How do I burn a DVD with iMovie 11?

I am new to Macs.  I understand that imovie can send a project to idvd, but I don't seem to have idvd on my computer.  This is such a simple question, How do I burn a dvd?

I 'reinstalled' iDVD09 from an original iLife09 disk

I haven't tested it wether the 'send to iDVD' works in iM11 ... I never used it ...
always exported 'manually' with my own 'master settings'.
dragging these huge HDef.movs into the projects and let iDVD decide what to do

How can I burn a dvd from imovie if this computer does not have idvd? is there anything in mountain lion that will allow this simple task to be completed.'
When i try to finish a project in iphoto it wont even do that...can anyone help?

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • How do I burn a DVD from IMovie?

I have created a project in IMovie 08 and would like to save it to a DVD that can, in turn, be played on a computer or TV.  However, there is no obvious way to burn a DVD from IMovie.  How do I do this?

    Hi
You start by saying - I have created a project in IMovie 08 -
But then say that You don't have iDVD ?
If You got iMovie 08 then this was delivered with iDVD - so by finding this on hard disk or DVDs and then install it on the New Mac - DIRECTLY THEN - Update (do not try it first - will mess things up) by using Program-Up-date under Apple menu. to iDVD v. 7.1.2 - and all will be well.
Only brand new Macs delivered with iMovie'11 v. 9.0.4/6 - will be delivered without iDVD.
    Yours Bengt W

  • How do I burn a dvd from iMovie if I no longer have iDVD?

iDVD didn't come on my new MacBook Pro so when I went to burn a dvd of a movie I made the pull down option was to send to iDVD.  If iDVD isn't there how I am supposed to burn a DVD?  I purchased Aimersoft DVD Creator but it won't allow me to drag my movie to it.

Your in the wrong forum, this is for iOS (iPads and iPhones).
I will try to get this moved.
But I do have an answer, export a quicktime movie from iMovie.
I believe it is under the share menu.
That will be able to be burnt using Aimersoft DVD.
You can't send a project file to Aimersoft.

  • How can I burn a dvd with a short movie file on my Imac so it will play on a dvd player? I keep getting an error message on my player "wrong disc type".

How can I burn a small movie file to a dvd that will play on a dvd player? I keep getting an error message "wrong type of disc" on my player. My burner is built in to my monitor. Will I have to buy software such as Toast to burn with?

I'm using the burner utility that came with the computer. The video is on I took with my small camera. I'm using a DVD-r disc and I drag the file to the disc icon then hit burn and everything seems ok. I can remove the disc and put it back in and see the file but if I put it in a DVD player it won't play, just get error message.

  • How can I burn a DVD from iMovie '11?

I just discovered that iDVD does not come with iLife '11 as part of the 10.7 OS. The option to "share" as a DVD is still part of iMovie 9.0.4, but the process never completes because iDVD is not there. Is there a work around? Apple suggested using third-party software, but I don't know which software would work with iMovie.  Since I work for a school district, this issue is likely to come up again at many school sites using 10.7, so I appreciate any advice you can give.

That is a solution for my particular Mac, but it doesn't solve the problem for our entire school district. It would be very costly to purchase a copy of iLife '11 for each Mac 10.7 in our school district. I am talking hundreds of computers.
Is there a program or app that could be purchased independently, and more cheeply than the iLife suite, that could mimic what iDVD did? Afterall, I already have iMovie and iPhoto. I just need iDVD or something similar.

  • IDVD is missing in my Mac pro. How do I burn a DVD from iMovie project?

I have a new Mac pro and prepared a project in imovie. When I activated the share button for iDVD in iMovie, the application was not found. Any idea on how to burn my movie project to a DVD?

If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  (Ask to speak to a senior advisor.)

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk (don't get the download) for about $39.

  • How do I burn a DVD from iMovie running Mavericks?

Okay, I must be slow or something because after making the movies and burning them, they will not play in a DVD player!  You tube video tells me to move the video to iDVD which I can't locate. Did this come with mountain lion or mavericks?  Not in the App Store either.  Though, there are tutor&course for iDVD!
Very frustrating trying to learn imovie.  You Tube video link would help or detailed explanation. Thanks

If you have iLife 11 DVD (available on amazon) and run the installer get to the point where there is a customize button on bottom lhs and press it you will see it is not installing anything (since they are all old now) except iweb and iDVD.
I just tried this on a 2013 mac mini that came with mavericks and they both work but you cannot update them since it brings up the app store instead of software update.
I am creating a DVD image right now based on the default revolution theme

  • How do i burn a DVD with Dolby Digital 5.1?

    Hi!
    I have a BIG question...
I have edited a movie in Premiere CS4 and i've added Dolby Digital 5.1 which works greate in Premiere.
But when i use a Dynamic Link to Encore CS4, the sound only be in 3.0 for some reason. And when i burn it to a DVD and try it, i only hear sounds from front left, centre and front right. Why? And how do i solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Hokerberg

You need the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in for Export from PrPro, to get DD 5.1 SS onto your DVD in Encore. Do you have that?
If you do not have it, purchase it (~US$250) from within PrPro, as you will get an Adobe-user discount over the price on the Web site.
As Jim points out, you need to Export, so that you can encode with the SurCode encoder, and then Import into Encore. I always use elemental streams, i.e. one video-only and then one audio-only DD 5.1 SS AC3. Many mux the files into one.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?

I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?  I have read other forums on burning HD DVD's but I do not see the option to turn the 8 pi into 40 pi the one forum recommended.  I want my DVD to be HD so I may sell these videos online for my business.  I can't sell them the low quality they are burning now.  Hopefully you can help me.  Thanks.

    Thank you for your reply.
You cannot burn your high resolution video that you can view on your computer to an AVCHD on DVD disc
that will replay through a regular DVD player. But players are marketed under a variety of names with
different support opportunities. One manufacturer may call its product MultiMedia Player, media player, Blu-ray player,
etc.The bottom line is the specifications for each of the players that are candidates for the playback of
the AVCHD format on DVD disc or the format of interest.
If you upload your HD (1920 x 1080) video to YouTube, YouTube converts the video to flash format, but it goes up as the HD video.
But, beware. Look at the YouTube viewing setting when your uploaded video is playing back. The YouTube default is not
HD. It might be 360p, 480p. If you have a 1080p video, then before the YouTube playback, you should be looking
at the video with the YouTube 1080p HD setting for best viewing. That is a YouTube matter.
    Best results depend on you
    a. setting up the Premiere Elements project preset to match the properties of the source media. That means, if
you have 1080p source, you (manually) or the project (automatically) set the project preset at
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
or the PAL counterpart, depending on your region need.
    b. if you upload your video to YouTube using the Premiere Elements feature, there is a HD preset, but you cannot
customize it.....if you need customization, then you can export your Timeline to a file...in this example
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or PAL counterpart
and then customize the preset under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset. In increase quality, you might look to increase
the Bitrate under Advanced Button/Video Tab settings - without compromising the file size.
Then you would upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
All of the above are factors that need looking into in order to determine the why for what you wrote
I have published a shortened advertisement video to YouTube- say 5 minutes-
    and it is low quality
Often SD video upscaled to HD can present poorly. But, you are dealing with a HD workflow so that should not be introduced into the matter. The setup of the project and
the properties of the source video are important, but let us start with the above and rule in or out those considerations first.
Thank you. As always, any clarification needed, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • HOW to Burning A dvd with 5.1 audio AND WATCH IT AT HOME ?

I have had I nightmare with the compressor application trying to burn 5.1 audio and the film together had no luck . I wonder what does a guy do to listen to 5.1 files in his home cinema set up ? I know that I can bounce the 5.1 audio into the film in logic but can I burn a dvd with the 5.1 audio and film and take it home and listen to what I have done in a non studio environment ?
Would much appreciate some help on this cause frustration is not the word to discribe me going nuts for like 5 hours trying to figure out how that non musical program works .
    Thanks for any feedback ...

    Ah, got it.
Since you have Compressor I would guess you also have DVD Studio Pro. Anyway a quick movie showing how to do it. Drag the m2v and audio into the asset bin (you will see it in the lower left of the movie) then it goes through the steps. Note the audio and video streams are not the same length, I just threw it together quickly to show you. Of course menus can be fanbcier and all the rest and there may be some gotchas in the details, but it will generally work. Also make sure to set a First Play for the disc. Usually it is good to have a small couple seconds of black frames or warning on a track before jumping off to the next thing, and you can set the Track to be first play in this case if you like. try to use good media (DVD-R/+R) brands like Taiyo Yuden, cheaper media can cause issues.

Well there are alot of things to take into consideration, but that should give you a good jump start
