How do i calibrate monitor?

Hi all,
wondering if there's a way to calibrate my monitor from PS (CS4)?
Something like selecting some color profile or such...?
Because the colors now on my screen are significantly less green than they actually are (which i can see on another computer,as well as when i print it out.)

You buy a calibrator, which will make a monitor profile that Photoshop uses to display correctly. Nothing you can do from within Photoshop.
Entry level models are Spyder 4 express or ColorMunki Smile at around $100, but they have their limitations and in time you'll want to upgrade to something with more flexibility and accuracy. But they'll get you started.

I am using Photoshop CS3.
When I get a pic the way I want it on the screen and try to print it, it prints much darker. I could calibrate my iMac monitor for photoshop but can't find a way of doing it with my Satellite P200.
My printer is a Canon ip4300 and I'm using Canon ink and paper.

How do I calibrate monitor brightness?

I have been trying to re-calibrate my monitor. I set contrast control to its highest setting - no problem - but I can't calibrate brightness because the square is totally black - no lighter coloured oval visible at all, no matter where I move the slider to, and no difference in the shades round the oval - just totally black.

I, too, am having trouble with the monitor. It is very dim. I tried the above mentioned process but nothing changed. One day it was bright and the next time I opened the lid, dim. I have to strain to see the words I'm typing now. Any help is appreciated.

How best to calibrate monitor using Display Calibrator Assistant?

I have had my 20" iMac since January 2007, but have not yet calibrated the monitor which I understand is a good thing to do periodically. I would like to do this using the Display Calibrator Assistant available via Mac System Preferences.
My Internet research on this subject has uncovered some controversy on how to perform the calibration. For example, a preponderance of opinion seems to be that the Gamma setting should be 2.2 instead of the 1.8 recommended by Apple for Mac OS computers. There are also differing opinions on whether to use the Expert Mode when calibrating.
I would appreciate an authoritative response on how best to perform the monitor calibration. For your information my primary interest regarding calibration is making sure that colors are correct when I am viewing and editing photographic digital images that I store in iPhoto.

With my Nikon I can set the color space to either Adobe RGB or sRGB. Ken Rockwell (kenrockwell.com) is very knowledgeable in this area, and in his User's Guide for the D200, strongly advises the default sRGB setting unless the user really knows what he is doing with Adobe RGB and does his own printing. I don't agree with all of Mr. Rockwell's pronouncements, but on this issue I opted to follow his advice.
I don't find noise to be a significant issue with the D200 from ISO 100 through 1600. Noise gets pretty bad at ISO 3200, but the Noise Ninja program is very helpful in reducing noise to acceptable levels. Noise is worse in underexposed areas, but on balance I still prefer underexposure--within reason--to overexposure.
I started out my use of the D200 shooting everything in RAW + JPEG (Large Normal Optimal Quality), but in most instances I didn't feel that RAW gave me noticeably better results than JPEG. Also, RAW images chew up a lot of hard drive space. I now shoot most stuff JPEG, but employ RAW in situations that might present a problem, like when shooting sporting events in school gymnasiums which typically have abominable lighting conditions. With RAW images white balance is easier to adjust than with JPEGs. On the Internet I have read a number of impassioned arguments in favor of RAW over JPEG, but I still consider RAW to be a digital image format and not a religion! Therefore, I don't fear consignment to hades as a penalty for shooting JPEGs!

How do you calibrate an imac monitor?

Hi, I understand how to calibrate monitors; what I don't understand is why the imac has no controls; except brightness under the display. Don't even know how to set this. Is there a factory reset? Where are all the other controls; kelvin; contrast; ect?????

Brightness can be controlled using F14 and F15 keyboard shortcuts...
Under System Preferences > Displays > Color > you can calibrate any of the existing Display Profiles > Calibrate... here choose EXPERT mode, this will give you what you want, go through steps adjust as you like > but name as something else, this way you won't over write an existing profile...
Contrast can also be adjusted > Sys Prefs > Unviversal Access > Seeing > Display, here you will find a contrast control option...
I am not sure what you want to adjust back to factory? But there is a place you can do this, Open ColorSync utility > Devices > Displays > Imac > toggle the Current Profile, you will be able to set Factory or Other..

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful? If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right? How to connect multiple monitors to a R6970 2PM2D2GD5?

This issue is driving me round the bend because everytime I want to connect a new monitor to my card I run into problems and I can't seem to find a complete authorative answer as to how and what I can connect.
Currently I have 3 monitors connected:
2x DVI
1x MiniDP-DVI (active)
I now want to connect a 4th monitor and tried it via the HDMI-Port. But alas, it doesn't work. Someone in a different forum said I couldn't combine the 2xDVI with the HDMI.
So what can I connect simultaneously?
Which ports can I combine?
And how do I do that?
What cables/adapter etc do I need?
Is there any info/manual/etc available which tells me that?
(First time I failed because I tried a non-active MiniDP-DVI dongle, till somebody told me I needed an active, ...)

[High level of difficulty] how to change the monitor display in the space of a full screen application

I have an application which when opening creates a personal space (I can get back to the desktop with F3).
But this application changes the display of my monitor : it sets "Adobe RGB 1998" (very painful)
The problem is : totaly impossible to change display monitor when i'm in the personnal space of the application.
How to open the monitor control panel when I'm in that space?
If i do F3 to come back on my desktop, the color of my display monitor return to LCD color, it's nice. However it's impossible to keep the LCD display when i come back on the application : "Adobe RGB 1998" comes automatically

How do you calibrate the iPad battery and is it necessary to discharge battery 100%. I have the 3 rd generation iPad, it has been almost a year since I purchased it and the battery when fully charged reads 100%. Recently, I visited my local Jump Plus store and the staff said I should drain the batteries on my iPad & iPhone completely until they are dead and recharge once a month. Is this accurate? It is my understanding that you should not drain the batteries completely? Also, is that the same as calibrating the battery?

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

I have a task at hand :
Creating monitor to alert when a service is stopped.
We are using SCOM 2012

My requirement is : there are like 100 such services on 100 different windows computers that i need to monitor.
The services are not common , so 2 computers have the same service , Maybe some service that i need to be monitored be on 2 computers but overall every service is unique.
What is my best option:
1.Create a basic unit monitor and target to Windows computer class ? Create is as disabled ? Override for just the machine that has it.
Will it clutter my Windows Server class health explorer . (How bad is that as per performance)
2.Create a Service monitor using Windows Service templates
Do i have to create 100 target groups , as i have to Target the monitor to specific computer only
Since template service monitor create discoveries , targets etc on its own (Am i going to clutter SCOM with a lot of those) 100
3.Do i create a attribute for each service , so as to extend the windows base class to discover the computer that has specific service (Using registry)
too much work is it and how good of an option is this.
4.MP Authoring ,Create new class discovery based on WMI / Registry to find computer and then target the monitor
What would you do in such a case.

i forget say one thing. if remove while loop content this program will work good. i suppose that the while condition and read file records not similar. because while condition check bytes but in while body read records. is that true?
