How do I change my iPads FaceTime phone number?

If your wife's cell number was listed on the iPad, you must have set up the iPad using her iCloud account (Apple ID) instead of your own. iCloud automatically populates the phone number to other devices with the same iCloud account, but you should be able to deactivate it.
That number that is assigned to your iPad is just an internal routing and billing number for your carrier. My carrier (AT&T) makes a clear statement in the legal documents that this number is not for phone calls or (SMS or MMS) messages, just for data delivery. For whatever reason, Apple does not allow it to be used in the iMessages system.

TS3367 Ipad - facetime phone number

When setting up my new Ipad Air (wi-fi only) from a restore of my Iphone via itunes it is pulling in the wrong phone number for facetime (apparently from another family members iphone) but the restore for apps worked fine. Any way to change the phone#? I already tried erasing the Ipad and doing a fresh backup of the phone and had the same results.

Example: in the following number (61) 5555-5555, the "(61)" is the area code and the "5555-5555 is the number. To make a long distance call to that number I need to use a carrier code and the number ends up like this: (021 61) 5555-5555.
Since I moved to a different carrier with better prices I need to change the "021" part of all my numbers to "041". Is there a feature or add-on that can make this process automatic?

Currently, the order in which the phone numbers appear (in a contact) is dependent on the sequence to which you enter them. There is no way to change that order other than re-entering them in the desired order.

Have you turned on MMS Messaging in Settings?
