How do you change the name on your computer
How do i change the name of my computer it was my friends now its mine how do i change there name to my name
Here is the information I had found, however I have never had to try. You will have the passowrd too, so the above will help for that.
For Mac OS X v10.5 or later
Enable the root user.
Log in as root.
Navigate to the /Users folder.
Select the Home folder with the short name you want to change, and rename it just like you would rename any folder. Keep in mind that the shortname must be all lowercase, with no spaces, and only contain letters.
Use the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier) in System Preferences to create a new user with the Account name or Short Name that you used in the previous step.
Click OK when "A folder in the Users folder already has the name 'account name'. Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?" appears. Note: This will correct the ownership of all files in the Home folder, and avoid permissions issues with the contents.
Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
Log in as the newly created user. You should be able to access all of your original files (on the desktop, in Documents, and in the other folders of this Home).
After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier).
Disable the root user.
Hope this helps you -
How can I change the name of a computer I'm getting rid of?
How can I change the name of the computer to my granddaughter's name? It's now called "My name" G5 iMac. I would also like to delete that computer icon in my Devices on my MacbookPro.
I guess my reply to these questions in your other topic did not help?
The name of the computer is in System Preferences Sharing pane.
If something appears under DEVICES in a Finder window sidebar, you can click hold on it and drag it off the sidebar. If it appears under SHARED, it should no longer appear there once if that iMac is no longer on your local network, or if you turn off its shared services in the Sharing pane. -
How can I change the name that my computer/iTunes assigned to my device?
When I hooked up my new 4s to my desktop, it asked if I wanted to start with a new device. I answered yes and the device was assigned a default name based on the name of the computer (which wasn't originally mine) so now iTunes recognizes the device as belonging to some dead guy I never met. Also the same first name as an ex-bf. Call me weird but this bothers me. How can I change the name of the device?
Select the device when it is connected to iTunes. Click in the device name on the summary tab. Enter what you want.

In my Finder, under 'places', how do i change the name of my computer?
picture of the little home.below Applications. how do i change that name.
Or, under Macintosh HD,Users,(names).. how do i change these names?Short answer: very carefully. In unix lingo, that is the "short" name. If you are running OS X 10.5, go to System Preferences, Accounts and click your account name while holding down the Control key to reveal "Advanced Options". Change the Short Name there.
One word of advice, the warning at the top of the dialog box needs to be taken seriously. You can completely hose your system! Make a backup first! -
How can I change the name of my computer on my iPad?
Since I performed a clean install of Mavericks on my iMac, the computer-name changed a couple of times unexpectedly.
Now, I end up with one of the previous names to be recognized by my iPad instead of the correct one.
So, a WiFi-sync is no longer possible.
Is there a way to change the computer-name on my iPad to the correct one?
Cheers!
GJYou might want to try this first.

How do I change the name on my computer
I bought a used macbook pro for my daughter. Its a nice one but shows the previous owners name, like ..Joe Shmoe's Computer when you check the system.
How do I get rid of that?
ThanksDo you have the original system discs?
If not then call apple and get replacements or call the original owner and get them from him, if he still has them.
If and whn you get the orignal discs wipe the drive and reinstall the OS.
For now you can create a new Admin users, usiing your daughter name and then delete the original acount. But that may or may not completely wipe his name form some parts of the computer. the only way to do that is a complete wipe of the drive and a reinstall of OS and software. -
How do I change the name in Terminal
When I try to access Terminal, and enter a sudo command, it asks for my password. It has the name wrong of my computer, and then won't accept my password. I can hit enter 3 times and it brings right back to my starting point. How do I change the name of my computer and allow it to accept my password?
First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why the password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. You can select one of the available layouts by choosing from the flag menu in the upper right corner, if it's showing, or cycle through them by pressing the key combination command-space or command-option-space. See also this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password. In OS X 10.10 and later, this option also works with FileVault, but only if you enabled it when you activated FileVault. It's not retroactive.
Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected. You won't be able to do this if FileVault is active.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions. -
How do I change the names of artists or gendre in the itunes list after importing an album? Is it posssible to change that information?
Yes. Select one or more tracks (use ctrl or shift clicks to add/remove or extend a selection) then right-click or press CTRL-I to Get Info. Use the different tabs of the dialog to make changes.
For general advice on getting things neat & tidy see my article on Grouping tracks into albums.

How can I change the name of item in TableViewController iOS
How can I change the name of item in TableViewController? I want to be able to change the title of an item if I added one. Code:
// ViewController.m
// Movie List
// Created by Damian on 20/02/15.
// Copyright (c) 2015 Tika Software. All rights reserved.
#import "ViewController.h"
@interface ViewController ()
These outlets to the buttons use a `strong` reference instead of `weak` because we want
to keep the buttons around even if they're not inside a view.
@property (nonatomic, strong) IBOutlet UIBarButtonItem *editButton;
@property (nonatomic, strong) IBOutlet UIBarButtonItem *cancelButton;
@property (nonatomic, strong) IBOutlet UIBarButtonItem *deleteButton;
@property (nonatomic, strong) IBOutlet UIBarButtonItem *addButton;
// A simple array of strings for the data model.
@property (nonatomic, strong) NSMutableArray *dataArray;

This option is also selected in the storyboard. Usually it is better to configure a table view in a xib/storyboard, but we're redundantly configuring this in code to demonstrate how to do that.

@endHey JB001,
Sounds like you have more going on than just a simple issue with Home Sharing and more dealing with Wi-Fi syncing. Start with the article below and see if that may resolve it.

If it does not work out, then may I suggest contacting Apple for further assistance to walk you through it or just take that time that you were talking about to sort it out.

How do i change the name associated with my icloud
how do i change the name associated with my icloud
If you are trying to change the iCloud ID to another ID, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.
If you are trying to change the name of your existing iCloud ID and not trying to change to a different ID, you can change the name of the ID as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621. After doing so, you'll need to sign out of the exising ID, then sign back in using the changed ID. -
