How Do I Change Google Search Results in Safari 3.1?

I travel a lot. Currently I'm in India. When I was using Safari 3.0, the Google Search Bar search results were always from google.com. Now that I've upgraded to 3.1, the search results are from google.co.in.
How do I get the search bar to give me .com results again?

Unless they've changed it in the past year, the auto-complete on Inquisitor was a deal-breaker. It kept on completing words that I didn't want to type.
Inquisitor has changed a lot over the past year. I used to use AcidSearch. This has it beat hands down.
Unless directed otherwise, I believe Google adapts the search function to your location based on the IP. Hence, the "Indian search".
Back to Inquisitor, one picture is worth a thousand words.

  • As of this morning, I am being redirected to uk.gomeo when i click on google search results in Safari. Do I have a virus?

    Hi,
First time poster and very non-techy person here. I am being redirected to urls starting "uk.gomeo..." when clicking on Google search results in Safari. Quick search on this seems to suggest I have a virus. Not sure what to do or how to get rid of it. Not sure what could have caused it either. Downloaded Acrobat update couple of days ago which took hours, and Twitter account was hacked about a week ago. All software updates up to date. Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry editing that way doesn't work anymore in Lion. But you can look and see if there are any google entries in it. If there are not any google entries you can ignore my posts. If there are try this:
    Open terminal
    sudo nano /etc/hosts
When prompted for the sudo password - The correct password is your own (the password of the user logged into OS X, also the password you provide when doing system updates and so on).
now you can delete the line(s) that contain google and save.
Using your arrow keys go to the line containing google. Delete the line. Do the same for all lines containig google.
if you have a problem deleting, do a control-x to exit, and reply n to the modified buffer question. To save your changes do a  control-o and hit enter , then do a control-x to quit.
Note: normally you never edit the hosts file, but if you see google entries in it then a malware programs has added them. It has been happening with a bogus flash update, that installs flash and asks for your system password. SOmething that seem quite normal when installing software. This bogus flash update makes the hosts modifications adding their own IP adrress for google.

  • How do I change the search engine in Safari?

    Hi y'all,
How do I change the search engine used in the "search" slot in the menu bar? I still want it to use google, but would like to change it to the danish version.
    Kind regards
    -z

    Hi
Easiest way to change the search is to install 3rd party freeware Inquisitor. After installing it, restart Safari. Go to Safari Preferences. Click on the arrow at the far end of the menu panel. You'll see an hour-glass icon. Click on it to open the Inquisitor panel. Click on the search engine drop-down menu and select your preferred search engine.

  • How do I get google search in my Safari address bar?

I have a MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.  Apple store just reloaded the 10.7.  Everything works except that the google search is no longer in the Safari address bar.  How to I get that back?  Thanks.

Safari preferences, General icon, select preferred search engine from dropdown menu. Or do you mean the Search Field? If so, it's not used anymore. Use the URL field to search.

  • Resize Google search results

Why can't I resize google search results in safari?
Doesn't matter if it's search results or even google.com/news
I can't resize the results. I can zoom in on the links when I click them, but the results are too small for me to read. Same problem with facebook
BTW .. fwiw, it it works on the G1

You can't resize the search results because Google optimized the pages for iPhone. That means that Google automatically senses that you're visiting the page from iPhone and automatically resizes the page.
But it is not happening every time. Sometimes Google give you an big page which is resizable but nowadays the resized pages are more common.

  • How to enable portal rank high up in Google search results?

    Hi friends,
Does anyone have an idea how to enable public portal to rank up higher in google search results?
    Thanks & regards,
    Manish

If you want to do it honestly, put good content up there, and let google get to you - and they will.
If you want to cheat, there are lots of places on the 'net that will tell you how to 'persuade' the search engines to rank your site higher.  The search engines constantly work to ensure that their rankings are valid, so they will try and prevent such 'link farming' from occurring.
You can also pay google for advertising, which will place your ad on pertinent search result lists...I would suggest that this might be a better route for you to take.

  • OIM: How to change user search results table?

    Hello,
My customer wants to change the search results table to add/delete columns or move around the existing columns. Is there a way to configure or customize this? If so how? Please let me know.
    Thanks

This jsp uses the table generator.jsp which shows the data in the form of table. You have to make your own action class to do this after extending their class (provided by oracle) tcSearchUserAction.java and you can show data as per your client requirement.

  • [Solved] Conkeror google search results mode

    Hey,
I've been using conkeror for some time now and I really enjoy
conkeror's support for mouseless browsing. In google search mode
Conkeror allows you to use 1-9 to select a link in your google search
results. However, when I want to look at a second page of search
results, I reach the mouse to do that (since the follow
command in the google search mode only shows numbers to your search
results). But that doesn't seem very efficient. So, what I'm wondering
if any of you know how I can select another page of search results
without having to reach the mouse (while in the google search mode).
I've looked at Conkeror's website about the google search mode but I
couldn't find any info about that there. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Yup, have this line in your rc:

Substitute "O" with whichever key you like.
That works beautifully. That will make my life much better
I've also noticed that if you change "next" for "previous" you can
    also see previous pages.
Another related question: after you do a google search and you want to
change your previous query (e.g., add a word to your previous search), do you know of a
way of doing that without using the mouse? (again, f here has a
similar problem in the google search mode).

  • Google Search Results keep freezing Safari in iOS 8

I have an iPad Air that is only 30% full, and a good wifi connection. Ever since is updated to ios8 and subsequent updates, my Safari browser will often (but not always) freeze after a Google search. All of the Google search result links will be unresponsive, and will not even respond after I refresh the page. It will require me to close the tab, restart Safari and repeat the Google search. It has been happening for quite awhile. I can quit out of all apps, restart my iPad, close all other tabs in Safari, and still have the problem. Unlike another poster who had the same problem, I do not have any third-party blockers on my iPad, nor have I ever had them.
This his is only one of several glitches I have experienced with iOS 8.

If you didn't do a clean install of your system, you might want to try that. Here is a troubleshooting methodology I gave for another thread ...
Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

  • Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?

Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button?

In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

  • In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)?

    Hello, all.
In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
    Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

  • Safari 5.0.2 doesn't save any more google search results in the history.

    Hello together,
Safari doesn't save any more google search results in the history.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1.) go to google.com
    2.) search for "APPLE"
    3.) open the history
Result: the search for "APPLE" is not saved - only the Google mainpage.
This has something to do with the new search string in the Location bar. Safari does not save URL with /#.
    For example:
    the new string is http://www.google.de/#hl=...
    the old one is: http://www.google.de/search?hl=....
The change must something to do with the new Google-Search-Feature. When I deactivate it, then google works with the old string and I found the searches in the history.
The second negative effect is, when you type "apple" into the location bar (after a search), the autocomplete shows the search result, but when you hit enter, you are redirected to the Google-Mainpage.
    Very annoying
    Can somebody confirm.
    Thanks

  • How to Change the Search Engine in Safari?

How can I change the Search engine?
I want to use google instead of Genieo. Everytime I open Safari it automatically redirect to Genieo and it really ******* me off! >_<

Back up all data, then remove the "Genieo" spyware by following the instructions on this page.
Some versions of the spyware may not be completely removed by those instructions. If you still have problems, do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    Then reboot.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't recognize. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
