How do I change my recovery email with the security question answers as the email address is no longer active
I got an iPod touch 4 years ago for Christmas. The recovery email and security questions are linked to an email account which is no longer in use. I recently bought an iPad and cannot purchase anything from the App Store as I don't know the answer to the security questions and the email is inactive. Help?
You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

When I set up the icloud I was using my then email address. My email address has now changed.
I tried to access under the old email address to change it to a new email address but I couldn't remember the security questions and as I can't access the old email address, I can't change it. So to solve the problem I set up a new account under the new email address. The only problem is my iphone is still asking for the old email address password which doesn't work.

Even if I'm not despertate, creating a new Id is good Idia. But I think I must create another email address also since I can't use the first email adress as an apple id for the new one. The reset link will send reset info to the rescue email account that you put on your account - alternate email addresses are different email addresses, they are not used for resetting questions.
If you don't have access to your rescue email account (you won't be able to change it until you can answer your questions) then you will have to contact Support in your country (and which is therefore on your iTunes account) to get the questions reset.

How/where are you opening the email ? Have you tried opening it in a different browser in case the reset link is being blocked due to the security settings that you have set on the one that you using ?

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.
