How do I cancel outdated protection and install new version?

I have firefox setup 3.6.13 installed on my computer, I think.
A warning came up to update so I would have new and better protection. When I tried to install the new version it would not install because it said I have a version already running
and I am supposed to uninstall the old version first. I don't know how to do that. I am NOT computer savvy! :(

You usually have to use the program's uninstaller utility for such things as Symantec. Read this:

You may need to install it all over again, just to use its uninstaller.

Your problem is caused by the Ask Toolbar which you have installed. There are compatibility issues between Ask and Firefox at the moment.
Please do the following to ensure a clean installation.

How to erase and install new version os Mac Os X?

Can someone tell me how to erase and install new copy of Mac OS X 10.5.8 ?? IS there a way to do this without CD?? I no longer have the disks and I cant find a way to get this done.. The reason I want to do this is because a 12 year old was using this computer for a long time and there is a lot of junk stuff on the disk, so I want to start from fresh.

Your out of luck without an Install Disc, & on dangerous ground also.
2 ways to go...
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
   2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
      *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
   3. Click the Erase tab.
   4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
   5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
   6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion do a new install.
Or...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
In the same pref pane highlight your old account, click the little minus icon, then use Disk Utility to Secure Erase Free Space.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.

I have been able to remediate registry keys in sccm 2012 r2 Compliance. For example: to turn off updates for Adobe Acrobat reader. But I have not been able to figure how to check for a particular version of software and if less than a specified
version, remove it and install a newer version. If someone has a link to do this, would be outstanding. Maybe this is in sccm 2016 ha ha.

Create a query based collection base on HW inventory and the fact that the software is installed on the computer, and then deploy and application with the intent ot uninstall the application or a package/program with a command-line to uninstall the application.

How Do I Remove Flash 11 and install previous version?

Hi Everyone,
While Flash Player 11 seems to work for me with most things (e.g. YouTube, most news and video sites, etc), I find that it is crashing all the time when playing browser based games that use flash.
I was over on Yahoo's website http://games.yahoo.com/free-games/ and found that it kept crashing on this page or crashing when trying to load any of the games listed on that page.
Given these problems (and judging by the numerous posts on this forum... it looks like there are many issues with version 11), how can I uninstall Adobe Flash 11 and restore it back to version 10, x, x, x ??

Macbook won't boot after mavericks - how to backup to external drive and install new OS

I have a macbook pro - mid 2011 running 10.6.8. Tried to install mavericks and now computer can't boot, constantly restarts. I've tried reinstalling twice and repaired the disk, everything is OK and reinstallation didn't work. I bought 10.8 to install- apple sent me a link via email. How do I backup the drive through an external drive, erase the current drive, and then install 10.8?

You will have to boot from your Recovery HD:
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
     1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
         button.
     2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
     3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
     4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
         to the Destination entry field.
     5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
         the Source entry field.
     6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
            because it is three times faster than wireless.

How can I cancel iTunes 10 and open previous version of iTunes?

Still trying to find an answer with no results at all so far. SO, let's try again. I upgraded to iTunes 10 from my older version of iTunes 9, which I found out was so much better for me than the 10 version. I just want to cancel the 10 version and go back to the older version. The main reason is because I listen to the radio in iTunes while working on my computer, and while working the sound is so horrible, it sounds like a lot of rumble-jumble any time I move the mouse, or something changes on the screen, any kind of movement on the screen can be heard on the radio. I have asked several times if there is a solution to this problem, can it be repaired on iTunes 10 version,or can I just remove iTunes10 version and reclaim the older version of iTunes that I used in the past.

Turning off the auto-renew does not cancel the service. To actually cancel, or turn off the service, you need to contact iTunes Store support. What the instructions are are getting is telling you to do is to cancel the auto-renew. You can accomplish that by, in iTunes:
1. Pull down the Store menu and select "view account."
2. Enter your credentials when prompted.

Firefox.exe has "disappeared" so I can't open it. If I download and install new version will I lose all my bookmarks etc?

I've had a lot of crashes, some just firefox, some the whole computer. In process of migrating to new machine so wasn't overly concerned. But after a restart today, I found I could not get firefox to open at all. After finding the system searching for firefox.com, I checked program files\mozilla firefox and firefox.exe is not there. A search showed it not to be anywhere. Not ready to stop using this machine just yet. Any way to get firefox.exe reloaded without losing all my related stuff??

As long as you do not delete your Firefox personal settings or application data, they should remain after a reinstall.
Don't run the Firefox uninstaller, simply run the installer that you download. This will just install over your previous installation.
Note: To be 100% safe, I would recommend backing up your Firefox application data folder.

Installing old software from previous Windows 8 installation? And installing new software.

Hello.
Two questions.
Can I re-install software from my previous Windows 8 installation onto Windows 10 Preview? All the files needed are in Windows.old. I have some software that was registered to me, and getting another copy will be kinda hard.
Also, when the final edition (i.e: not a technical preview) comes out, will any new software that I have installed onto the Technical Preview still be there?

It depends on how you installing Windows 10, if you do custom install or clean install which means either format partition of your current Windows or install Windows and removing previous version of Windows which would create Windows.old, you have to reinstall
your applications and restore your data and you need product keys and installation files. However , if you do upgrade which is possible from Windows 8 to Windows 10, then you will have your programs and files in place and you don't need to reinstall them.
But note like previous upgrades (e.g. Windows 7 to Windows 8), you might have some compatibility problems and you might need to uninstall some programs and install newer version which you will know during upgrade process.
When final version of Windows been released, you might need to update or install latest version of some software or programs which are compatible with Windows 10 and latest software products should work on Windows 10.

Do you mean delete an app from the iPad ? If so, press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. Music/iPod, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
