How do I change the base color in the recolor Artwork settings? I know this seems like a silly thing but I really need to figure this out and I have read and gone through the manual and the help forum to no avail. Please help.

If I have understood you correctly, you want to exclude a certain color from getting affected. You can click on a color row and it becomes highlighted with a border around it - in your artwork, let's say you want the orange color not to get affected. Right-click on it and choose 'Exclude Colors'. When you do that, you will see that the orange color moves to the bottom of the list and there is no arrow in front of it. Like this:

Here is the information that you should follow when using DAQ with a Macintosh. If you have a higher version it should include the earlier version settings.Usually each update is a rollup of previous changes plus newer.
If you are having serious overheating problems I would use a laptop cooling pad with fan/fans. Also,a less radical approach to the mod posted above is drilling some air holes in the bottom of case where the GPU is located. Adding copper shims shown HERE or HERE on his 'About ME' also keeps temps down.

How can I change the contacts app settings to view by groups?

When I had an iPod Touch (3rd generation), I was able to sort my contacts by groups by using another app and then when I launched the default contacts app I could tap the "Groups" button and I saw a list of them (Family, Friends, Businesses, etc). That way, I could tap the group I wanted and only view those contacts. Now I'm using an iPhone (4th generation with iOS 6.1.2) and it is the most obnoxious contacts system in the world. I now have to unselect every group I don't want to see, and it's a pain-in-the-neck to get Facebook contacts assigned to groups as the app I use to assign contacts to groups isn't "permitted" to use those contacts that are from Facebook or those who don't have a Facebook link unless I add them and delete the old. I work with a nonprofit organization and I have a lot of contacts for various businesses through them but I shouldn't have to unselect 12 different groups just to view a single group. I've tried looking in settings and can't figure out how to change this. I must have over 100 contacts and this is a pain to deal with. Did Apple really think this was the best change they ever made to the contacts app? Considering they still haven't implemented the ability to assign contacts to groups...
Another thought is why not also view contacts by business or "theme"? Such as, what if you have a large, extended family and might want to view just 1 section (like my cousins' family who have various last names due to marriage). This is why being able to view by group is so important to me but if I create 5 different groups for family and friends, that means I have to unselect 4 of them AND all the other groups for businesses, work, community, etc just to view the specific contacts. So, did Apple change this or am I just not seeing how to view them the way I want?

I assume that you are in Germany ? Try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPad and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select Germany.

How do you change the album artwork size in the new itunes

I just downloaded the laterst version of itunes, and I can't figure out how to change the size of the album artwork in the grid...I like to be able to see all of my albums at once, so I usually view them in the smallest size, but I can't figure out how to change that.

I've been playing with this and discovered it has to do with your personal ratings (ie stars) for albums and songs - seems iTunes now selects the highest rated album to use for the Artist icon. If you have no ratings it seems (but not always) to select the most recent album/song to use fo rthe display.
I've been able to get iTunes to use specific album artowk by rating both the album and all individual tracks as 5 star. You may need to restart iTunes for the changes to take effect.
But I'd be much happier just telling iTunes which image to use - like we used to be able to do. Yet another step backwards for iTunes 11 (one of many).

How do I change the album artwork that appears on the front of a playlist?

When I put playlists on my iPad the wrong album artwork appears on the front of them, sometimes not even containing the correct picture. is there any way to alter this?

This needs to be fixed! The playlist artwork chosen seems random and doesn't relate to the contents of the playlist, and in my case is misleading (the same artwork for several playlists). Once the allowed number of region changes has been reached you will need to flash the firmware in your DVD player in order to reset the region count. You can try to Google for the required update for your make/model of DVD ROM or you can check with a Toshiba Service Agent to see if they can arrange this for you.

When you add the artwork image do you see it displayed correctly in the Artwork tab? If so, the two most likely causes are:
your media files are in a format that doesn't support embedded images (typically WAV files)
your media files are read-only, or Windows permissions are preventing the files from being updated.

The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the centre of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.

Type about:config in the address bar. Find browser.download.dir and change it to the path you want. Remember that Android has a linux base so the path will similar to /mnt/sdcard/downloads/
