How do I burn music onto USB on a MAC?

I have a Macbook Pro and I just bought an f150. I'd like to transfer music from iTunes to a USB. I tried opening itunes and the USB folder and dragging to copy but that didn't work. Other suggestions? Thank you

USB is a connection type and doesn't make sense on its own in the context you use it -- you can have a USB [mouse].  Do you mean a flash drive?  If you do, highlight the drive, get info, and check the formatting.  Most come formatted FAT32 which should be compatible with your Mac for what you want to do.  If it says NTFS then you will need to reformat to FAT32 using DIsk Utility.  Macs cannot write to NTFS which is a Windows format.

  • Why won't my computer burn music onto blank CDs

I am trying to burn music onto my blank CD but a notification will pop up saying "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the lazer power level fo this media." Sometimes it is able to burn music onto the CD though. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Try:
    - A lens cleaning disc to clean dust off the laser lenses,
    - A slower burn speed
    - Better quality CDs
    - It is also possible your drive is faiiling and will need replacing or you use an external Superdrive.

Hmmm...best to look at the operating instructions and documentation that came with your unit....basically, there is a number of options,...you can download from your "playlist" or music files on your computer, or you can "drag" and "drop" the tune you want from an existing file on the computer to your MuVo with your mouse. Of course you need to have your MuVo connected to the computer with the USB cable provided, and my suggestion for newbies is to load the software FIRST before connecting the MuVo to your machine...just as the instructions tell you. Take the time to read and understand the opoerating documentation that comes with the unit

  • How do I reload music onto shuffle

How do I reload music onto my IPOD shuffle

By "reload" do you mean removing songs that are currently on the shuffle and loading new songs?
If so, the details depend on the shuffle model because the 1st and 2nd gen shuffle is a different from 3rd and 4th gen, regarding how it works.  It also depends on how you have been loading the shuffle.
Assuming it's the current 4th gen shuffle (or 3rd gen) AND you have been loading the shuffle manually by dragging songs to the shuffle in iTunes...  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  If the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Click the small triangle to the left of the shuffle, to drop down the shuffle's content list (indented under the shuffle).  Click on Music there.  Over to the right, a list of songs currently on the shuffle is shown.  From that list, you can select the songs you want to remove, and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can select multiple songs at once, or do a Select All if you want to select all songs.
If you have a 1st or 2nd gen shuffle, you have been using automatic syncing (not the manual method) to load the shuffle, or you meant something else by "reload," please post back with more details.

  • Burning music onto a blank cd...

I have a macbook pro and I want to burn music onto a blank cd. Do I need to buy a certain kind of CD to do this?

Yes, you want the CD-R for audio cd's for most standard cheap audio players, not ideal for re-ripping. Holds anywhere from 10-20 songs or so.
CD-R or DVD-R or DVD DL-R for Mp3 cd's depending upon the machine it's being played upon what it can accept for MP3 Cd's.
Mp3 Cd's can hold upwards of a 100 songs per CD, more per DVD and even more for dual layer DVD's and awesome anount on Dual Sided Dual Layer DVD's, although one will have to flip it over to use the other side.
Burn DATA CD's and DVD's in iTunes if you want all the other accompanying information, album covers etc, to backup and/or use with another machine.
It's ideal to make Data DVD's every once in awhile of all your music, because rewritable media like hard drives and even SSD's can lose files once in awhile, so you can go back over the archived music for fresh copies.
CD+R and CD-R are two slightly different disk formats, but most all machines now can use either, perhaps only very old machines can only use CD-r or CD+R (ditto for DVD+R, DVD-R)
It's good to check anyway just to make sure.

  • How do I transfer music from itunes on my mac to a flash drive?

How do I transfer music from itunes on my mac to a flash drive?

    hi,
it depends from the OS which is installed on your computer. At first you must access your Music folder which contains the iTunes folder:
    Windows 7:
    \username\My Music\iTunes.
    Windows XP:
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
    Mac OS X:
    ~/Music/iTunes/
In this iTunes folders you can find a "iTunes Media" folder which contains your Music. This Music you can than copy on a flash drive

  • How do I get music onto my ipod with the new itunes?

I have a new ipod, and the new itunes. I cant find any itunes version information, but it downloaded on the 27/9/13
The old itunes showed your library and ipod icons on the left, and I could simply drag music onto the ipod icon.
With the new itunes, there is no ipod icon to drag music too.  I certainly dont want to put all my music onto ipod, or have it pick songs randomly.  I have way too much music for itunes, I basically drag some albums to itunes, copy them to the ipod, then delete them from itunes.  I have to do this for 2 reasons, one is that my music is spread over various places, and usually when you plug in an external drive it gives it a different letter, so you "lose" music, and secondly because much of my music doesnt have correct tags because I ripped it from my CDs before there was internet databases (yes I’m old).
Any ideas how I get an album from a HD onto my ipod?
Does anyone else find itunes inexplicably unintuitive?

    Hi hobbss,
It sounds like you may want to show the sidebar in iTunes.  You can access it again by following this:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Show Sidebar - Choose View > Show Sidebar (this feature will display iTunes features on the left side of the application including Library, Store, Shared, Genius, and Playlists).
Also, here is an article with information on how to sync media to your iPod:

How do I sync my music onto an old iPod when my music is located on iTunes match? I have connected the iPod to my mac but it indicates no music to sink (as my music is stored in the cloud). I assume there is a simple way to resolve without downloading all music onto my mac as this would be ridiculous?
Any halp with this would be excellant.

    Hi,
Your old pod can only sync with music that is physically in your itunes library and on your hard drive. Therefore there is simple way to resolve is to download your music to your hard drive.

  • HT201788 How do I burn photos onto a DVD from iPhoto?

I am trying to burn photos/folders from iPhoto onto a DVD/CD but when disc utility opens I am unable to burn any of the items or folders onto the disc.  I thought that my optical drive was perhaps malfunctioning so I purchased a SuperDrive.  However, I am running into the same problem. The folders or pictures within, that I want to burn remain inactive.  How can I burn these pictures onto DVD/CD?

What kind of DVD disk do you want to create?  A data disk that just contains the image files or a video DVD disc that can be played on a DVD player on a TV set.  They are two entirely different types of disks and require different workflows.
If you're running Yosemite then you have iPhoto 9.6 or 9.6.1.
    For a data disk:
1 - select the photos to be burned to disk and export to a folder on the Desktop File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu.  Set the Kind = what you want, the original file or the current, edited version.
2 - insert a blank DVD in the optical drive.
3 - drag the folder of photos onto the DVD disk's icon.
3 - drag the DVD disk icon to the Trash Bin in the Dock which turns into the Burn function:
    For a video DVD disk:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Changing destination drive for burning music to USB (drive F) instead of cd (drive E)

My computer shows that I have both a Drive E for CDs and a Drive F for the USB but I cannot figure out how to change the destination when I try to burn to the USB instead of the CD.  Does anyone have an answer?

    Hi,
Which software are you using to BURN ? Many software when we say burn they will find a valid optical drive to burn to an optical disc. If you wish to use USB, no need to burn, just copy like normal copy files from one drive to other drive.
    Regards.
