I want to buy 3 songs for a friend in the states, I don't want to buy a gift certificate - how do I do that?

Choose the song, press the little down arrow next to the buy button and choose: Gift this song.

    You can't. You can only purchase songs in your local iTunes Store. To buy content from another store you'd have to live in that country and create an account in that particular store.

    You can ONLY use the itunes store of your country of residence AND ONLY while physically located inside the borders of that country.
    In order to buy from the U.K.,  you would have to have a British credit card, billed to a British address AND you would have to physically be located inside the U.K.

    I understand what that's like, believe me. And adding problems with an Apple product really adds insult to injury. Trust me, calling them when the lines are open will be really good. They're very nice, and from my own experience they've always found a solution for me. When you're frenzied it's sometimes nice to talk to a person instead of fill out a form.
