  I have told it to, but it keeps burning to widescreen.

    Rodney
Great news. Great job sorting through the details.
The core of your issue went to the differences between Premiere Elements 9 and 11 and its default project presets and how project preset is set.
Some of the factors are found
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-accuracy-of-automatic-project.html
Add to the mix, that the project preset directs the program to make certain settings (assumptions). So, if you have a HD project preset, you are going to see NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD set as the default in the burn dialog. I am guessing that you were letting the project control setting the Premiere Elements 11 project preset, and it was giving you its default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 instead of NTSC DV Standard.
    But the ground rules are
    a. know the properties of your source media
    b. set the project preset to match the properties of the source media (if the project does not do it right, then you set the project preset manually)
    c. keep the export settings consistent with the other project settings.
I will spare you the rest of the details for now. Just know, please do not hesitate to ask if you have questions or need clarification.
    Thanks.

  • HT5630 how do I burn a dvd using usb superdrive to mac or itunes?

How do I burn my dvds onto either my Macbook air or onto itunes using external USB superdrive please??

"Burn my DVD" refers to the process of taking data FROM the Macbook and copying them TO the DVD, not potentially the other way around, as you have asked the question.
Are you wanting to copy (rip) movies from a DVD and place them into iTunes?
                        -or-
Are you wanting to copy (burn) a movie from a digital copy on your computer to the DVD?
The way you have asked the question makes no sense.

  • How do I burn a DVD?

I want to make a video DVD from a movie file I have. How do I go about doing that? I looked for Toast software but could not find it. I have MacBook Air 10.56. I am used to burning dvds with Roxio Toast 6 Lite on my Powerbook G4. I have a superdrive with the MacBook Air. I have no idea how to do it with the MBA. Do I need to download any software? The movie file is .avi. On the Powerbook G4, I have to convert the avi file to mov file using ffmpegx. Do I have to do the same with MBA and Leopard?

Drop the movie file onto the iDVD icon (if it's not in the Dock, it should be in the Applications folder). Change any of the settings you want, then either click the "Burn" icon (looks like a little iris next to the play icon), or select File >> Burn to DVD...
Note: this will only work with movies in a format that QuickTime can play. If QuickTime can't play it, you need to convert it to a format that QuickTime can play first (how you'd do that depends on the format of the video in the first place).
Also Note: you can start from iMovie as well. This would permit you to modify the movie before burning to disk, add chapter markers, etc. Drag the movie onto the iMovie icon.

  • How do I burn a dvd using the PAL setting for Europe?

    This is an older answer:
Make a new project in PAL using custom settings. Copy and paste the contents from the NTSC project to the PAL project. Render everything.
Don't do this unless you really need to. If you're making a DVD for Europe you don't need to.
    And my question is:
Why is it not needed to change it to PAL if this DVD is for Europe?
Would it not be best to use a project with PAL SD 720x576 DV Anamorphic  25i  ?
What's the difference between .... x756 DV  and  ... DV Anamorphic
and also completely without this DV and DV Anamorphic?

You don't, unless you want to have PAL resolution. Would it not be best to use a project with PAL SD 720x576 DV Anamorphic  25i  ?
Yes, if you want a PAL resolution DVD. That's why the OP is asking how to make a PAL project. What's the difference between .... x756 DV  and  ... DV Anamorphic
DV is 4:3. DV Anamorphic is 16:9. and also completely without this DV and DV Anamorphic?
Not sure what this means. The DVD specification is the same as DV resolution. If the OP as an HD project that has a frame rate of 23.98, the output resolution will be NTSC DV anamorphic, because DVD only accepts 23.98, 24, or 29.97 frame rates in 720x480, not in the PAL resolution 720x576. That has to be in 25fps.

JUst to add the reason you don't need to make PAL for Europe is because all PAL DVDs can play back NTSC. Unfortunately almost no NTSC players can play back PAL.

  • How can I burn a dvd without themes?

how can I burn a dvd without themes?

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!
