How do I change the duration of a transition?

A default transition button says 01.15.
Wanting longer than that, I change the .01 to .05
The transition does not lengthen, but the meter now says 01.01
I am having a similar problem changing the length of other things, too.
I am doing something fundamentally wrong here.
I know the last figure (above, in the first sentence of this whine, it is the .15) refers to the frames.
After that, my brain turns slowly to porridge.
What am I doing wrong?

AHA!
That is exactly my problem.
I am doing as you suggest, BUT no change is occurring.
Now. Am I entering the time I wish to use correctly? I am simply changing the number of seconds.
When I hit OK there is a dull clunking sound - somewhat a cross between DUH and someone hitting me on the head with a knuckle.
I am doing something wrong. But what?
Also, and not to confuse the issue, didn't I read somewhere that I can use the scroll button on the mouse to change those numbers? That is not happening.

  • On iMovie 10.0.7 how can I change the duration of all of my photos in the project at once?

On iMovie 10.0.7 how can I change the duration of all of my photos in the project at once?

You can set the default duration of stills but you have to do it before you start the project.
iMovie is not really suitable for stop motion videos and iMovie 10 is worse than iMovie 9 because the minimum still duration is not really controllable as you have found.   I don't have experience of making such videos but there are 3rd party apps which appear more suited to this, for example http://www.macworld.com/article/1146623/stop_motion_Mac.html
mentions some of them, though its a bit old and you may be able to find more up to date information.

  • How can I change the duration for all clips in iMovie 10.2

How can I change the duration for all clips in iMovie 10.2?  I'm used to working in the older version of iMovie where all I had to do was click on the gear on the clip and change the duration. ALso could use the tool bar to set the duration for all clips. Can't figure out how to do that in this new version. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In the timeline select the clip whose duration you want to change. Click the adjust button at the top of the viewer and then click the i button and you can set the duration. For multiple clips select them all and in the i button type in the duration you want and it will be applied to all the selected clips. You can also change the duration of a clip in the timeline by putting the cursor over the beginning or end of a clip and dragging. A popup will show the new duration.

    Hello everyone.
I need to change the duration of stills and I'm having a hard time doing that. I'm not interested in changing the default setting. The stills need different times, so I need to be able to manually alter the duration of each clip. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • How do I change the duration of a still image in iMovie to less than 0.1 second?

I am creating a movie using iMovie where I need the still images to be 0.05 seconds each or maybe even less., but whenever I select the still images and go to "Clip Adjustments" and under duration change 0.1s to 0.05s and select "Done", iMovie changes the duration back to 0.1s. I'm fairly new to iMovie and I've been messing around with it for quite a while now and still can't figure it out. Could someone help me?

  • How do I change the duration of all clips/ photos to under 00:00:03?

I am making a movie from images that were rendered with Maya, a 3D software.
When I import lets say 50 images , they all come in with a duration of 5 seconds each .
I figured out how to slow down their duration to 00:00:03
but I want them all to be 00:00:01, meaning, 1 frame per image, 30 images a second.
imovieHD only allowed me to reduce the photo to have a duration of 3 frames , no less!
How do I reduce the duration of all my photos to 1 frame or a 30th of a second?
    Please help!

you posted in the iMHD section of this board.. which is vers. 5 (five).. you're using vers5 with 10.5. ?
in iMHD(5), project has to be DV or any other, but not iSight/mpeg4..
import one pic into timeline, uncheck KB, doubleclick the clip and set its duration to 00:00:00:01 .. following imports adopt these settings
in iM08/09 (I assume, that is your version...) 3 frames is shortest.
you need other apps to accomplish your task, QTpro, FramebyFrame, iStopmotion etc ..

  • IMovie 08 transitions length...How do I change the duration of the transit

Believe me, I've tried Edit, set duration, apply to all transitions.. it won't stay at the time that I set it. Can I get some help out there?

I do have the same problems. I want to show some 10 pictures as a movie. Therefore I set the duration of all pictures to 0.4 sec and the transitions between to 0.1 sec. First I observe that not all photos have the same duration (some are 0.36 sec some are 0.5 sec ?!?). When I set the duration of all transitions to 0.1 sec then I get an error "Fell short of minimum" (which is not explained in Help) and the durations of the transitions are between 0.2 and 0.4 sec (regardless whether I choose to ignore ore cancel the request)
Help just says that the duration of the transitions need to be shorter than half the length of the shorter clip which I intend to have.
So to me this is a bug. Maybe you can report it to http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.

  • How do I change the duration of slides?

I'm using PE11 and am making a picture slide show video.
I'm attempting to edit the duration of my slides, but when I slide them manually on the screen (via split track) they all end up different lengths - some a perfect 5 seconds, others 1 second.  Is there a way to manually change these with typing in a number so that they're all consistent, rather than using the SLIDER ?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
The best way to set a constant Duration for Imported Still Images, is to do so, BEFORE you do the Import. Go to Edit>Preferences>General>Still Duration, and set it there. It might be easiest to just Delete the Imported Stills, and re-Import w/ desired Duration set.
Otherwise, in Timeline View Mode/Expert Mode, you can first open the Info Panel, and then click+drag on the Head, or Tail of each Still, watching the Duration on the Info Panel, while dragging.
    Good luck,

  • How do you change the timeline duration in Photoshop CC?

There seems to be 5 second limit on the duration of the timeline in Photoshop version 2014.
How can you extend the duration of the animation? There's a timeline window, but no "animation" window as mentioned in many of the help files.
How do you change the duration in Photoshop  2014?
I'm using Windows 8.1 as my OS.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but my point was not about the lack of creating animations.
It seems that in Photoshop CC, you cannot change the duration of the timeline unless you click on the end of a clip and drag it out which will then give you more time.  As the original post mentioned, you automatically get a 5 second duration unless you have a video clip that is of longer time.  This all makes sense for videos, I understand that nobody (usually) wants to stretch video.  Video by nature will extend the timeline based on how much footage is present.
Now take an animation scenario where you want to create something from scratch that spans longer than the default 5 seconds.  There is no option!!! No document settings, nothing that will allow you to extend the timeline.  I now have to click and drag each layer clip on the timeline to give it more time for the animation, one by one might I add (you can't even highlight multiple clips and extend them all at once, which is crazy).
So what does this mean?  Well if you create a mockup of something with all of these intricate layers including backgrounds, copy etc. and you only intended to animate a certain piece for say 8 seconds, you'll have to extend each and every single layer clip in the timeline otherwise they will magically disappear and the only thing displaying is that which you have extended manually.
The reason why you need a document settings in the timeline is to prevent content from disappearing if something extends for a certain amount of time.
Frame by frame animations only allow for so much functionality, try to animate multiple objects at once with frames and go back and make a change to one part...
CS5 would simply show everything regardless if they did nothing on the timeline, it allowed you to see all of your elements present.
Again, I stand by my statement saying that the new timeline is flawed.

  • How do I see the duration of a clip in the timeline ?

    Hi there,
How do I see the duration of a clip in the timeline ?
How do I change the duration by typing in a number (instead of dragging its ends) ?

Control-D is the same as right click & select "Change Duration" ?
But where is the dashboard ? Nothing pops out ! (ie no new windows appear)
    Any ideas ?
