How do i change display sleep keyboard shortcut

I know that to sleep display i can use ctrl-shift-eject
this is fine but i would ideally like to change it to a simple bind. like like cmd-§ or some other two button bind. I've check the keyboard shortcut tab in system preferences and i either can't spot it or its not there. Im assuming its because its a default command. Anyone know if there's a way i can add a bind to sleep all displays or a way to edit this one?
Thanks in advance
Matt

  • How can I get the Voiceover Keyboard shortcuts to show up in a form in which I can copy

I have low vision & have been trying to learn to use Voiceover on both my iPhone & my Mac mini for months. Very frustrating.
    1. How can I get the Voiceover keyboard shortcut commans to show up in a form in which I can copy & paste them into a pages document so I can print it out & use for quick reference?? The one that shows up when I press VO +HH won't let me copy & paste it, & it won't show up in the Help section no matter what subject I enter. The help topics shown do not correlate with the topics I'm entering. why is that??
    2. Please make the cursor able to be wider, like in the software program Zoomtext, that I used when I had a PC. The razor-thin cursor (in this text box!) in Pages is impossible for me to see.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

You should be able to copy them from there.

  • I hate it when they change all the keyboard shortcuts. Is there a fix for these?

I don't understand why Adobe thinks that consistency is a bad thing, but it seems that everytime they update they go jerking with my keyboard shortcuts. Last time it was Indesign, this time it Photoshop that has me complaining. Usually I can change things back to the way I like under Edit/ Keyboard Shortcuts... but this time they've really done it.
Probably the 2 sets of shortcuts that I use the most over the last 15 years of using Photoshop, thus have become a natural reflex, when using the program are Toggling between CMYK channels via cmd-1,2,3&4, (sorry using cmd 3,4,5&6 is just completely unnatural) and Fit to Window (cmd-0). I cannot find a menu selection anywhere that would allow me to change these back, and Fit to Window has been completely removed from the view menu altogether! WTF?
I guess I could get used to the new channel key commands if need be, but no Fit to Window? what is this world coming to?
Anyone know of a workaround to this problem.

Heh...found the ad-copy I wrote for AccessPad Pro:
You're a power-user. The applications you work with do your bidding like YoYo Ma's Cello, like Perleman's violin, like Bill Evans' piano.
You've customized the way your applications openall the Tools and Palettes show up right where you like them. You may even have a few custom workspace arrangements for different purposes. You switch between them with a mouse click, and you're ready to go.
You've made brilliant use of Actions, Macros, Scripts and other built-in time- and effort-saving functions.
You know hundreds of keyboard shortcuts, and have spent time reassigning the defaults to more deftly meet your needs. You've assigned F-key shortcuts to some of those functions that don't even have shortcuts.
You're a power-user, but you've run up against a couple things that put a brick wall in front of your ever-increasing efficiency.
Firstyour keyboard is designed for typing actual text. It's been that way since the dawn of the first mechanical typewriters. The way the keys are arranged are meant to make it easy for your fingers to find the keys. Even if you use the arguably better Dvorak arrangement for key assignments. Even if you have one of those split-and-angled "ergonomic keyboards, they're still designed to do one thing well: Let the user type text as efficiently as possible.
Your keyboardwhatever the specieswas never meant to be an efficient, ergonomic way to access the shortcuts you depend on. For your current keyboardnay, ANY keyboardto perform optimally as a shortcut access device, you'd do well to have a third hand, or a freakishly long set of fingers that could bend 360 degrees in any direction.
SecondYour keyboard only allows a finite number of shortcuts. If you find yourself wishing and begging for just one more F-key, so you wouldn't have to get rid of some of your old shortcuts just to add a newly discovered "must-have", you're out of luck. It's about impossible to find one that has any more than 16 F-keys. Even if you could find a keyboard with more user-assignable keys, there's still the matter of the first problem, that is: How to reach them easily and quickly?
Forget all of those hassles, starting now.
The AccessPad Pro, by Phosergistics, is a computer peripheral designed from the ground up to allow youthe kings and queens of all power usersto have access to a virtually unlimited number of shortcuts. It sits on your desk, opposite the hand you use for operating your mouse. You rest your hand on it, in a comfortable relaxed manner. Notice where your thumb naturally falls. Right there, under your thumb, you find that there are buttons that replicated the Command & Option keys found on your keyboard. They can be pressed and activated independently or in tandem.
Under the heel of your hand is a somewhat larger button. Press down slightly, and you'll enable the same behavior as the Shift key on your keyboard.
Using your thumb and the heel of your hand you can enable 6 combinations of modifiers.
Now, look at your fingers. Beneath where they naturally rest on the AccessPad Pro you'll see six gracefully curved rows of buttons, 4 in each row. These buttons are arranged ergonomically, so the slightest curl of your finger can find and press any of the 24 buttons.
Let's do some simple math: 6 combinations of modifier keys, multiplied by 24 easily reachable, user-assignable function buttons...The AccessPad Pro gives you comfortable access to a whopping 144 shortcut assignments, all without moving your hand.
But that's not all. 144 shortcuts isn't enough for you? No problem. You can have a virtually unlimited number of these 144 shortcut sets, user assignable to work system-wide, or on a per-application basis, and you can load any set, any time you want. And because these custom shortcut assignments are written to a preset file using the industry standard XML scripting language, you can save these sets as tiny text files which you can share and trade with users on either the Mac or Windows platform.
You're a power-user. Forget about trying to grow a 3rd hand. Forget about wishing you hand foot-long fingers.
Use your mouse for moving your cursor.
Use your keyboard for typing text.
Use AccessPad Pro to speed up everything else you do on your computer. Try it for a week and you'll wonder how you ever worked without it.

  • Changing the safari keyboard shortcuts possible?

So I was wondering if anyone knew a way to change the shortcuts on the keyboard for Safari, specifically I would like to change the "Command-R" function which reloads the page to "F5". I have gone throught the whole keyboard shortcuts tab in system prefs (System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts) and added the safari menu command and my shortcut I wanted to add yada yada yada and nothing ever works no matter how many times I try or what I change. I am not sure whether or not the fact that I am the Apple Wireless keyboard has anything to do with this but I doubt it does. Any ideas?

    Hi
I had to quit safari & reopen before it worked, but yes, it does work with F5.
Did you choose Safari from the applications list in sys prefs-keyboard & mouse-keyboard shortcuts?
then type Reload Page ( including the capital letters ) ? in the Menu Title box?
    then leave keyboard prefs?
Let us know how you get on

  • How can I create my own keyboard shortcut

Hi, Can somebody please tell me how to create my own keyboard shortcut

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Click the item Application Shortcuts in the left pane.
Then click the + button underneath the right pane. Follow the prompts. You can choose to have the shortcut applicable to all applications, or just to a single one.
Note - you can create a shortcut only for an item which is already an existing menu item.
If you want to change an existing shortcut, by selecting the appropriate software in the left pane you can change the keyboard command in the right pane - just click the keyboard shortcut at the right end of the listed shortcut.

  • How to disable right-click and keyboard shortcuts in adobe reader?

    Hello All,
We are currently working on an issue. We want to display a pdf to users but not allow them to save it. Though we are able to hide the menubar and toolbars, the Shortcuts F8, F9 and Ctrl+Shift+S is the undoing of all. The user can still use these shortcuts to enable toolbar and menubar. Can anyone suggest how to disable the right-click and keyboard shortcuts in adobe reader?
    Thanks in Advance

Impossible, and illogical. PDF files are not streamed or RAM-cached so if someone is viewing a file they must have already saved it.

  • Cannot Change Contrast Through Keyboard Shortcut

    Hello Everyone!
Today while I am trying to change the contrast of my MacBook Pro it seems to say Not Permitted. It did not happen before, the key I pressed is F6 and F5. Here's the image:

F5 and F6 do not change display contrast, they change keyboard backlight brightness.
F1 and F2 change display brightness, not display contrast.
The only way to adjust display contrast and assign a shortcut is through the Accessibility settings.

  • Tip: Lost web forms. How do I turn off all keyboard shortcuts?

I've noticed over 80 people have had the same question I do: How to turn off keyboard short cuts so you don't loose data on whatever webpage/webform you're filling out.
I've found an answer, and I'd pass it on by reply, but those questions are now locked. So I'm posting this as a tip in the question area. (Anyone more familiar with Firefox support should feel free to move it, or copy it, into tips and tricks or whatever.)
The common tip is to '''turn off the backspace key''', which by default sends you back a page.
The solution for the backspace key is nothing new, change it from 0 (go back one page in history) to 1 (scroll up one page).
You do that in the about:config webpage in Firefox.
But that doesn't solve it for everyone. Some people find they are accidentally rotating the '''mousewheel with the shift key''' pressed. Another easy to make mistake if you like me are often zooming in and out.
In about:config change mousewheel.withshiftkey.action from 2 (go back in history a page) to 1 (scroll up a page).
And hopefully you won't loose any more webform data.
    Additional info and possible settings:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.backspace_action
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries#Mousewheel
I hope some of you find this helpful.

Those keyboard shortcuts are a god awful pos. I've lost so much data it's ridiculous because of them. I have no idea what happens. My fingers slip off a key and, boom, I get switched to another page and I never see the stuff I've been typing again. You just made my decision to go with Opera much easier to make. There's absolutely no reason for those shortcuts. All they do is ruin the work I'm doing. I have no idea what key combination it is. I just know that suddenly. for no reason I can find, I lose everything I've typed for the last 20 minutes, all the work I've put into the things I've typed, and all the time I've put in. What a total joke. You make me screaming mad because you and your "gotta put new stuff in there" attitude has just made my life miserable. Thanks for nothing.

  • Sleep keyboard shortcut does not work in 10.4.6

I just updated to 10.4.6 over the weekend. Unfortunately I realised that the sleep functionality seems to be broken. I have setup my machine to not go to sleep at all, but it tends to doze away after a few hours of being alive.
Further, I used to use the keyboard shortcut Option-Command-Eject to put my machine to sleep, but this doesn't seem to work now.
Anybody has any experience with this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Gov
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This is related to the preference :
Search for text when I start typing
With the above preference enabled :
and e10s turned off keyboard shortcut [ correctly is sent to Gmail
however with e10s turned ON keyboard shortcut [ triggers page search instead of getting sent to Gmail
Workaround - with e10s enabled then disable preference
Search for text when I start typing
only then keyboard shortcut [ correctly is sent to Gmail

  • How do you change the track shipment shortcut in canada?

Anyone know how to change the track shipment shortcut from USPS to Canada Post? Love the feature, but useless to me if it cannot be changed. Any help would be great! Thanks!!

I hear ya! I was going to suggest that you send your feedback to the Apple Feedback link, but it was centered around Product feedback, and I couldn't find any other feedback link that was really realted to your issue....
So, I've put the Contact link here in case you want to contact them anyway. That way you can decide which would be the most effective route:
    http://www.apple.com/contact/
Take it easy, and hope you can get through to someone to see if this couldn't be fixed....
    Cheers,

  • How can I get my InDesign keyboard shortcuts to work?

Can anyone please tell me how to reset my InDesign defaults. They were working fine a while ago, but now my keyboard shortcuts don't respond. Eg Ctrl X, Ctrl V, Enter and my arrow keys.
I have reset the preferences with Alt+Ctrl+Shift, and also renamed both defaults files, but still keyboard shortcuts don't work for me.

Your user account is not named Administrator, though, is it? You probably don't have the built-in Administrator account turned on (it's off by default). See Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums and Elevated Command Prompt - Windows 7 Help Forums for directions on how to turn this account on and off.
Before you do that, though, you can try some other things. Go to your current user account, as directed in the previous post, and rename the two Adobe folders, reboot and restart ID. New folders should be created, and hopefully the permissions will be correct. If the shortcuts still are not there.
If that doesn't work, delete or rename the new Adobe folders created in the previous attempt, go to Users in Control Panel and create a new user account with and make it an administrator, then log on with that account and start InDesign. If the shortcuts work, copy the Adobe folders to your original user account.
Still not working? Make sure you are logged in on your regular account. On each of the two Adobe folders in your user profile right-click and choose Properties, then the Security tab. Verify that your user and System both have full control.
Still not working? Time to activate the Administrator Account.
Set a Restore Point before you do any of this stuff, just in case....

  • Option to disable/change "Skype Call" keyboard shortcut

Hi I'm using a keyboard layout that uses the key-combination "altgr+r" to write a special character that I use fairly often when chatting with people, this however is the command for "Make Skype Call" in the Skype client so every so often I accidentally make a skype call when chatting with people because of this. Why can't the keyboard shortcut be changed or disabled/removed?! This is incredibly annoying to me and disruptive to people i communicate with.
Unless this keyboard shortcut is able to be changed/disabled I will have to start using alternative clients/services.

Ok Alt+A is a **bleep**up on my side, it is a shortcut used by KeePass to insert credentials....but Alt+R remains

  • How do i change the 'enter' key shortcut (Mac OS X Photoshop CS6) from highlighting the 'Set the fon

Whenever I am editing text and press Return or Enter, Photoshop highlights the 'Set the font family' in the top options bar. It is driving me crazy, and I cannot find a way in the keyboard shortcuts to change it.

Hi Chris, thanks for your quick reply.
Im sorry I was unclear - To clarify I was referring to having the horizontal type tool (or any of the type tools) selected, and pressing enter or return.
It highlights the font family field as per the screenshot. Is there any way to change this?

  • HT5957 iOS 7.0.2 How do I change to Greek keyboard option for passcode entry

How does one change the passcode entry keyboard option?

You may not want to do this as my iPhone is now disabled, as are a number of others. There appears to be a problem unlocking the device once a complex password is enabled.
