How do I change Apple ID?

I have change internet providers so I changed my email address which is my Apple ID. I have been able to update this information on my Ipad but on my Iphone I continue to get a request for the password associated with the orginial Apple ID.
I also tried to register my Ipad when I enter ther serieal number I get the message that it's register with a different apple ID but when I enter the preivous information it still can't find it. Does anyone had this type of problem before?

Settings-icloud-scroll to the bottom, select delete, if you want to keep the content select keep, otherwise it'll remove it. Then once it is done add the account information for the account you want on that phone. Your apple ID in settings-store will remain the same and each device can still purchase/use content from that account.

You can change the non-Apple email address which forms your Apple ID and hence your login to the various facilities such as iTunes, iCloud and these forums - is that what you mean?
To do this go to http://appleid.apple.com and click on 'Manage your Apple ID'.
If you mean the user name which appears in these forums - melvinthms - you can't change that other than by obtaining a new Apple ID and signing into a new account in the forums.

As I recall, you need to change the back up email to a third email address. Then, when the original back up email is no longer connected to the Apple ID, you can switch the primary email to that address.

Thank you for the reply. I've done that twice and have no problem getting into the ITunes store. Problem is that I have 12 apps that want to be updated. I go to App Store and slect to "update all" and first thing it does is bring up my old AppleID (no place to change it) and asks for the password for that Apple ID.
I tried doing a sync to my computer in case that would work, but no help. I wonder if I will have to do a complete reset just to fix this???
