How do I change Safari's assumed and unwanted email address?

I can't for the life of me find where Safari stores my preferred email address.
This becomes trouble when click on an email address within a web page. Craigslist, for instnace.
Safari assumes I want to send email from my google mail address. I don't .
I want to send it from my Mac Mail app.
How can I change this preference?
P.S. My address book card for myself lists my Mac Mail address (the one I want) and does not list my google mail address.

I am in the same boat as all of you and have done lots of digging on this issue around the Apple Support Communities. Over the past three days, I have spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple trying to get creative about how to get around this issue (delete all my accounts and start over, etc.). Unfortunately, the bottom line message Apple gave me was this, "The ONLY way to use your @me as your primary email address is if you set it up that way at the very beginning. If you use a different email as your first primary address, you can never switch to your @me account unless you go and create a NEW @me account and start from scratch that way." So disappointed.

I want to stop using my hotmail account (which is also my Apple ID) and migrate to my icloud address for all my email.
Why cant I use my icloud mail address as my Apple ID?
Seems strange to be forced to use a hotmail address instead.

I am trying to use an Apple EMail address as my primary email address and I am unable to change it. I previously had another "nonapple" address identified as my Apple ID and Primary Email address. Now I apparantly can only change it to another "non Apple" related email address. It seems stupid to have to go to Google and use thier email address to make a change.

Thanks Roger! I understand that it is an Apple ID already that makes sense. That "non Apple " address however, is compromised and I do not wish to use it anymore and will be shutting it down. I find it strange that I must only identify a "Non Apple" address as my "primary email address". I have an alias address on the account and I can sign in using it as my Apple ID. i don't see the Logic in forcing someone to use another email provider as your primary mail service. (I know I can set up alias's and use them under an Apple domain, but the primary email will still be there and I understand used for any account communications from Apple.) Any further comments on this situations?

When I connect my Ipod nano my automatic itunes account is using my old email address. This address does not exist anymore and even if it did I have forgotten the password. Every time I try to reset my security questiogns they send the email to an email account that has been closed for a couple of years.
I do not understand why they can't send it to the other 3 email addresses that I have associated with my account.

You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.
You might need to log out and back into your account after removing it as your rescue email address before you can try using it as your primary email address.

This is just another reason why I detest the Apple ecosphere. I'm now forced to use an iCloud address for a minor. Steve Jobs has an awful lot to answer for. Most of it bad.

How can I change the iCloud setting to my email address. I can't log out of the previous owners email I'd without his password

I have my sons old iPhone. iCloud is still under his email address. I can't close it and re start without his password. If I put his password in I am worried it will delete all his backup. Any suggestions?

Not completely clear on what you are trying to do, but I will take a shot.
1. If you do not want to continue using your son's account on the old phone, factory reset it and set it up with your Apple ID. It will be like you have a new phone.
1. To prevent a problem with your son's backup, connect the newly-reset phone to the computer and cancel the sync immediately. Rename the old iPhone immediately and you will not have to worry about messing up your son's backup.

My icloud is linked to my husband's icloud. How can I change it so that my itunes email address shows up and not my husband's? All my apps also go to his phone. None of my pics, or apps were saved on my phone. I think because it has his itunes info.

My husband and I traded phones a week ago. Now I have my phone back. So when I got my # back I tried to recall all my stored data via icloud but nothing except contacts was retrieved. At ATT they said they could tell that I have over 200 photos but we couldn't recover any of them. They said all I had to do was recall them from icloud. But it didn't work. Now my husband says every time I download a new app it also gets it. We share the same itunes account but different icloud accounts. So what can I do? Welcome to the Apple Community.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
It appears you want to remove his ID from iCloud on your device and add your own back, you can do this at settings > iCloud > Delete account and then sign in again using your Apple ID. By doing this your data should be added back to your device, unless your husband has deleted it when using your ID. Photo stream is a little different.
Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there (subject to a 1,000 photo limit) until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.
You should also decide whether you want to share your iTunes content with each other. If you do share, you can stop the apps and music etc., that he buys on his device downloading to yours by turning off automatic downloads on your device at settings > iTunes & App Stores.

Firefox is a web browser. It displays the content of existing sites. Things like email or page contents come from the content provider. Who is your email provider? You'll probably have better luck consulting their help documentation. There should be a settings menu that allows you to change your personal account information.

If these apps were obtained with your old ID, you'll have to use that ID to update them. All apps are forever tied to the ID used to obtain them, & can only be updated using that ID.
