How do I change a black tint to a spot using Actions?

I've got several AI documents with some blocks of 70% black and they all need to be selected and changed to a Pantone spot. Ideally I want to run this through a folder of several files using the batch command afterwards.
I think it may be possible but I'm not sure of the sequence to get it to work. Anyone a actions genius out there?

I think this can be done with an action. First you need to create a document with two objects, one with the 70% black color and one with the Pantone color you want. Each must also have a note assigned to it, which allows you to select the objects as part of the action. This is done with the Attributes panel. The two objects must be copied to the clipboard before the action is run.
The action sequence will go as follows:
Paste, Deselect all, Select the 70% black object (the command is in the Action panel menu), Select Same color (using Insert Menu item... from the same menu), assign Pantone color (which will be automatically added from the pasted object), then select and delete each oof the pasted objects, again using the same Select Object command.
It should work as long as the objects are on the clipboard.

In the bad old days when I used iMovie, I coud rotate a video 90 degrees and get black bars on either side of the video. Then I could add the negative effect and it would not only give me the negative of the video itself but it would also change the black bars to white bars, something I quite liked for the project I was working on. Make a white generator and put it underneath the video. The pillars are not black. They're empty.

I don't think Finder does this (I've tried).
iTunes does though. Where you can set artwork or the "poster frame"...
This may not be what you want but if it helps, I know 2 ways do this is
Open the video in QuicktimePlayer7 | View | Set Poster Frame (even then, you might need to save it as .mov (ie in a 'mov container').
Drag the file into iTunes and set the artwork (as in http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/adding-album-cover-art-or-images-in-itunes .html)
From there, iTunes will use that frame as the "poster frame" ie the photo/frame that shows when you browse your videos. Which is what you want, but limited to iTunes.
When I do either of these above, the frame I set does not show when exploring files in "Finder" (or in the other Explorer tool I use called "Pathfinder").
So it maybe, that exactly what you want, is not possible.

Using a long shutter speed and a light I took a picture of some floating words. I would like to change the black background to red without changing the white words. is Aperture capable of doing this? Any tips on how?

Aperture is not the tool for this. Aperture is designed to provide a photographer a non-destructive RAW workflow: you import files created by digital cameras, organize, store, and develop them into the best photographic images they can be, and then print them or create share-able files from them.
What you want to do goes beyond this general remit. It is more properly in the realm of graphics programs, which start with graphics files and change them and combine them to make new graphics files.
Any modern graphics program will allow you to easily do what you want. (You can probably do it in OS X's Preview app.)

If you want to make the itunes tab so you can see the dock
you press the
esc
button if your in full screen mode
if you want to get into full screen mode you press the arrows facing away from eachother in the top right corner
there is another way to get to the normal tab if your in full screen
make the curser go right up to the top of the screen and it will show the apple tab
it will have two arrows facing together highlited in blue

You can change the (non-Apple) email address which forms your Apple ID to another one at http://appleid.apple.com. If you are going to do this you should follow this procedure to avoid problems:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in (give it time).
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.
