How do I change "open new window" tab behaviour?

I used to be a Firefox user ages ago, and then switched to Chrome for awhile. I'm coming back now, and I'm noticing some strangeness with tabs and "new windows". Can't figure out how to get around it.
My "Home Page" is set up to open three tabs. One is MSN, the second is my email, and the third is Google Calendar. That works great, except..
1) If I pick "New Window" (Ctrl-N), it re-opens those same three tabs. When I open a new Window, I don't want to open those three tabs again. They're already open in the primary window. How do I stop Firefox from doing that? I can't figure out how to make that happen.
2) The other is about the "Home" button. If I push the home button it loads all three of those tabs. In Chrome there's a separate setting for the home button vs the startup tabs. Is there any way to replicate this? I occasionally hit the home button just to load MSN. I don't want all three of those tabs when I hit the home button. Any way around this?

That is not possible.
A new window opens the home page(s), so you would have to set the home page to about:blank or create a bookmark with the location set to about:blank and hold the Shift key and left-click to open this page in a new window.
You can add those three pages to the command line of the Firefox desktop shortcut to open these page when you start Firefox.

I have this one website I use that when I click on a link within the website it is opening a new window with the tab at the bottom. Also, when this happens, I am losing the orange FireFox rectangle, bookmarks and navigation options. How can I set FF31 so that the link opens in a new tab and I keep all my options? I have two laptops and both are running FF31 and W7. One of them is working perfectly and the other is having this problem. As far as I can tell they are both set up the same. I also read in the help forum that maybe I need to go back to FireFox 28 to accomplish what I am trying to accomplish.
I noticed that when I go under about:config that the version of FF that is not working has fewer available options versus the version that is working. An example would be that the working version has "browser.tabs.onTop" where on the other laptop this is missing.

If a website codes its links to open in a new window, you can divert that to a new tab.
The basic setting for this is here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
The first checkbox: "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
In some cases, a website uses a script to launch a new window with special features, such as a set height/width, or with one or more toolbars removed. To avoid breaking sites that create dialog boxes this way, Firefox does not normally divert this kind of window to a new tab. However, if you wanted to send these to a tab as well, there is a hidden setting you can change. (See: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1035103#answer-662627])
If Firefox is sending ALL links to new windows or new tabs, you might have an extension like Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities which changes the built-in tab handling features. You would need to explore their settings to get it just the way you want it.

Safari always opens new windows/tabs

Every time I click on a link Safari opens a new window or tab instead of just going to that link in the window that I am in. So when I close Safari I have multiple pages/tabs open. It used to just go from page to page without opening new windows or tabs. What setting needs to be changed to get back to the single window?

Setting mailto links to open new window/tab?

When I click a mailto link, I would like to be able to have it open a new window/tab, not open my webmail (yahoo) in the same window. Also, when I click said mailto link, I have issues with the link sending the correct info to yahoo. I end up getting everything in the to field with the mailto: and also the subject: in this field. e.g. [email protected]?subject=test

Links opening new window/tab

As far as I can remember before Safari 3, I could set it so that if I clicked on a link in an email it would NOT open it in a new tab OR Make a new window appear. I like it this way but now it seems in Safari 3 you only have the choice of a new tab or new window. Is there a way to have links from mail just keep one Safari window and load the pages from the links over each other without opening a new window? Am I remembering correctly that you could do this in previous versions of Safari?

From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences (or Command + comma on your keyboard).
Click Tabs. You can set your preferences there.

ok, since 3 or 4 days, my firefox opens new window automatically. it happends at lease 20 times a day. sometimes it happends after i open some webs in new tabs, sometimes it just happens..without doing anything...and the new window often times show the homepage of google...sometimes there were other shopping-web. i try to block them unter "options-content-block pop-up windows"...but it doesnt work. and sometimes the normal webs are redireckted to some webseits...i never had this before. i didnt open some untrustable webs....so...what's going on? how can i change it?

If so...
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID
If not..

Long story short: Simply get CC for teams. At 500 bucks a year it's a steal and those 5 licenses in the base package (or was it 10 even?) cover all your computers, at least the 3 ones you mentioned. For system requirements refer to the individual product pages.

List - Navigation Outline - how to open link in new window/tab?

I have created Navigation Outline but would like to open links in the new window or tab.
We are using single sign-on within our intranet therefore the links looks like that: f?p=105:1:&SESSION..
Does anybody have any ideas how to open new window, I have tried this: target="_blank" but it doesn't work.

Where exactly are you building this link to open a new window? Are you builidng it inside the query? a column link? I'm just curious; as it would make a slight difference in syntax, or where to escape, or whether or not you need to escape or not. But anyways, you could look into the javascript:popupURL syntax.
So if you were building a link inside a query, the syntax would look similar to:
'<a href = "javascript:popupURL(''f?p=&flow_id.:101:&session.::&debug.::&P101_ITEM:&P99_MATCH_ITEM.'')">Link</a>'
Those are two single quotes that start and end the ....f?p-url-part....I.e., escaped.
But thats just an example. Hope that helps.

After opening Firefox, how do I stop every new window I open from having old tabs?

Whenever I start Firefox, it opens a window with tabs I used from a previous session, which is what I want since I set it on Tools > Options > When Firefox starts. However, whenever I open new windows after I have opened Firefox, it always opens four tabs along with my homepage. I tried deleting the four tabs from history then opening a new window again, but it still opens five tabs in the new window. This started around last week. And I don't think I did anything different. I was just surfing the net as usual.

Check the home page setting.

Click the orange Firefox button, and click "Options". This will bring up a new window with a "Tabs" tab at the top. Click that. There will be several checked boxes, including one called "Open new windows in a new tab instead" up at the top of the list. Uncheck that box and you should be good to go.
ETA: This should also work if you click "Tools" and "Options" within your version.

Under options/tabs: open new windows in a new tab instead does not work. many sites open their popups or new windows NOT in a tab as it should. How to solve this, has been a problem in the last versions incl. the latest.

recently I've noticed that the 'open new windows in a new tab instead' function which I already have set, is no longer working, I keep getting sites that open a new window instead - and I'd like it to stop please. I'd like FF to revert to the behaviour I have set up. How do I do that?
