How do I change my iPod Touch from a Windows to a Mac?

I recently bought a Mac, to replace my PC.  I have a 2nd generation iPod running the latest (4.3.3 I think).  I have transfered all my files from my Windows to my Mac through USB, and all the files are also sitting on my Mac.  However, when I insert my iPod to the Mac, it can't sync apps without erasing the data on my iPod.  How do I do it without erasing it?  I have it backed up on my Mac and PC.  I also have a brother with a 4th generation iPod.  I assume the soliution would be the same?  THanks!!

Sorry didn't mean to make this the correct answer
What do you mean?  This is what I get:
"Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPod “Connor’s iPod Touch” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."

    Thanks.

    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign in with other ID. To update apps purchased with the first account you will have to log into that account.
    - iTunes purchases are permanently locked to the account that purchased the.
    - There are also other items on the device that are associated with the account such as iCloud account and where you can be reached for Messages and FaceTime.

    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.

How do I unlock an iPod touch from putting the password in too many times?

    Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

How do I upgrade my iPOD Touch from iOS 4.2.1 to 5?  I've reset it, erased it, but still won't install iOS5.

You most likely have a 2G iPod touch which cannot go beyond iOS 4.2.1.  If it is an 8gb or 16 gb iPod without a camera, it is a 2G iPod.

  • How do i uninstall an ipod touch from my computer?

How do i unistall my ipod touch from my computer? It is my sons and he would like to now put it on his own computer

All you have to do is not connect the iPod to your computer.
If he has his own Apple ID/iTunes account you can delete any media purchased with his account from your iTunes libary.
Unauthorize his account from your computer.
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
Delete the backup of his iPod from your computer: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

  • How do i deactivate an ipod touch from my iTunes

I know this should seem simple, but some how I am missing something.  I have tried searching and can't find anything on deactivating a device.
I just need to deactivate an old iPod touch from my iTunes account that I am selling on Craigslist.
    Help?

The consensus on the net would seem to be that only "Mac Computers" count as "Devices" for the purposes of Authorizing and Deauthorizing for iTunes purchases you are talking about. It is also implicit in the article mentioned below:
Furthermore, on the "Deathorize All" feature, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420:
" Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/)."
I was NOT aware of that, and I just realized I'm at my stated limit of 5. Some people are saying that sometimes your mac may get counted twice (a bug somewhere in the chain). I didn't find a solution to this however, though I didn't look very hard since it is possible I reached the limit legitamitely.
So apparently we can have as many iPod/phone/pad devices playing our purchases but only 5 macs, foolishly referred to in this instance by Apple as devices. This is obviously wording they should correct, as it has clearly mislead many people, including the both of us!
roaminggnome (cute name), count against is exactly the phrase I used to search the net for an answer to this same question. A search that brought me here (same question, but yet unanswered), and other places. I'm surprised you couldn't  infer his/her meaning from context, you seem to strive for helpfulness (I see you're level 8). Some people use the phrase/s count toward(s) in the same manner, if that helps.

  • How do I keep the iPod Touch from people resetting it/putting it in DFU mode?

I have iPod Touch 5th Gen. iOS 6.1.3 again.I'm having surgery this week.My question is How do I keep the iPod safe from people doing stuff like putting it in DFU mode, resetting my stuff, etc. because I don't want people to get on my stuff while I'm having 1 hour/30 minutes of surgery?
    Also,the surgery is just 1 hour/30 minutes.

Besides locking in a safe or giving it to a trusted person, all you can do is use a complex screen-lock passcode to protect your personal information. Someone still can erase the iPod by placing in recovery mode and restoring via iTunes but they will have to enter your ID and password to use the erased iPod

  • How do i fix my ipod touch from skipping songs ? shuffle is shut off

my ipod touch is skipping songs and shuffle is off . how do i fix this ?

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync and resync all music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • How do i stop my ipod touch from reverting back to the default music player everytime i get back in my car?

The only place I use my Ipod Touch is in my car that has an iPod connection and the steering wheel controls, but I mostly listen to audio books with the audible app. Everytime I get in my car instead of the iPod just picking up where it left off with the audible app it picks up playing whatever was last listened to with the default music player. How can I stop this? Although sometimes it will pick up with the audible app where it stopped when I last used the car (the time I spend with it not playing in the car doesn't seem to make a difference.). Just a little side question is there anyway to get rid of the newstand app, safari, messaging, facetime, gamecenter and all those other app that apple forces upon it's users?

There is nothing yo can do to return to the app you want.
You can't delete the apps that came with the iPod. Except for NewsbStand, you can put the apps you do not want into one folder and move it to the last screen

  • How Do I "detach" an iPod touch from one PC?

I recently put a new hard drive in my computer, and can now dual boot. I am switching between Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 (64-bit). When I try to sync my iPod to the Win 7 configuration, it tells me that you can only sync an iPod to one computer total, and that if I sync after booting into Win 7, my iPod will lose all its data. I have synced while in Vista, and the files have all been consolidated to a NAS (\\*********\share\iTunes Library) using the File--->Library--->Organize Library command. The same files are also on my new hard drive under C:\\iTunes Library.
My question boils down to this: how do I "detatch" it from the Windows Vista boot, and then "attach" it to the Win 7 boot, without deleting all the data on my iPod? Some of the save files for a few older games in my library don't get synced to my PC, so erasing the data on the iPod would make me start all over again.

If you can still access the library from the primary drive to the secondary drive, you can call to use the current library on the other drive (albeit, this will take longer for data transfer). When you pull up iTunes, you should be able to go to "File > Add File to Library... ", locate the iTunesLibrary.xml on the harddrive, and it should automatically pull all the music associated with that library.
You'll have to make sure the new iTunes is authorized to play music from this library, and make sure that the music is kept organized and set up to point to this drive by going to Edit > Preferences > Advanced. The top box will tell you where specifically all your media is kept. Make sure the check box for "Keep Library Organized" is checked, and make sure it point to your iTunes Library folder. You should be able to boot into Windows 7, open iTunes and have full access to your music as if it existed on your primary harddrive.

  • How can I separate my iPod touch from my new iPhone account?

I recently purchased an iPhone and my daughter has an iPod touch...all on the same account. How can I separate the two? I can message her but its like I'm sending it to myself and I end up getting it twice. They are synced together. I can se what she does and vice versa. Need help!

Have her get her own unique AppleID to use just for iCloud and iMessage.  You can use a shared AppleID for family purchased content in the iTunes and app store.
Once she has her own AppleID, delete the iCloud account on the iPod touch and create a new one for her with her own AppleID.  For iMessage, just select the existing AppleID in settings, log out, then log back in with her new AppleID.
Then you will each have your own separate iCloud and iMessage accounts.
