How do I change an existing user account to another user name?

I am trying to change the username on an existing Thunderbird email account to another user name. I have the name changed and can send email out from it. However, you cannot treply back to the email, you get an error message saying that the address does not exist. Nor can you receive an email sent directly to the account with the changed name.

Is the new username an established email account with an email provider? If not, that is your problem. You cannot just make up a username and expect to receive email with it.
I would not suggest changing usernames due to a new email account. I would set up a new account in Thunderbird for the new email account.

By "game center account", do you mean Apple ID?
If so, you can change it.
1. Tap settings and navigate to iTunes and App Stores
2. Tap "Apple ID" and then tap "Sign Out"
3. Log in with a different ID.

Yes, but to be safe, backup and sync the device with user 2 before deleting user 1.
You should also maintain a separate backup.

The steps below detail how to place an input chooser that will allow for the adjustment of your keyboard layout while on the login screen.

Click Users & Groups to display the pane (or choose User & Groups from the View menu).
If the lock icon in the lower-left corner of the window is closed, click it, then enter the name and password of an administrator to unlock it.
Click Login Options.
Select the "Show Input menu in login window" checkbox.
From the Apple menu, choose Log Out.
At the login window, click the Input menu (shows the name of the currently selected input source next to a keyboard icon) in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select the desired input source or keyboard layout. If you don't see the input source you are looking for, move the pointer over Other Input Sources, then select the input source from the complete list that appears.

I had similiar problem. My problem was fixed after I found out it was the apple id. Make sure your apple id is valid, www.appleid.com
