How do I change my Ipod to a new "home" computer?

My employer says that all our personal software and libraries (i.e., itunes/ipod, etc.) must be removed from our business computers. Unfortunately, I set up my itunes library on my computer at work. Now I must move my itunes library to my computer at home (my house). Someone at work told me that I cannot do this because the ipod will always recognize my "work" computer as its "home" or base and that I will have to rebuld the library and buy and download all new tunes. Is this true? Is there anyway to recover my library or reset my ipod to recognize my computer at home as its new "home" so I can move my library?

You need to move the iTunes library from your home computer to your new laptop first. From there you'll be able to continue syncing your iPod as before. This iTunes support article covers the different methods available for moving your iTunes library from one PC to another.

No. You should be able to authorize multiple accounts on one computer. So, I'm not sure why this is happening. You aren't deauthorizing any accounts are you?
And I mentioned, this may be an issue where you need to contact Support. There may be an issue with your change in accounts for your Apple ID. So, I guess what I am saying is that I don't have any other suggestions for you at this point. Sorry. Just thought I would give it a shot.

You can sync with one and only one computer at a time. Sycning to another will indeed erase the content from the ipod and replace with content from the new computer.
You should copy everything from the old computer to the new one.

You cant upload songs from your ipod. I have a laptop and a computer, and i like to have the same music on both computers, so i bought an mass capacity external drive and just transfer songs from one computer to another.
If you dont want to spend money on an external drive, depending on the amount of songs, wou could make an mp3 cd. I dont have a Mac so i dont know if this would work. MP3 Cds allow you to hold a lot more spongs than a WAV cd. You could burn all the songs to a cd in mp3 format and then burn the songs on that cd to the new computer.

That is correct. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
