How do I change my new tabs location from opening to bing?

My home page is set to Google and want this to be the same for opening a new tab in a window. Right now when I open a new tab it is sent to bing and I do not find this search engine to be as useful. I I have a mac, I am not sure if that makes a difference.

There's a hidden setting for new tabs; as you've noticed, they don't automatically follow your home page setting.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
* ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
* ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
* ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
* ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Command+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
Two gotchas:
* If Firefox ignores the setting, one of your extensions may be overriding it. You can review, disable, and/or remove extensions on the add-ons page: Tools menu > Add-ons > ''in the left column click'' Extensions
* If the change works but at the next startup is back to Bing, you might have a user.js file in your personal Firefox settings folder (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and remove the file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].

By default Firefox uses a blank page in a new tab. Something you installed changed that to I-PLAY. You need to figure out what changed that, and get rid of it. Start with this.

After Yahoo Toolbar stowaway-ed onto my computer, it changed my new tab page to Yahoo search, and I can't change it back.

The default Firefox installation shows a blank page when you open a new Tab, something you installed in Firefox changed that action. You need to figure out what you installed that changed that action to showing yahoo.com and disable that addon.

Type about:config into your address bar, press enter. Accept the warning. Search for browser.newtab.url, double click it. Put in www.google.co.uk. You should be good to go :)

Open Firefox -> Go to View -> Toolbars -> Chechmark on "Navigation Toolbar"
this will bring back your address bar (where you type links to go to websites :P )
