How do I change my ipod from a windows to a mac?

I bought a new video ipod and a new mac computer for my daughter this winter. Her old ipod (a mini) is linked to my computer (a PC), and I wanted to know if there was any way to get the songs from her old ipod, which is linked to my computer, onto her new computer and then be able to upload them onto her new video ipod. Basically, she wants to have her old songs on her new computer.
Does anyone know how to do this?

You cant upload songs from your ipod. I have a laptop and a computer, and i like to have the same music on both computers, so i bought an mass capacity external drive and just transfer songs from one computer to another.
If you dont want to spend money on an external drive, depending on the amount of songs, wou could make an mp3 cd. I dont have a Mac so i dont know if this would work. MP3 Cds allow you to hold a lot more spongs than a WAV cd. You could burn all the songs to a cd in mp3 format and then burn the songs on that cd to the new computer.

I started off using a PC with my iPod. Now I have an iMac with Mac OS X Version 10.4.8. I have the newest iTunes downloaded on it, but when I plug my iPod (5th Generation Video) in, it claims my iPod could not be used because I need to download the newest version of iTunes. I moved my iTunes library from a PC to iBook G4 with OS X 10.4.8
There is a lot of info on this from a variety of sources including the Apple website. I found the easiest way was to copy my files from the PC to the Mac using the iPod as a hard drive. To do it this way, you have to have enough space on the iPod, so check how much space the music takes up on the iPod -- you'll need about double that amount to make this method work.
To summarize what I did: enable your iPod as a hard drive (this is a menu choice in iTunes when your iPod is connected to the PC). While in iTunes (on the PC), select Advanced and then Consolidate Libray; this will put all of your iTunes music into one folder.
Assuming you have enough space on the iPod, you can then copy all of the contents of your iTunes music folder onto the iPod using Windows Explorer. Then, connect the iPod to your Mac and copy all the files into the iTunes folder on the Mac.
If you have an older version of iTunes on the Mac then the version on the PC, you might need to update the Mac. The most recent version of iTunes is 7.0.2 (15). This update shouldn't cause any problems.
Hope this helps but if not, do a search on the Apple Forums or using Google. You'll see lots of ideas and ways, and might find one that works better for you than what I've described.
By the way, once you're done and everything is working properly, be sure to deauthorize your old PC in iTunes from the 'Store' menu.

I want to change my iPod from a windows format to Mac. I understand that i can restore my ipod but how could I get my songs back on the Mac from the PC . I have also heard that I can use iPod iRip but do not quiet understand that. If anyone could explain to me either how to restore and not lose my music or to use iRip i would really appriciate it.

This is done through iTunes on a computer. You plug it in and under the Summary tab, you can chose what type of video quality you prefer.
You'll choose "Prefer Standard Definition Videos" from the bottom half of the Summary page
