How do I bypass the Photoshop Elements RAW editor?

I'm editing Canon raw files (CR2) with Photoshop Elements 10 by selecting the photos from the Elements Organizer. I want to go directly to the Elements editor, but instead I’m taken to the RAW editor and from there I have to select to open the photos in the Elements editor. I have no interest in using the RAW editor. How can I skip this step and have my RAW files open directly into the Elements editor just like any other image format?

Hi,
When the organizer has loaded, go to the Help menu and select Welcome Screen.
That will display the Welcome screen where you can then change the settings (gear wheel) to what you want.

Can you get to the Welcome Screen? It looks like this:
If you can get to this screen then try holding three keys simultaneously: CTRL+ALT+SHIFT and also clicking on the Editor icon in the above picture and see if you get another small window such as:
You just need to click on Yes button to reset everything to defaults but this is not a panacea to all problems of PSE. This is just a start.

I go the menu item File/Open ...
Right now PE11 opens the last picture folder I worked with before ...
How can I make PE11 show the root directory of the "My Pictures" Library.
I do not want people to see which pictures I have been working with lately.

Before quitting the app after you have worked clic Edit->Preferences and click Reset preferences on next launch.
This would reset the settings and next time it will open my pictures by default with file open,

Photoshop Elements 10: Attempted to download raw file update 6.6 while in a Elements page (zip file, etc.) During the download I received an error message that I did not have cc5 or cc6 ?

For photoshop elements 10 you should be able to to go to Help>Updates from within the photoshop elements 10 editor to get camera raw 6.7
The one exception would be if your on a mac with the pse 10 from the mac app store.

I can't remove a picture from the Photoshop Elements 9 editor. I am using an imac with the Lion operating system. I have tried to close the picture, but everytime I open the editor from iphoto to do more advanced editing than is possible in iphoto the picture is still there. This is a quirk with the Elements editor and lion's feature for reopening saved windows. If you go to system prefs>general and turn off Restore Windows when quitting and reopening apps it will stop happening. See this thread for more:

Are you opening the image directly from iPhoto? Right click & choose Edit in >> Photoshop Elements Editor
This link is old but gives information on set up. It relates to PSE11 but the principle is the same. In iPhoto prefs you navigate to the editor application in the support files folder. Start from Finder by holding down the Alt (Optn key) and choosing Library.

Hi,
If you mean "How do you upgrade to Photoshop Elements 13 from an earlier version" then you need to buy the new version. There is an upgrade option but if you shop around then you can sometimes buy the full product cheaper. They are both the same product once you have installed them.
If you install Photoshop Elements 13 on the same system as your old version the you can convert your existing catalog to the new format.
Note that Photoshop Elements 13 will not work on older operating systems. The 30 day trial version can be downloaded from here

If you are asking about updating the camera raw in your current version then we need to know which version you want to update. Normally, you can go to the Help menu and select Updates.
Note that each version has a limit on the version of camera raw that it can use - again we need to know which version you currently have.

To add to sig's reply, "calibrating" does not calibrate Lithiu-Ion batteries, it calibrates the charge reporting circuitry. How do I place only the Photoshop Elements dialog box on my dock?

I am using Photoshop Elemetns 9 on an imac running the Lion operating system. I want to have only the welcome diaolg box on my dock so I have the option of opening the editor, or the organizer, or having access to my photos stored with Adobe. At the present time my dock has a single PSE icon. When I click on this icon the Welcome dialog box is
bypassed and the editor is opened. I am using iphoto to organize my 5000+ pictures and Photoshop Elements 9 for more advanced editing. But I will probably be moving all my photos to the Photoshop Elements Organizer as soon as I organize the photos in iphoto Events. This is because there are too many steps required to move edited photos back from
Photoshop Elements 9 to iphoto. Now I have to move these photos onto my desktop before I can get them back into iphoto. Can anyone help me with these two BIG PROBLEMS? A direct response to my e-mail would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Click the little house at the end of the menu bar in either editor or organizer to bring up the welcome screen and then click hold the welcome screen's dock icon and choose Keep in Dock.
However, it sounds like you aren't using PSE and iphoto in the most efficient way. See this for more about your options:
